TAZER DT for 2019 RAM 1500

Any word through communications with Tazer DT on Upgraded the ability to use Bluetooth and an APP to control, Marry/Unmarry, Light show, Id prefer not having to connect reconnect every oil change, tire rotation, recall etc.?
What exactly are you looking for...I am confused? You don't need to remove for an oil change or a tire rotation...I haven't. The APP control IS bluetooth and works great. Sorry for not understanding your post.

Product add-on idea
When you put the truck in reverse, the 12" screen has the top half with the backup camera and the bottom half with the heated seat controls. And for those with a 360° camera, the top half is shared with the 360° view and rear view. This is a really stupid design. Why do i care about my heated seats when i am reversing. How about the top half be the 360° view and the bottom half be the rear view (or vise-versa). Lets use the entire 12" screen to our advantage.

What is APP control exactly? The tazer can only be updated via USB correct?

With dealer involved service they always flash computer. It is inconvenient to connect reconnect devices, IE, hypertech, P.C. when technology is available o Bluetooth connection. I'm willing to wager these Co,s will provide the wireless connection. I'm going wait. The connection terminals are not designed for repeated connection, re-connection. The firewall this device disables is to provide a change in Truck settings. The Security module it is pretty much an on off switch. Off allowing programming/On prevent hacking (why the Security module system was developed). This post is not to get readers excited like previous responses. My opinion/observations.

My "opinion" is as follows:

1. Dealers do NOT always flash the computer so that is a strong and inaccurate statement. If the tech sees an update that your vehicle calls for (few and far between) they will flash a module or if a TSB requires a software update then they will do the same if you experience that specific issue. They don't flash for the sake of flashing!
2. If you wait for these devices to go wireless, you'll be waiting a VERY long time. And, if they do, something has to physically connect to the vehicle for the wireless device to communicate with so your thinking is a bit flawed
3. Who are you to say that the terminals aren't designed for repeat connections? As an EE, they look fairly robust to me and I have seen nothing that indicates this will be an issue over time so if you have FACTS, then please state them for all to see. As long as you do not PULL by the wires and disconnect properly they should remain trouble-free
4. The SGM (Security Gateway Module) was designed and installed in ALL FCA vehicles after folks were able to remotely hack into Chrysler vehicles via their cellular connection like was seen on the news. It must be also be connected in order for communications to take place between the OBD2 port and the vehicles various control modules hence why flashing requires it to be connected

My "opinion/observations" ;)

My tazer took a crap after two weeks use. The music would go in and off every few seconds and backup cam was blue unavailable. Uninstalled it and everything works. Now if they will only reply to my emails to get it replaced or refunded

Question regarding the installation. When I plug in the "smaller" cable it does not fit flush like the larger one. The Tazer DT does blink green and red though suggesting it is connected. When I start the truck while I do get some of the options on the "Audio screen" (I haven't fully explored if all are present) my radio does not turn on and the screen is blank (which may be because of the not flush smaller cable fitment, but not sure).

They should both plug in the same and sit at the same height. They should click in place like a RJ45 connector on a computer does.

Thanks for responding. That's what I suspected and likely why my radio wasn't turning on. I'll try again in the morning.

I had one that caused my truck to throw a bunch of codes. Sent it back and got my money back lol. But to get a refund I think you have to ask for it within 30 days of purchase.

After inspecting the Tazer DT I noticed one of the end pins was slightly bent. Poked it straight, fit perfectly, and now working.

But Jezze - don't you wish they made the manual easier to understand (or at least UPDATED the damn thing).

Got mine in yesterday. Updated the firmware to the latest before installing.

First issue - the SGM wasn't where the installation guide said it was - ended up finding it.

After fiddling around for awhile - I finally got the feature set where I wanted it.

Notice something strange though (probably a product of how how it bypasses the feature lockout). When I'm moving and hit backup camera - then surround - I get the cams (and selection) but the surround camera and running board deploy buttons "flicker" on the control display.

I screwed a bunch of stuff up initially - cameras stopped working, then the non-existent cargo bed camera button was there (turned it off).

I know there's a button cheat sheet somewhere (illustrated) on the forum - I printed it out and attached it to the instructions.

Is there a "play by play" for each feature, and it's setting results (which are confusing as all get out on the supplied instructions - it's like Yoda wrote them). For the record - I am a GEEK (computers, cars, etc.), so it's not like I've never messed with tech - I do it for a living.

At any rate - even with the "group buy" discount that was setup last week - it this REALLY WORTH THE $$ for the features I use? Probably NOT. Folks might actually take advantage or more of the features (tire size adjustment, etc). But I DO LOVE TOYS - and it did correct some of the more "annoying little things".

Not sure if AlphaOBD (and the requisite interface) is worth the additional expense or learning curve. But overall - for a "hacking tool" - it's pretty decent as far as being "removable without leaving a trace" for warranty purposes.

YMMV...

Got my tazer last week. beeddd to adjust speedo for new tires and it was a bonus to have auto folding mirrors and be able to use the keyboard besides when stoped.

Fist hook up went great. after a few hours though I got the blue screen for cameras.

Removed everything let sit over night and back to normal.

Hooked up again and worked great for a few days. Then my backlight on the radio and dash would not turn off. Removed again back to normal sent a email to tazer. Maybe a issue with the 12 inch? But hoping a small bug they can fix as all other features work great.

More bugs...

Now my "walkaway headlight" feature (where the headlights stay on for 60 seconds, or whatever you set them to after you turn the truck off) isn't working, even though it's set correctly in the head unit.

Kind of important to me, I live on a dark street and it's nice to have my entryway lit while I go into the house.

Starting to get frustrated with what does & doesn't work with this thing. Marking the calendar for the cut-off to just ditch it for a refund. Seems like the light show is the only thing that works consistenly.

I had a weird issue with mine last weekend (or 2 ago) since it had been getting cold (below freezing) at night.
I got home and popped the hood, and locked the door (habit when I exit the vehicle).
I walked into the garage to start grabbing the RAM AIR, and I started hearing the 'alarm' go off .. I was like, "crap - that's crazy" .. and noticed my pre-programmed DT TAZER light show also going off ..
It was kind of neat, I suppose, but was not expecting either (the alarm for the open hood nor the light show).

It's just another expensive toy lol. I had one and kept getting codes. Took it out and everything went back to normal. It wasn't worth it to me so I returned mine for a refund. Some people on the forum has had great experience with it. It just wasn't for me.

Been pondering this but too many people having issues.
Curious. Is anyone not having problems with this product?
