How does one even do that?I cleaned my windshield.
And put a 4" scratch on the inside of it.
That's exactly what I asked myself. How does one even do that?

Always remove rings and watches before working on vehicle, rule No. 1.That's exactly what I asked myself.
Answer : My ring scratched it while my hand slipped off the towel I was using to clean.
Yeah, I knew better.Always remove rings and watches before working on vehicle, rule No. 1.
I cleaned my windshield.
And put a 4" scratch on the inside of it.
Can't you get that scratch repaired though? It doesn't look bad enought to warrant a replacement.I've been quoted 500 for an OEE windshield replacement and 850 for OEM at a privately owned company w/o recalibration. They say over 90% don't require it. If so, it'd be a trip to the dealer and their cost.
For those asking where the scratch is, it's right here:
I took it to a glass place today. They were able to reduce only the light marks slightly with some compound and a wheel, but it is very deep with a few cross-direction chips in it. It's ugly. Can't you get that scratch repaired though? It doesn't look bad enought to warrant a replacement.
Not on screen at least.
You must have been really giving that glass all u got!I took it to a glass place today. They were able to reduce only the light marks slightly with some compound and a wheel, but it is very deep with a few cross-direction chips in it. It's ugly.
It's not directly in my line-of-sight. I can live with it short-term, but I will eventually replace it so I'm not continuously reminded of my stupidity in such dramatic fashion.
Get a silicone ring for everyday wear. Only have a "nice" one for special occasionsI cleaned my windshield.
