Why still no MDS Disable 3rd party device?

Damn, I'm the outlier it seems. I wish it would come on more. I rented a 2019 classic and I can get the eco mode on while cruising @ 75. I cant do that with my 2019 new style.
Wow! I've only seen that on a light downgrade. But I frequently see ECO in the 68-70 mph range, and at lower speeds, even more.

I want the MDS disengaged cause I care more about the joy or driving my truck and the sound from my exhaust. I didn't buy a rebel for the fuel mileage, if you bought a truck for good fuel mileage you are a fool. Sitting at 13.9 MPG, if I want good fuel mileage I would be driving my TDI more often.

I'm foolish for saving $500 every year? My old Hemi, no MDS, no eTorque got 12 MPG on my daily stop-and-go commute - my current truck gets almost 18 MPG with the same driving style. Even if gas stays at $2 a gallon, that's roughly $510 every year. If gas goes back up to $3.50/gallon, I'm saving $1650 every year. The best part? I need a truck for hauling, so I would have one regardless, but my choice of truck is saving me money year after year.

Your truck has a feature that saves you money, and you're paying more every year by actively turning it off.. kinda like leaving the back door open because you like the feel of warm air coming out of the furnace. Some might say it's foolish to pay more for a truck with features that make it more efficient, and then actively disable them. Instead you could have bought an old, cheap, dumb truck that never had them in the first place...

Good for you! Yet, not everyone gets this mythical MPG in everyday driving.
What is foolish thought, is preaching to people how to use their vehicles or spend their money. If you like MDS, feel free to keep it enabled.

MDS delete for a better, smoother driving experience.
Either you get it or you don't.
You don't get it.

I'm not telling him what to do - I'm just pointing out that it's *not* foolish to buy a truck based on its fuel economy; especially if you're driving a truck either way you might as well buy the truck that saves you money. My point - if we're discussing what's "foolish" - was more that there are plenty of other trucks that don't have those features and get worse fuel economy, so why pay more for the truck that has them if you're just going to turn them off?

I don't know about you guys, but I bought my truck to do work and get me to my job. The slight "bump" when I get to cruising speed just doesn't get me out of shape. If you just don't like it, that's your personal preference.. but don't try and spin up nonsense like "it doesn't make a difference" when the numbers say the exact opposite.
If your comment assumes I don't care about driving experience, I assure you I perceive more than most. However, when I'm not putting along to work or hauling something and I want a truly excellent driving experience, I grab a different set of keys...

So your truck has absolutely 0 features beyond tradesman trim? No leather? No sunroof? Just bare bones work truck? Because if not, then you're paying for "comfort" or "ease of use" or whatever you want to define it. Something that is less firm than a "requirement". MDS disable is same thing. We want to pay for a feature that will enhance our comfort/pleasure.

Features are not all about money. It's about the experience. You pay more to get a better (to you) experience if you value it.

MDS makes an MPG difference. I don't claim otherwise.
The MPG on this new truck blows, even with MDS on. I can't get better than 12 or so MPG around town regardless of MDS.
I want MDS deleted strictly for a smoother driving experience. I know it's going to cost me money for that 'luxury' in worse MPG.
Maybe it's the environment I drive in, but I am constantly reminded MDS is on/off/on. I feel it, and the truck 'thumps' sometimes when transitioning. It's just a sloppy driving experience around town with it engaging/disengaging all the time.
Again, there are people who 'get' this, and people who don't.

Again, to each their own. My only argument in this thread are comments like "you're a fool if you bought this for fuel mileage" ..because the features that separate the fuel mileage from the Tundra -for example - make a big difference compared to a big dumb V8 that runs as a V8 100% of the time, or "when MDS is running it isn't using less fuel" which is simply false.

If you want to take a quiet truck with loads of noise insulation and put a loud exhaust that drones at every speed, go for it... but don't call people foolish for wanting a quiet truck. If you want to put big dope wheels on your truck that reduce your towing/ cargo capability, go for it... but don't call people foolish for actually wanting to tow. I definitely don't care how you enjoy your truck, but if you're going to call folks "foolish" for buying a truck for its features - and actually using them, and saving money - yeah, I'm going to point out the other side of your thinking.

All I know is my fuel mileage is poopy either way. I bought a limited and expected quality, fit and finish. A jerk motion every time MDS deactivates defeats the purpose.

Then again, not as bad as the auto brske feature for backing up or going forward. Just today while raining and going under a bridge at 15mph the truck jammed on the brakes.

These still have bugs. Just hope for improvement. MDS tech has been around awhile, should not be this notable after this time.

I still don't get what people are complaining about with the "bump" or even really exhaust noise with MDS. I actually turned on the ECO light becIse I couldn't tell if MDS was coming in or not. now that I have the light on, if I really pay attention, I might notice a slight change from time to time, but rarely notice any bump. And even with my Borla ATAK exhaust, inside the cab, there is barely a discernable difference when cruising in exhaust sound. Coming from my 05 Magnum R/T with a loud exhaust that droned, I was expecting to have the annoying MDS sound in exhaust, but I dont notice it at all.

Out of curiosity, do you have eTorque?

I definitely notice when MDS kicks in. It's not very smooth on my truck.

The only fools I see here are the ones who think we should do it or think it their way. This ain't Burger King, but one size does not fit all. I like mine as much as you like yours, but, I'm no fool, no siree, I don't want to do it your way, no siree. We like the RAM for what we like it for, and buy it the way we want it with the options we want. We then accessorize them with the things that we like because it make us feel GOOD, or whatever. So enjoy your ride, but don't call someone else a fool because they like theirs.

I'm just saying nobody buys a truck for the fuel mileage. I need it for hauling, towing, and of course the comfort. Which when I am driving a long distance that is what I am most concerned about, comfort during my trip. The MDS is not a smooth transition, and I also do not want the engine problems that can occur from the use. Chances are engine problems will occur after the 5 year powertrain warranty expires. So I still stand by my "foolish" quote.

Put me in the same camp of people saying they can’t even feel when ECO turns on/off. My truck is so smooth in between, I turned the ECO light on just to give me awareness whether the feature was working or not. Without a doubt, this is the smoothest drivetrain on a vehicle I’ve owned. For reference, I’m also in a standard Hemi with 3.21 gears.

Now that I read this thread and have been looking for this “bump” some of you guys speak of, I noticed if I apply pressure to the gas pedal right before I anticipate ECO turning off, I can feel the bump. I basically have to completely change my driving style to make it happen, and I only encounter it when I’m unnecessarily (JMO) mashing the throttle. Sure there are instances where fast acceleration are necessary, but in my driving conditions, that’s not typically when ECO is engaging.

I totally “get it”... we all drive differently, in different conditions, and some with aftermarket exhaust systems. For me, MDS is a welcome addition... for some of you, it keeps you up at night. Hopefully the aforementioned 3rd party device helps you to rest easy.

Nope, just the regular Hemi
Interesting - I have eTorque and the MDS transition is barely noticeable, so I didn't know if the motor helping out with load transitions made it less noticeable. I guess it really is just a certain batch of truck owners

I like MDS for all my highway driving. Transition is not noticeable at all. Driving around town, however, is a completely different experience. I can feel the truck bog, then kick off every time. So its a mixed bag for me. I use it, and I don't, depending on what driving Im doing. No ETorque for my truck.

Just saying, I do not have eTorque, but I am also muffler deleted. It's pretty darn noticeable when the truck transitions from eco to normal. Being able to permanently turn MDS off would be a great addition to the ever-growing mod list.
