I've read thst there's significant changes in the 21/22 etorque model years vs the 19/20. From what I've read, I wouldn't want the 21/22 etorque tuning
The change was made for '22 and up models. I had a '20 and a '21, and both behaved the same way.

I have a 2021 RAM Hemi V8 with eTorque and it has operated flawlessly for 2 years plus. I do NOT experience a herky-jerky start at a red light when it turns green. Nick Capps, a RAM product specialist discusses the eTorque system in the YouTube video link below, if anyone is interested in learning more about this mild-hybrid system:

I will swing by. When was the last update pushed?
I think there is 1 more after mine, but I had mine done on 6/23/22.
Got rid of the surging, but it's still the same system.

I have another 2 notices from 12/2/22. 1 for the ECM and other for TCM.
Looks like the ECM explicitly adjusts start-stop restarts. Wonder if it's better or sucks.

I ended up calling the dealership and they said BOTH of the December ECM and TCM updates got pulled\removed. So I don't know why, they wouldn't really give me much information.

I dumpedy 22 rebel eTorque after it stalled on me 2x crossing oncoming traffic. (Didn't have any issues with my 2019 I had previously).
See post here if interested.

**They just released another update that's supposed to fix this time... Maybe. latest TSB fix here. **

Like was mentioned before, etorque changed in 2022. Prior to 2022 acts quite different in my experience than 2022 onward. I test drove a 2021 which convinced me the system worked very smoothly and without lag. When my 2022 came in a felt the difference. Sometimes I am good with it, sometimes I hate it. It shuts the engine off around 3 mph (old system shut off when completely stopped) and if you are coming to a complete stop it’s ok. If you are still moving , like in stop and go traffic or pulling into a parking spot, it will sometimes surge forward. It is unsettling to say the least. So far I haven’t hit anything but it sure does feel like it is only a matter of time. There also seems to be a significant lag when pulling away from a stop. Not always , but it happens. Ram made an update to the system mid 2022 that helped quite a bit but didn’t solve it completely. I suspect future programing could fix it.

I drive quite a bit of city use and drive like an old man. I have not seen significant mpg savings. I’m around 15 mpg. Highway rarely if ever breaks 20 mpg.

That's a good description of how my 2019 eTorque worked (great) vs the 22 eTorque I had ordered (poor).
Hopefully they get it worked out.

Mine was last in and got the update in July so it prob has the same as you. It fixed a large part of the surging but not all of it. I'll see ask if there are newer updates.

I'll put it this way, mine (etorque) works so well and the truck overall that when I took it in last Saturday for an alignment, I told them not to update anything without discussing it with me 1st

I don't have the eTorque system, but I enjoyed the video. It was informative. Thanks.

I have had a couple etorques and have had no trouble. It is a better system than other brands of start stop. If it needs to adjust temperature, it restarts. My girlfriends ford just gets hot. She hates her start stop.

4 years with ET, previous truck was a 2019. No complaints and no issues with either truck.

There are several threads in this forum about problems related with ETorque engines, some problems sounds really bad. I never wanted ETorque. LOL the benefits of this system are not worth the complexity of this design. I would like to have hybrid engine, but real hybrid, not so called mild hybrid or 10% hybrid.

I'm still happy with mine, 4 1/2 years and no issues that said if one thing breaks on it it will cost more to get it fixed then the little bit of fuel I saved.
7 year warranty. So you still have a few years of free etorque repairs.

I didn’t realize non-etorque trucks don’t have auto stop start? That’s only an etorque feature? Interesting! I keep it on most of the time, but if I’m in stop and go traffic I turn it off so the engine/ignition isn’t cycling on & off every few seconds
Yes I believe it’s a feature of the ET system. I don’t have auto stop start

Ordering a '23 there was no non etorqe option. Now that I have it I do like it. I think it is one of the best stop/start systems out there. But as stated living in the country mine gets little use.
