The dreaded leaking and cracked rear window frame

to clarify, is the cracked rear window frame covered by my extended mopar warranty or by this extended warranty from the bulletin to apply sealant? my dealer wants to pre-charge me 4 hrs ($900+) to diagnose and keep my car for a week with no loaner... i def have 2 cracks on rear window frame and leaking... @RamCares 2019 with 38k miles

I did that and the shark fin after the back glass. Was already up there so why not

For the shark fin, did you do the only the center gasket? I'm wondering because the outside gasket along the edge has a back slit to allow water to exit. I want to preemtively do my back window and 3rd brake light, but was also considering the shark fin.

I've continued to have the water leak issue on my 2021 Laramie. The first time, under the older TSB the dealership replaced the rear sliding window. When that didn't fix the issue, I took it in a 2nd time and they diagnosed it as the 3rd brake light and either replaced the light or just replaced the gasket. The leaks stopped for almost a year. Then with the recent rain we had in SoCal I noticed my window leaking in the upper driver's side corner. Can't tell if there is a small crack on the window frame but somehow water is getting in. Took it to the dealership and they confirmed the new TSB is to use the flowable sealant. I was surprised that this would be the fix for a known issue like this. From my experience with any kind of silicone, it is only a temporary fix and will eventually fail. Maybe it won't, but my confidence isn't strong with this kind of fix. I called Ram Care and they are not much help. They led me to believe that the older TSB was still in effect for my vehicle allowing for a full window replacement, but the dealership said no and showed me the new TSB superseding the older TSB. Calling Ram again, they can't seem to figure it out and keep telling me that they will call me back after investigating the issue, which they haven't. I am going to go with the dealership applying the sealant and hope for the best. At least it will be under an extended warranty that I believe is 8 years or 150,000 miles. The question is what is the next fix if it still leaks. What will the warrant do to cover future leaks? You can't usually apply more sealant on top of old sealant, and I can't imagine that it will be easy to remove the sealant that they will be applying. Time will tell...

Did Ram update or correct this issue on the Rams or are they still same windows?

I'm guessing mine has to have a crack too. Originally, the first time I had the problem both upper corners were leaking. Then dealership supposedly replaced the back window. Now it is only the upper driver's side corner. Here is what mine looks like. It is basically the same as yours.
Your headliner is wet, I did not have that with the cracked corners.

If there is a crack, maybe mine is more towards the middle of the frame, but who knows. It's all a little frustrating regardless that these windows have to leak... I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma that I accidentally broke the sliding rear glass and replaced it with a piece of glass from Home Depot. It was a quick fix and meant to be temporary. It's been like that for over 6 years and that doesn't leak as much as the Ram. Aside from the window, though, haven't had any other issues. I really do like the Ram. It's been a great truck so far.

The tube of flowable sealant is just as easy a fix. My truck is 7 years old, hasn't leaked yet, but when it does, I'm doing this.

Had mine crack in two spots only thing the dealer does now is reseal the window, which I could have done, and replaced the third brake light. My issue was when they supposedly fixed the rear window it made it worse. Contacted stellantis and dealership both said go through the insurance because the whole window had to be replaced. The trim is not trim it’s all one piece I’ve seen my old one at my body shop I used it’s terrible how they made the structure of this window.

LOL why would they update it? ram don't make the windows hopefully they corrected the supplier's but i doubt it.
as long as it lasts long enough to get you out of warrantee that's all any manufacturer cares about then it's your problem.

Mine is currently at the dealership getting the flowable sealant put on. I am nervous about what it is going to look like when it's done. Hopefully the tech is not messy with the stuff. I am hoping it works, but I feel that it is only a band aid and the issue will come back. If it doesn't solve the problem then I will probably go with replacing the window myself. Sucks that Stellantis went away from replacing the entire window.

Did your insurance cover the cost of the repair for a new window?

I just went around the outside of the shark fin, where it meets the cab. I didn't feel like taking the headliner down to unscrew it
