Top Glove Box Light Stays On

I had the glovebox issue on both the lower glovebox and the upper. I put a small felt pad on the lower and it pushes in the switch further now and turns off when closed. My upper glovebox light stays on when it is closed but I also thought it was just part of the Ambient lighting.

I have another question and it might be addressed in a different thread I haven't seen. Does your 12 inch screen come on when the door handle is pulled trying to open it when there isn't a Key Fob present? Just thinking that this would drain the battery if someone nefarious kept doing this.

I also have this issue on my Laramie. I don't like the fact that I have to take my new truck to the dealership already :(

My new Limited is having an issue with the upper light as well, Mine doesn't want to turn on at all, just the accent light is on by the hinge. I called the dealer and they said they would take a look at it, but it will not be until sometime next week. Does anyone know where the contact is for the switch so I can check it out first?

Took my truck in for the light being on with upper glove box. They claim to have ordered some parts, but haven’t heard from the dealer yet ( almost two weeks). Well they left the bulb out and gave back my truck. Well this caused a few issues, some other interior lights now do not work, the fog lights won’t come and neither will the high beams! I really could use the high beams since I drive county roads with lots of deer. Calling them today.

I find it hard to believe that removing the LED from the upper glove box would cause so many other lamps to not be working. I'm suspecting an unintentional action!

Any updates on this from the thread members? So far a felt pad has been used, and it sounds like the latch changed (did that star case S1823000022 have a resolution?). Anyone else had luck getting the glovebox light (not the ambient light) to turn off when closing the lid? Looks real poor at night.

I'm also having this issue with the upper glove box becoming slightly unlatched. The girlfriend HATES it. hahaha
Mine does same thing the door i think opens just a little bit when driving maybe from being jarred from hitting bumbs the light then comes on, i can reach over and push down on the glove box door and the light shuts off, but as i drive it eventually comes on again. I'm thinking it isn't latching right.

Mine stays on too. I believe it suppose to be on at night with all the other inside the cabin floor and door lights. You can turn these off with the scroll switch on the left of the steering wheel.
Mine comes on as I'm driving i reach over and push on glove box door and light shuts off but as i drive it eventually comes on again. I think the vibration when driving is causing the door to open just enough to take the pressure off the light switch

Mine does the exact same thing. Figured I would have it looked at AFTER the laundry list of issues are addressed.

I took delivery of my 2019 last July and the upper glove box light was on all the time. According to the technician, there was no way to adjust the switch which controls it, so they replaced the entire Upper Glove Box. Based on experience, this was somewhat common on early builds but has since been resolved.

Best regards,
Dusty

I purchased a new 2019 Ram 1500 Lonestar and noticed the light on in the upper glove box when driving at night when the door was closed. I took it to the dealer and they kept it 3 days trying to fix the problem. The dearer told me they had read a Star report indicating the glove box door needed to be closed with a little more force to seat the door. When I picked up the truck today, the light was off but when I drove it about a mile, the light came back on. I closed the glove box door again and the light went off but when I drove over a bump the door moved and the light came back on. I will take it back to the dealer again and hope they will fix it this time.

Mine was replaced at the dealer, and now thankfully my glove box latches as its supposed too. Really hammer home that it is a distraction at night when you are driving, and that it makes you uncomfortable. Because, that's the truth .. it's a distraction. Dont be afraid to get ram cares involved. They are great!

I had the same issue a while back. The door would close, but after driving a little would wiggle open just enough to activate the light. Dealer simply adjusted the door, it took them a few minutes and I haven't had the issue since.

Hello my early build(3/2018) RAM had it's upper glove box replaced as the light would not turn off at all. After replacement, the upper light does turn off almost a 1/4" gap from closing. I happened to get a late build Laramie (12/18) rental on a business trip a few weeks back and it also turned off the light with 1/4" gap. Been 2+ months and light is turning off before fully closing. BTW the glove box did look like it was not aligned straight(seemed to close with a slight gap) and now looks straight after replacement.

Cheers,
Con

My Ram 1500 build date was 5/2018. I got my truck back from the dealer a few days ago and the light still comes on after driving for a while or when you drive over a bump. You can even tap above or below the door and the door moves up slightly enough for the light to come on. They said the door was replaced. I will take it back tomorrow for the third time. Hope they fix it this time....very frustrating.

I noted this awhile back on my glovebox light; my build date 10/2018.

Would not this slowly zap battery juice/staying on???? I know...I know...need to take it to dealership!!!
