Removing AGS and Active Air Dam

I ended up going with the Edge Pulsar (inline tuner). I can say that it does not have a feature to change your fan settings but when set on the Tow and Performance the fan comes on earlier than stock. I haven’t tried economy. This works well with the 180 thermostat and removing all but 3 of AGS shutters. The highest temp sitting at a red light or in a drive through with 88 degree WX and no wind was 185. We have a heat advisory for a 112 index today through Monday so that’ll be a good test. Also running 5w-30 full synthetic and loving it.

Everyone could have said the Pulsar doesn't have an option to adjust the fans. Other than using it to adjust for different tire sizes, there's really nothing adjustable with it.

Hello all! Just wanted to give my experience with the new 1500 AGS and active air dam system.

As some of you already know, the 4th gen 1500's also have AGS. If you want to delete the AGS and don't want to have a CEL staring you in the face, you need to have a delete kit. Well, if you own a 5th gen 1500, I'm happy to report that you do NOT need a delete kit. I removed mine and instantly noticed that the motor controlling the shutters is very much different. Not only does it look different, it operates differently. Just simply pull out the motor and zip tie it to the frame... boom. Done. No CEL.

Additionally, I removed my lower bumper molding and active air dam system (not just the dam, but the whole entire system). Doing so will NOT cause a CEL to show up on the dash. I've been running my truck like this for 1k miles, no issues.

Unfortunately, I didn't take pics of these mods, but I would be more than happy to walk anyone through the process.
I have 19 Laramie 1500. I actually did this before I saw your post. It has not gotten rid of my code. I’ve even pulled the fuse, respliced a new pigtail connector to the actuator(mine was corroded)and unplugged the air dam. Code stays. I can’t figure this out. Any help??

I have a similar issue.... AAD has been off since I got the truck, and I didn't have any codes. Took the truck to dealer, they reflashed PCM for some reason, and now I have all the AGS codes. 21 ED Big Horn. AlfaOBD already has it coded to off, but no change. I've got P05AE, U0284 and U0285.

Clear codes, see if it comes back. Make sure connector is dry.

So I have removed and repaired a solder connection on the signal wire from the actuator. Replaced the grill actuator with new and wired the AAD motor back in and no change. The new actuator had 4 pins which was weird... I guess I'm looking at repinning those three wires all the way to the ECU, next.

And yes, cleared the codes, but two of them are hard faults(284 and 285)
