Why still no MDS Disable 3rd party device?

Respectfully have to disagree with this statement.
I drive with a light foot on the gas most of the time. I can feel when the engine is struggling to maintain MDS, and then when it suddenly pop's out of MDS mode. It's extremely noticeable if you're aware of the system and how it works. I would imagine people who don't much care for the intricacies of the modern engine wouldn't notice what was happening, but I am constantly reminded of the MDS system via my right foot, seat of my pants, and the sound/feel of 4 cylinders suddenly coming to life.
It's a great concept, but the reality is it makes the engine feel much less smooth than without it.

Absolutely, I wasn't sensitive to it, but some people are.

Same here, although I never noticed before I replaced the exhaust with a B2 MF. I have since gone back to stock since MDS made it the noise supper annoying, and now I can totally still hear it, faint of course, but still there.
 
MDS is on all the 5.7L Hemis. Interestingly, all the E-Torque 5.7L come with start/stop, but Hemis without E-Torque don't have start/stop.

If you don't have an aftermarket muffler, you likely won't notice MDS operation. Also, I suggest you activate the "Eco" light in your options list for your dash, on current gen RAMs, when the Eco light is on, the MDS is operating.
Eco light? I do have my stock muffler "straight piped" and have noticed once in a while weird sounds.....I guess it's the MDS. What is the "gear thing" i've seen referenced here?

You can temporarily disable MDS by using the shift buttons to manually limit which gear the trans can shift up to. If you put that in 8th gear the trans will function exactly as normal, but MDS will be disabled until you shift out of D. You have to do this every time you shift into D if you want to "permanently" disable MDS.

As Mikeru82 mentioned above, you can disable MDS that way or by using tow/haul mode as well.

The gear limit control switch is on the lower right of your steering wheel. It limits the top gear your transmission will go into, you will see that selection on your gauges, it shows up to the right of the PDNR selector in your dash. Set it to 8, and you will have all gears but MDS will no longer operate. If you shift out of D or turn off the truck, it will reset itself.

The Eco light is a gauge light that on these 2019 RAMs tells you when MDS is operating. It's not on by default, you need to go into your options menu in your radio to activate the light. Also, I recommend turning on your gear indicator, which shows you which gear your tranny is at all times. Not needed, but cool to know.
 
Hope this happens. The main question I have about it is whether it leaves a footprint when removed. I'm a little concerned that my warranty could be voided by it if I have a power train issue.

Zero footprint is the plan - I've come from a modding background and learned personally that plug n' play with no footprint is the sweet spot, especially with anyone leasing, or owning but desire to return to stock at any time

Because the motor generator on the ETourque IS what does the re-starts. Otherwise - the truck would use the REGULAR STARTER to do re-starts (adding extra wear and premature failure to the starter). I had stop start on my last car (Honda Pilot) and it was DAMN ANNOYING. I find it much less so, with the ETorque setup. Then again - I rarely wear my seatbelt (only in the rain, or the highway), and stop/start is disabled with the seatbelt off.

I have a Pedal Commander installed - and it RARELY goes into MDS unless I'm very lightly into the pedal. The PC apparently "takes up the slack" in the pedal position where MDS would nornally kick in all the time. And I don't find it annoying - wish it would do it more (for fuel economy - as evidence by my horrible mileage results). I've done a couple of tankfulls recently - where I stay OUT of the pedal and allow it to go into MDS. Went from 10.xMPG to over 13.

Didn't buy the truck with any great expectations of fuel economy - and we're OK with fuel prices now. But if we had the same prices as, say, 2008 (upwards of $4 per gallon) - I'd likely be HOWLING.

On the RAM, but on my F150 is had for 4 years it used a heavy duty starter system and AGM battery, no issues at all with durability, it was seemless as well. Plus I could turn it off with a button on the dash. Though today, you can get an OBD connector that keeps it off.

Likewise my Honda had a button. But for all intents - the motor/generator and huge crank driven belt are going to do the job more efficiently.

Not sure EPA fuel efficiency #'s had anything to do with the decision to leave the feature off non ET motors. I had no issues with my honda - but the re-starts were jarring. The ET extra battery likely keeps the onboard systems running better when the engine is stopped also.

I got mine - because the Limited with the features I wanted were on the lot - and it seemed every truck the dealer ordered for inventory came with ET.

Gotcha, that makes sense. What I didn't like about my start/stop was that it seemed to come on at inopportune times, like preparing to turn at an intersection (if I didn't cant the wheel enough), which meant my engine turned off and then a moment later had to turn back on, or not turning off when I wanted it to, like at a fast food line because the battery needed more charge or whatever.

The worse is that it negatively effected A/C performance when turned off (of course), which means I turned off the system during summer.
 
I have literally never felt this.
I do in my truck and it feels pretty jarring when it comes out of MDS. I had an early Dodge Challenger with the six-speed manual and they had some stupid 2nd gear lockout that made you shift straight from 1st to 3rd if you didn't have your foot in the accelerator. There were aftermarket solutions to bypass that, which I quickly installed. The manufacturers have to do these sort of silly things to try to meet the fuel economy regulations imposed on them.

I would respectfully have to disagree with you. I have the Borla ATAK on my truck, and barely norice when MDS comes on or off. I have the eco light turned on because a lot of time I wouldn't even notice. It's pretty seamless transition in and out of MDS and whike I can hear it in the exhaust, if I trying to notice it, it's not obnoxious on the inside of the cab when driving as I barely hear the exhaust when cruising.

It's definitely anything but seamless, sorry. If you can notice it everytime it happens, and it irritates you when you notice it, then it's a very frustrating experience driving with it enabled.

It doesn't have to be a gigantic jolt to be considered annoying. As long as you can notice it, and that noticing it drives you nuts. Well, it drives you nuts then.

I don't know why some say it's seamless. Perhaps it works better on some trucks than on others. But if I had to pick an event to notice, say, a gear change vs a MDS transition, I will take a completely smooth downshift/upshift everytime vs MDS switching.

Couldn't agree more. I can def notice it. Very annoying, and making me look at other brands that don't have this in their engines next time around. That's how bad it is (for me).

I believe you that it's not noticeable to YOU.
But many of us are ultra sensitive to the symphony of the engine/transmission/driveline.
I think, for me, living in Florida where it's predominantly flat may increase the amount of times MDS kicks in and out. Since it's flat, and I drive with a light foot, the MDS is on a LOT. But the minute I want to accelerate slightly I can feel the engine struggling to hold on to MDS. It doesn't want to give up 4 cylinder mode until the last second; and at that point when the engine finally relinquishes power to the other 4 cylinders, it causes a noticeable 'BUMP' in the driveline. Happens all the time.
I'm amazed at how incredibly butter-smooth this rig is when MDS is off. It's the smoothest engine/transmission combo I've ever driven.
Maybe people who live in hill-country aren't as affected by MDS because it's not being used nearly as much?

I did a muffler delete and MDS is very noticeable to me now but I also hate the stop/start feature since I deleted my muffler. I'm in the habit of pressing the Tow/Haul toggle every time I start my truck and it seems to disable both. I'm assuming it's OK to alway run with Tow/Haul off???

You're fine running with tow/haul mode as long as you don't mind even worse gas mileage that we have already, and the fact that you're getting additional engine braking when going down hills.
