Wind noise

Tried to post the sound I get but says File too large. It is the same sound that someone linked on this thread. Hopefully next Sat I can drive over to the "Permian Basin" and talk to them again FACE TO FACE.

I have posted twice about wind noise on both front doors. My 2019 Laramie goes into shop Monday . I’m hoping for the best but from everything I read I’m not optimistic. Oh I’ve posted twice and can’t find either post on this blog.

Maybe FCA should assemble some sharp and experienced traveling technicians "Swat Team" that have detailed knowledge how trucks are built to travel to all dealers and resolve these problems that the local techs can't handle. Its a handful of water leak and wind noise issues and bad grounds, etc that this group could fix instead of local techs throwing parts at the trucks. It would save money and build customer satisfaction. My July 2018 built custom ordered Rebel has had no issues (except squeaky console lid) so I feel really lucky but it's time to come up with a plan to help those not as lucky as me. Just my $0.02  What about this idea, Ram Social Care? They are fabulous trucks but.............. don't let lack of problem resolution become a reason to lose buyers.

My 2018 3500 Laramie dually is just 4 days old. Took it out for a drive at 80 mph. Noticed wind noise. I think its coming from the mirrors, which is the powered mirrors, and mirrors were in normal position. I'm really disappointed with this problem. I will see dealership . Will keep all posted.

For the folks having the wind noise, what type of mirrors do you have? Standard or towing?

Mine's Towing Mirror and also having this noise under high speed driving when against winds.

We recently had high winds in Southern CA and this was the only time I experienced loud howling from the windows closer to my tow mirrors. Other than that its been quiet. Like someone was blowing hard into a saxophone.

Mine does that too, have you get it fixed yet?

I’m getting an annoying road noise from the backside/ rear window area of the rear seats. I just had my brother drive me around while I sat in the back and damn noise is coming thru. Noise can be heard even a 10 mph. I used my phone to record the noise but dont know if anyone can tell a difference.

@NoRamForUconnect Where you getting this noise? I'll be placing some tape tomorrow to see if road noise is gone.

Mine is that weird whistling noise at higher speeds posted in several videos. Dropped mine off at the dealer today to finish some “we owe” stuff and address a couple of TSB’s but I didn’t even bring up the noise until we find out exactly what it is. I don’t want my truck to be the guinea pig.

I have exactly the same noise

I have wind noise on at least on the driver's side and it is bothersome at higher speeds . (Think there is noise also on s the passenger side if I can get the wife to drive soon I will find out.) This morning while I was out and could only go 45 MPH tops I again did my test of folding the mirrors in and see if there was any difference. I think it did lessen the wind noise, but not completely but it seemed like it was a little more severe with the mirrors open. (of course 45 MPH is a slow speed) I did find out that the blind spot warning works even with the mirrors folded in. (have had the vehicle since 12-1 4 2018 no sun roof)

Read every post in this thread because apparently I have strong wind noise on the passenger side above 35mph. I have some hearing loss in my right ear due to an over-zealous firearms student, and never noticed anything myself. Yesterday my nephew, who is as particular as me, noticed it immediately. It's not a whistle or Morse some write about, but definitely turbulent flow on the passenger side. Mirrors folded made no difference. Will try the recirc. Doors are well aligned in jambs and seals intact without deformation. We are going to try taping seams and joints to pinpoint where because a little pressure on the rear passenger door glass helped, but did not stop entirely. Unfortunately, weather isn't going to allow this any time soon.

there is a very large vent behind the rear seats. if you take the rear carpet off you can see it. thats where the noise is coming from.

I found two vents in the rear cab. I noticed while putting some tape on the rear glass this morning. Taping rear window didn't help reduce road noise at all. I'll have to take the rear carpet later today to inspect the vents. Hoping for a missing part or something fixable. This road noise is annoying.

Look down the gap between cab and box towards ground and see if you have the horizontal 4' rubber seal across bottom of opening. Apparently the trucks built after a certain date don't have this seal. It blocks the road noise from being heard through those vents. My Rebel built in July 18 has this rubber seal as well as the side gap vertical seals and is very quiet. Some members are ordering the seal and adding it. This topic is in earlier posts on cab noise threads also. Hope this helps. Some members had missing rear window sealer also.

I just finished reading the whole road noise thread. I guess I posted on the wrong one:cool:

Should there be a rubber seal on the outside of the rear window? I don't have one on mine.

I thought my whistle at 45+ was coming from outside as the recirc button trick didn't seem to do anything. However, now the recirc trick is working and the whistle goes away when on recirc. I must of tried it two dozen times before it started working. Now without fail the recirc stops the noise. Strange.

Where exactly is the rear window seal you mention?
