Slight vibration

So have I. From what the tech said the problem is that its firing when it shouldn't and not firing when it should. Unplugging them would only solve the first problem, not the second. I'm not saying this is 100% the problem. I'm just passing along the information I've received so far.

I do think this issue is more than just the MDS. It's most likely a combination of things and this is just one layer of it.
This is probably a stupid question but what do you guys thing of unhooking the battery for a while and then back...maybe a full reset ?

worth a shot. Have you tried it yet?

Also, I just heard back from the dealer. The vibration damper replacement parts just arrived so I'll be taking it in tomorrow to get it fixed. We'll see how it goes...

Not yet...I'm not currently driving it..out of town but I may try it when I get home later in the week

Just got the truck back from the dealer. I was told that they replaced the vibration dampers, and that the tech drove the truck and verified that it's ride is better. I was pretty skeptical, but on my way back to work I drove it down a stretch of the freeway that always has issues and noticed no vibration at all. I was completely shocked. It was as smooth as butter which is a huge change from what it normally is. I'm still skeptical because I've been driving a shaking truck for months, but so far it looks like this might have fixed the issue.

I will be taking the truck into costco tomorrow to get some new michelin defenders 275/55/20 installed. I'm hoping this will further smooth out the ride as others have reported on the forum. I'll let you know if anything changes and the shake comes back

Hi Smoot178,
We understand how frustrating this may be. Please send us a private message if you decide to have your dealer look into this for you. We will gladly have a case escalated for you so a Case Specialist can work with your dealer to help find a potential solution to this.

I'm having the same issue with my 2019 1500. I noticed the shake during the test drive. Service dept balanced the tires and told me that it was flat spots on the tires. They were "100%" sure it would go away after driving a little. It's been 1k miles and the shake is still there, although slightly less that before. The only reason why its less is because when I drove it home after signing the deal I noticed the PSI was at 55 for all tires. The max rating for those Goodyear's are 51. Once I lowered the psi to 40 it was better. They did say (and in writing) they would replace tires if it didn't go away, but after reading through this thread I'm not so sure it's the tires. Very disappointed and wish I would have put the brakes on the deal when I noticed it during the test drive. Will contact dealer for new tires and if that doesn't fix, then I will pursue lemon law.

Exactly what I was told by two dealers and the exact same thing happened to me..I eventually replaced a slightly warped wheel to no avail..I will try to go the same route as elburritto above but dont doubt that I'll get pushback from my dealer..I had to file a lemon law claim as well to get anything done.

That's awesome man..I wish my dealer was willing to go that far for me..you wouldn't happen to have the part numbers would you on the parts that were replaced ?

Some of these posts sound like the torque converter, some sound like the truck is aggressively holding MDS, some sound like driveline issues.

I’m interested in knowing if this is the same problem that’s wide spread or just different problems causing similar side effects.
I am also having same vibration. this truck is a pile of junk...

Don’t take it to Walmart to get it balanced, they could never get my 09 20” wheels balanced. Had to find a shop with the latest road force balance machine
Why would anyone set foot in a Walmart repair center for anything! I wouldn't take a $200 vehicle to that chit whole

The fact they are going to pay out over 7K leads me to believe its not the wheel that's causing the issue and Ram knows or has a suspicion of what the issue is and it costs more than 7k to repair.

elburrito82, can you update us on your ride quality after a week or two? I will mention this possible fix to my service adviser next week.

I changed the OEM tires for Michelin Defenders at about 700 miles. I've been really happy with them and am eager to see a follow-up post.

I've had this issue on my 2019 1500 classic. Had into a dealer and they rebalanced the tires with no change. Brought it to another RAM dealer and they once again Road Force balanced the tires and no change. Brought back and they said all 4 tires had flat spots on them and it was a Goodyear warranty issue and they needed to be replaced. Brought it to Goodyear. They checked the tires and found nothing wrong with them but they followed RAMs recommendation and replaced the tires, balanced them and front end alignment. Still same issue. Brought it back to RAM where they once again Road Force balanced them and told me one of the brand new tires was bad and needed to be replaced. Brought it back to Goodyear and they found nothing wrong with the tire but replace it anyway as it had 100 miles on it and said they felt bad for me and it would eliminate RAMs concerns. Still same issue. Brought it to yet another RAM dealer where I was told my truck ran mint and all the others were much worse, they all have the vibration. I have a case open with RAM and they are supposed to get a rep out to look at the truck this week. Have not heard rom them yet. By the way, this last service manager said it was definately not the tires causing the issue. As of 10/1 still have heard nothing from the dealer where he was supposed get a Crysler rep out there. Been over 10 days now...these dealerships all SUCK! Not one of them will attempt to
look at anything other than the tires! As soon as I can find a Chevy or Ford lease option I can afford I will be terminating this lease!

I got the tires swapped out on last Friday which also improved the ride. Basically, with the swapping out of the tires and antivibration dampers seemed to fix all of my shaking. I know I'm a little paranoid about this so I had my wife take the truck for a drive shortly after getting the new tires. I asked her "What do you think about the ride?" and she enthusiastically responded "Huge difference! Like, night and day!" I hope it works out for you guys as well.

Good luck..my same situation word for word, just settled a lemon law case with FCA for this exact reason..I replaced the tires and one wheel I thought was suspect to no avail. I have called my local dealership to set up an appointment 4 times to be hung up on twice. Now I have to drive almost 40 miles to the next nearest dealer just to have an oil change and an obd scan..so I'm doing it all myself now..I bought my own scanner and I will be doing my own oil change this week..horrible customer service especially when you've spent upwards of 60gs ...

I pray this isn't what my future holds!! I already have a claim started with RAM before my first (after ownership) service appointment and they will be in contact with dealer throughout the process. Hopefully, RAM already has some insight into what is causing this and can relay that to my dealer.

How many miles did you have on your factory tires you took off if I may ask? thinking of doing the same thing myself. In the past I always ran Primacy tires never have tried the defenders.

It's in the quote you posted. 700 miles.

I've run the Michelin LTX M/S, LTX M/S 2, and now the 3rd generation Defender LTX M/S. They're great tires. The only Michelin LTX I can't recommend were the Premiere on my 2016 Mercedes GL 450 (poor tread life).

GUYS !!
I think I may have figured out our problem !!!
Let me first say that this is only my best guess and it isnt certain but it all adds up...hear me out.

I bought a obd scanner because my dealer wasnt willing to go further than road force balance and tire replacement, and my scanner showed a code..
(The code is pictured below) the code shows a faulty center stop lamp circuit or a faulty body control module..my center brake lamp works..so I looked up the symptoms of a faulty bcm..and lo and behold the symptoms are vibrations and shaking while being driven...I really hope this is our fix..I will be scheduling a visit to a dealer for a diagnosis but my Hope's are up..if any of you guys have a better dealer than I do and this repair is successful please let us know..
Let us pray.

I'll be at the dealer tomorrow for my shake issue. Will bring this up, along with the other possible fixes. (Michelin tires and vibration damper replacement)
