This is kind of a bummer but thought I would put it out there just in case someone else runs into this.

By no means is this a truck bashing post. I love my truck and everything about it. Would I buy it again? In a heartbeat. I knew prior to buying it that, like any first edition, there was a potential for issues and the 2019 owners are more or less participants in a mass trial.

Anywho, a week ago the check engine light came on at 5600ish miles. I did all of the normal immediate things like check my fluids and made sure everything looked ok. I called my local service department and he told me as long as the engine light is not flashing, drive it for another 80-100 miles and see if it goes away. I was a little hesitant but I figure, hey its under warranty so if something bad happens, it's on their dime. If the light start flashing, stop immediately and tow the vehicle to the dealer.

Drove for about 80 miles and made an appointment when the light didn't go away. They ran for error codes and thought it was an oxygen sensor. This didn't fix it. They tried another component of which I can't remember. No fix. They determined after talking with headquarters that a new wiring harness is needed. They need to special order it and then keep the truck for 2 weeks, separate the body from the chassis and replace it.

I will be posting an update to this once I have the repairs completed.

What was the fault code? Curious as to why a harness was ordered. We usually only replace them if damaged.

I think everyone should invest in a odbii reader. They are like $15. Read your own codes. Always best to go into the dealer having some knowledge of what's going on. At least what code it's throwing. Didn't the paperwork list the diagnostic code?

I’ll get the code off the paperwork when I get back in town. I never really looked in depth for the code.

Not sure what the code was but honestly it sounds kind of like a Hail Mary in trying to fix the issue. They mentioned there were only 37 other trucks in the country with this issue but whether I believe this or not doesn’t really matter. As long as it’s fixed in the long run.

Keep me posted, will be useful to know in case I get one in the shop with the same issue.

Dealership finally has the new wiring harness so the truck goes in tomorrow. They don't have an ETA on completion because as they said, "It's kind of a new thing for us..." I will update again when I actually have the completed work order. At least they are giving me a brand new Jeep Wrangler loaner vehicle. I guess that's something.

First they replaced the O2 sensor and gave me the truck back about a month ago. Didn’t fix the issue so they replaced the wiring harness.
