Thanks to everyone on this thread for all the parts required, procedures, tips and pictures. This was a much easier job than I expected due to all of the posts. I don't think much can be said that hasn't already been said but I did want to clarify the parts required as there were some discrepancies as I was creating my parts list. Most recently there has been a few posts for the exact parts list needed for the 23 gallon swap but not for the 26 gallon swap. So I am listing below the exact parts I used for my 26 gallon swap.

Part NumberDescriptionComments
68408875AF33 gallon fuel tank
52030458ABstrap (front strap for 33) - fuel tank
06104717AAnut flange hexNeed this for the front mounting strap
68307831AB
57008595AA
tube - vapor (for 33 gallon tank)68307831AB is for a 2019-20 3.6L V6 and 2019 5.7L (34 1/2" long). Although this fit, it was too long for my 2020 5.7L and seemed too tight.
57008595AA is for a 2020-21 5.7L (31 1/2" long). This fit perfectly for my 2020 5.7L Crew Cab.
52029908ABhose - purge
52030443ABbundle - fuel line
52029888ACcanister - vaporPossibly optional as I believe some people have reused their canister from the 26 gallon tank
52029909AChose - filter to CanisterProbably not needed, can reuse existing hose (although the 33 gallon tank hose is slightly different)
52029964ADskid plate 33 gallon (73" long)Optional - If you don't have the skid plate currently you also need a hanger (68303523AB) and bolts/nuts to mount it
68418923ACReinforce fuel strap - (for DS body)Optional - only if you do not have the 3rd hanger and want to use this for the 3rd strap

Two parts I did not need were 68312139AB (hose - vent) and 68312140AC (hose - fuel return). These were listed very early in this thread for the 26 gallon swap but are not necessary. Nobody ever clearly stated that they were actually not required although those that have swapped out the 23 for the 33 never listed these as required.

Anyone in the SE Wisconsin area that has any interest in the 26 gallon tank and skid plate? (1500 miles on the truck when removed) Includes the vapor canister, fuel line bundle, hose - filter to canister and purge hose. I do not desire to ship it to anyone due to the size so local pickup only. I also don't want to separate any parts. If interested PM me with a reasonable offer.

I have received so many inquiries about the third tank mount bracket, that the guy who fabricated mine joined the site. His member name is underwatercustoms. See post above for picture of his bracket. Please contact him with any questions or ordering information. If you see the size of this tank next to the 23 gallon, it is pretty obvious a third strap is needed. Do it right if your going to do it. Very worthwhile modification

I came up with this for the trucks that dont have the provision for the third forward stap for the 33 gallon tanks. It can be installed after the tank is in place

Thanks! @Rammit gave me your contact info. I'll contact you when my tank gets installed at the dealer. They have almost all the parts. Just one is on backorder.

Will this work on a 2018 truck

I’m looking for clarification on what I need to buy to program a 33 gallon tank from a 23 gallon. Any links to the equipment would be appreciated.

I've been reading through this thread and I see a number of people looking for the Sales Code for the dealer to add so that they can update display.
I don't know if this is it or not but hoping it is for those that need it.
If you go to the Build Ram website you can configure your vehicle and then search for one or order one. As part of the process you add the items you want. As you add them it modifies the URL with the codes for that item.

The link above is an example. If we add AHC as a code on the list of codes on the URL (as you can see below) it will add the Trailer Tow Group to the truck.

Now, if we add NFF to the end of that list it will add the 33 gallon tank.

So, I am not sure but it would seem like "NFF" is the sales code for the 33 gallon tank. Maybe someone in the "know" can validate that but I didn't see anyone provide it anywhere in this thread.

According to the link above 33 gallon is nll. Nff sales code is for 35 gallon. Maybe an engineer can confirm

@Rammo83 I'm having trouble understanding what the goal / purpose is of updating the display? Is that just updating the on board computer to show the appropriate miles to empty? Can't that just be done w/ AlphaODB or am I missing something? Thanks!

You are correct and AlfaOBD will do that for you.

Interesting. Not sure why the website uses NFF but that is a very handy PDF to have. Thanks!
I see your PDF is from 2008. I have a feeling NFF might be the correct code. When you use the web site to build a truck it auto populates the sales codes into the URL. In doing so it adds NFF and not NLL. And if you try to add NLL it ignores it. I looked up a bunch of other codes and quite a few matched to your PDF but a couple did not or weren't found at all. That PDF is very handy though. Thanks again.

Its not just the display the gas gauge will not be reading properly. To each as their. But me paying the dealership to do it I expect to have the functionality working especially for the price i paid

Roughly how much will a modification like this set you back? I'm looking into getting my 23 gal swapped to a 33. Hope it's not too crazy.

Parts maybe 400-500. Stuff to change your fuel compacity in your computer maybe 120.

Where did you order your parts through? I used store.mopar.com and had everything delivered to the dealer for free shipping. You beat me by a small amount on each item so I'm curious if you paid it in shipping or if you had a better parts source.

23 gallon to 33 gallon swap. Mine is being done by my local dealer next week. 2 year warranty on parts and labor. They gave me a 20% discount on parts. Decided to go threw them in case any issues arise it's on them to fix it. It would have been cheaper if I didn't have a rebel (Longer skid plate was expensive!).

1. 68408875AF - 33 gallon fuel tank - $224.00
2. 68409160AE - fuel pump - $140.00
3. 52029888AC - vapor canister (EVAP) - $152.00
4. 52029909AC - hose filter - $16.20
5. 52029908AB - hose purge - $45.96
6. 68307831AB - vapor tube - $24.48
7. 52030443AB - fuel line bundle - $60.16
8. 04721916AA - lock ring for fuel pump - $11.60
9. 52029964AD – 33 gallon skid plate - $331.20

Total Parts: $1,046.06 (without skid plate $714.86)

33 gallon ECU flash - $130
