Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Worked on pairing mine today. Tried several times and could not get it to recognize the first one, even tried other tires.

I have a Tazer on my TRX and decided to remove it and see if that made a difference, it’s not married BTW only Live settings. After removal, the radio acted weird and did some updates. I tried again and the set tire pressure was defaulted to 409. It did not work.

A couple more reboots of the truck and it finally had 50 as the default pressure. I tried and boom, it worked.

I just had a radio update the other day also so that might just be timing.

Yeah maybe but I also had the update a few days ago. What’s odd is when trying to set it up with the Tazer installed, everything looked and acted normal; it showed 2 axles, 4 tires and default pressure was 50 just wouldn’t connect. As soon as I removed it, it showed 1 axle but 4 tires and a default pressure of 409, very strange. Couple of reboots (on its own and forced with ignition) and it started working.

Just a heads up if anyone tries to do it with the Tazer and cannot.

@Jimmy07 - excellent work on the harness. Worked great. I had to use pin #35 instead of #16 as well.

@db252 - GREAT pics and information.

I had to order another 4 pack of sensors to get the two extras. Taking the trailer to the tire shop tomorrow to get the sensors installed. Appreciate the programming tips. 4/16 Update - pairing very simple and worked per the infotainment instructions. Most tires paired (evidence by the horn) within 2 seconds of the 5 second air release. A few took 10-15 seconds after the 5 second release before the horn would sound.

If anybody needs two brand new sensors from the 2nd 4-pack send a PM. I'll post in the classifieds soon as well.

3 years later...about to turn in my leased 21 (4x4, Hemi ET, Crew, 5'7", 3.92, Big Horn). Replaced with a leased 2024 (4x4, Hemi ET, Crew, 5'7" 3.92, Laramie AND 33 gallon).

Does anyone know if the parts are the same to add trailer TPMS? Would like to save a few $$ and swap the modules over if possible. Not sure if I'll need the @Jimmy07 harness or not.

Everything can transfer over to the 2024 except the receiver. It needs to be 68526635AB

Thanks @Jimmy07 . When I removed the harness you made - unfortunately several of the wires came out w/o the pin attached. What is the part # to order new pins to crimp onto your harness? Will order at same time as the receiver.

I don't have my trailer close to verify the install - but everything is swapped over from the 2021 to the 2024 with the new receiver part #. I have the option to program the tires in the 12" screen and no errors. Thanks again - great thread.

I have the receiver from my 2021 part # 68375990AC available. Figuring there may be more interest in this thread than lost in the classifieds - PM if interested. Looks like it's $90-100. I'll sell for $50 w/ shipping included in the lower 48.

I still wish there was a universal screen that would read the Mopar trailer tire sensors. I'd like to use it in my Ford truck also. But I haven't found anything on the Web.

I'm on my 2nd Ram lease and haven't had the luxury of ordering a truck built to spec. I'm also in FL where car dealers are particularly devious - so I'm better off buying from dealer inventory in a friendlier state. I tried both in 21 and 24 to find one equipped with the tow package - impossible to find especially with the already hard-to-find 3.92 axle ratio (and now 33 gallon tank). This forum and thread were hugely helpful and I was able to easily add the feature to both trucks for minimal $.

On a related option - I find it really odd that almost every truck has the trailer brake controller. All my trailers - including anything I rent - has surge brakes. A trailer brake controller is also a relatively common / aftermarket item.

I swear I saw an aftermarket system for trailer tire pressure. Possibly on etrailer.com, I get their emails all the time, because I bought trailer tires there before.

If you are in Florida, go to Mark Dodge, in Lake Charles, Lousiana. Order there for big discounts. If you are in northern Florida, you might be within their 250 mile radius for free delivery. It was worth it for me, to fly to Houston, where they picked me up, to take delivery, and drive back to Michigan. Same here, my boat trailer has surge, but the newer trailers are coming with electric over hydraulic, the best of both worlds.

I am about to place an order for my 2023 1500 but there seems to be some confusion in receiver part numbers. Both show they are for 2022 thru 2024

68583952AA 2020-2024 Ram 1500 Wireless Control Module Receiver 68583952AA | Mopar eStore

or 68526635ab 68526635AB - Wireless Control Module Receiver 2022-2024 Ram | Weaver Parts Online

I could be wrong, but I'm seeing the 68583952AA number as being the RF Hub module used for your key fobs and such. The two items that I see showing up for a 2023 Ram 1500 for trailer tire pressure monitoring are 68526635AB for the receiver and 68493608AA for the module itself. I'm not sure on the 2023 but on my 2021 I had to get both parts. The receiver was behind the bumper and the module went behind the back seats. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.
I went back and found this that should be the correct ones for my 2023.
RECEIVER. Wireless Control Module.

Part Number: 68526635AB
Supersession(s): 68526635AA

MODULE. Gateway.

Part Number: 68493608AA

The jumper cable 68412666aa shows it only fits 2500 and 3500.

The correct jumper for 2021-2024 1500 is

Trailer Tow Wiring - Mopar (68470828AB)

2021-2024 Ram 1500 - 68470828ab

I do not have the connector at the bumper on my 2023 1500 Laramie. Has anyone else done this upgrade to a 2023?

I ordered the parts today. @Jimmy07 made the harness for me. I installed it today. Once the parts arrive, I will complete the install and share the right up.

Hello. After reading through this thread I failed to find an answer on if anyone was successful on adding ttpms to a 2019 or 2020 DT. And yes, there is a 100% chance I missed that answer. Can someone please take the time to tell me if it can be done on a 2020 1500? Thanks
