To each their own. Coming from the B&W in my Volvo, I am more than satisfied.
Totally agree that many people are completely happy with it. It’s just that some of us, maybe even the majority are little unsatisfied when forced to purchase the “premium” stereo because of other features were wanted that was only included in a ceratain package. If that’s the way FCA wants to market something then they need to stand behind all of their statements that we read and see on TV commercials. I feel with as many threads there are for the HK being subpar I believe there is an issue.

I remember at one time someone could order a new vehicle and get exactly what they want. Not you have to get this because it’s in this package. Good times.

Well here it is. I took the truck to the dealer. As our friend 202snowman did. I mentioned the issue of low volume level and they had no idea what I was talking about, but they called Detroit and the confirm there was an amplifier update which they download (truck spend 10 hours at the dealer) and they performed the update, Believe it or not it improved not just the volume but also sound quality overall. There’s still a lack of bass response compared to my old Laramie but I think it’s because woofer location. So I’m more than happy now. Here is the picture of the paperwork

I made my appointment for monday, even printed out the TSB to give to the service manager. Pretty confident it will help, can't get much worse for a 900 watt system lol.

Just had the the TSB done. Definitely better gain on the volume. If I was to guess it would be about 50% more volume. If I hit 20ish on the knob it’s pretty darn loud. Also good improvement on SQ. Before the the upper door speakers were hardly playing. I can definitely hear them now and the sound is full and little more crisp. Little bit better on midbass with impact. Still think the HK system is lacking but pretty darn happy for now.

Edit: the bass is also better. Little more snap and not as muddy.

Since the update, I had to lower the bass to -4, where before I was at +2. I did run a RTA app on my phone in order to adjust for a better response. Pink noise over Bluetooth. I ended moving the mid down -2 and the treble to -3 to get a flat response with some roll off at the top.

Not real accurate by any means.

Need to use REW to get it right.

RUN to your dealer with this TSB and have them do the firmware update on the amp IMMEDIATELY!!! HUGE DIFFERENCE. It will get loud now and make your ears bleed.

Yup. After listening some more I now hear more high end sparkle which it was lacking and I like.

I may have to setup an appointment and try to update you guys are raving about. I am happy with how it sounds now but you all are making it tempting to update. Sometimes updates just **** **** up tho :/

You'd be able to tell if your 900 watt system wasn't sounding like it should, the second I got my truck I knew something was wrong. After reading the forums people were talking about the same issue on older FCA products and how an update solved the problem so I wasn't as worried when I bought it, just had to be patient for the update. Can't wait for my appointment on Monday so I can really jam out on my 3 minute drive to work.
