Stellantis recalls 1.5M Ram trucks to fix software bug that can disable stability control

I swung by my dealer yesterday and got the update done. IDK if it was a coincidence or the issue… a month ago I panic stopped approaching an intersection and my tires slid instead of pulsed. Idk if maybe the road conditions and computer dictated the brake behavior or if it was related to the recall. Maybe that’s just how the ABS works.

I received a notice that the recall exists, but at this time there is no fix and I would receive additional communication once a solution is found. I guess it could be because they aren’t ready to service the 2022 yet?

Same

My 2023 with 9000 miles on it is one of the ones that failed. It been at the dealer for 7 1/2 weeks waiting on new module. I would recommend getting recall done as my truck wouldn't start on day one started on day two that I was planning on towing it but wouldn't shift to drive. It's been a very bad experience so far and timing couldn't have been worse.

Can you elaborate on "failed"? Symptoms/messages? Not starting, not shifting, seems odd these would be related to the ABS software recall...

First sign of a problem truck wouldn't start checked battery (AAA checked it) planned for tow to dealer next day. For kicks I tried to start and it did but wouldn't shift into drive. Every warning imaginable about brakes showed on dash. Tow truck guy said emergency brakes were locked on even after he pulled secret release cord. Dragged truck onto flatbed then bounced it off at dealer. Dealer said antilock brake module needs replaced waiting for going on 8 weeks for it.

I'm a little surprised that there's not more news on this one. My problem was on labor day weekend and I read a little press release a week later about a recall. Seems to me if your emergency brake were to lock up at highway speed and you didn't lose control someone would likely run into you.
I'm not sure what's wrong with module but it seems like more than a software update. I was told I'm getting a redesigned part thus the long delay.

That's not related to this recall.

You have a different problem than this recall addresses.

Nov 3rd 2024 and still no fix

sad
It's obviously not a major issue on the older model years. And considering they skip 2020 all together......

And you have never answered if you are experiencing this issue that you are complaining about no "fix".

There are MANY more recalls from Stellantis that don't have a fix yet. This one is nothing compared to the ones that can cause the vehicles to start on fire.

Not sure if you are here experiencing the issue or just being a negative person in general.

Just came across this today

Stellantis is recalling nearly 1.5 million Ram pickup trucks worldwide to fix a software problem that can disable the electronic stability control system.

The recall covers certain trucks from the 2019 and 2021 through 2024 model years, mostly in North America.

Stellantis said in a statement Saturday that the trucks may have anti-lock brake software that could inadvertently shut down the stability control, which manages the throttle and brakes to avoid skidding.

If that happens, the company said the brakes would still work. Stellantis said it's not aware of any crashes or injuries from the problem.

U.S. safety standards require electronic stability control to work during nearly all phases of driving, the company says.

Dealers will update software to fix the problem at no cost to owners, who will be notified by letters starting Oct. 3.
Got my notice, called the Dealership and was told the Recall is real, but they do not got what it takes to fix the problem. I do not know if it is a hardware or software problem.. The Dealership told me they would get back to me when they could fix the problem, and I should not be to worried about it, just pump the brakes in hard braking situations to prevent the tires from skidding... Old School stuff.... lol

Same for my 2019 (received today). Hasn’t affected me in the past 6 years, thankfully.

Got the letter in the mail and notice on the RAM app. Took it in last week to have it updated since we are taking a 1800 mile road trip to areas where snow is possible. Took them an hour to update. Never noticed an issue , but only have 4700 miles on the truck.

ANYONE KNOW IF THE SOFTWARE FOR THE 19-23 ARE AVAILABLE YET> I TOOK MY TRUCK IN TO DEALER A MONTH AGO AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS RECALL BUT ADVD THE SOFTWARE WAS NOT SUPPORTED FOR 24 AND BELOW
