I took my 2023 Ram 1500 eTorque in for the abs configuration firmware flash recall a week ago and then 3 days later my check engine light came on, immediately after, the battery light came on. Which from what I understand is a charging issue. I returned my truck to the dealer and they found the generator is not charging. So they called around the nation dealers to find one since the warehouse did not have any in stock. (Concerning). They just installed the new generator yesterday and it is not outputting any charge when it receives the command to do so. At least that is what I was told from the dealer. So they submitted a ticket to some STAR system. I assume that is like a help desk for Dodge technicians?
Maybe a coincidence that 3 days after a firmware flash, this occurs. Sounds to me like either the new generator is faulty from the factory again given the fact that it is receiving a charge signal but nothing outputs. This is my first Dodge truck.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I only have 39000 miles on it. It worth noting the dealer had mentioned they have replaced a couple of these generators this year.
My embedded firmware experience leads me to ask if there is another micro on the charging system that talks to the abs module and something in the abs module firmware update requires the charging system micro firmware to be updated as well? Although if the charge command is being received at the generator with no output from the generator, seems to be mechanical.
I am sure there is way more to it than I understand but curious.
Thank you in advance.
