Upgrade or “Downgrade” Sound system on 2019 Limited

You'd be able to tell if your 900 watt system wasn't sounding like it should, the second I got my truck I knew something was wrong. After reading the forums people were talking about the same issue on older FCA products and how an update solved the problem so I wasn't as worried when I bought it, just had to be patient for the update. Can't wait for my appointment on Monday so I can really jam out on my 3 minute drive to work.
Agree100%.... I have a later build and the HK system is awesome. They must have listened and made significant changes because I can’t imagine a much better sound system that is factory installed in a truck.

If your truck was built after august 28th it would've came with the update.

Just had the the TSB done. Definitely better gain on the volume. If I was to guess it would be about 50% more volume. If I hit 20ish on the knob it’s pretty darn loud. Also good improvement on SQ. Before the the upper door speakers were hardly playing. I can definitely hear them now and the sound is full and little more crisp. Little bit better on midbass with impact. Still think the HK system is lacking but pretty darn happy for now.

Edit: the bass is also better. Little more snap and not as muddy.
Thanks for your update, I realize the same improvements on my system. Believe me you’ll be listening at 15 almost all the time. Listen some Tracy Chapman on it (remastered) or if you like Latin music play some salsa, like (Vuela muy alto versión salsa from Jerry Rivera.)

Got my truck back from the dealer today and I would be lying if I wasn't very upset. Talked to the advisor and he said it was all done so I signed the paper, got my keys and left. From the second I pressed play there was absolutely no difference in sound volume and quality, upon further inspection of the receipt they stated that the TSB didn't apply to my truck, which is completely false. Fed up with my dealer, they should've called my and told me "this TSB doesn't apply to your truck," not keep it for three hours and do absolutely nothing to it.

P.S. They also ordered the repair parts for the hood fluttering, (I know there is a TSB out for this, but my hood doesn't flutter) if they so much as touch my hood when I take it in to get this straightened out, I will be furious.

Don't waste your time and take it to a new dealer. If they can't accomplish a simple firmware update on the amp, imagine the damage they will do to your truck if you let them wrench on it.

Went and showed the service manager and he stated that it sounded great, I said both my parents own rams with the alpine system and would NEVER turn it up all the way, just too loud to comfortably listen to. He said I should contact Chrysler....great customer service for someone whose a potential customer for the next 60 years

dropped off my truck this morning to get the ABS re-programmed due to the recall notice. I brought the TSB for the amp with me and requested they update the firmware because I wasn't happy with the system (even though I was lol). I also requested them to update the TCM/PCM because of some slight jerky downshifting when coming to a stop light from time to time.

We shall see how the dealer returns the truck to me...... Always get worried when dealer has my vehicle.

Hi, I am a really happy owner of a 2019 Limited with Harman Kardon audio, well, that’s the problem, I trade my 2017 Laramie with alpine system and I feel really disappointed with this new Harman Kardon 19 speaker system, I try to lie myself saying this sound more crisp, surround, etc. In fact the best stock sound system I’ve ever heard in my life was the Laramie’s alpine sound system.

is there anyway I can replace the HK system for the alpine?
Or anything better?

I'm with you. Loaded Laramie with the Harman Kardon and my father in laws 2018 1500 with the Alpine smokes mine!

Here at the dealer... they told me I didn’t qualify for the update because I didn’t have the right option code! I told them why they said I needed the 12in screen and the HK system and I was like and that’s WTF I have!!!! So they put the truck back in the bay and here I am waiting for them to update my ****!!

Sooooo.... The update was successful and I will say that all the way up to around 20 it sounds the same as before but past twenty it is noticeably louder. When I put it to max it was extremely loud which wasn't present before. I would almost say uncomfortably loud lol.

I have to go back on Monday morning so they can perform the TCM update.

I got lost here , what is TSB ? And what is TCM/PCM? I have appointment next week for multiple issues and I want to bring this up to them I have same problem after 20 volume feels week and no bass !

LOL you made me laugh I woke up my wife , those advisors amaiz me of how smart they are !
