Rear window surround crack.

Thanks. I was hoping this was isolated to the crews. I'll keep an eye on my window.

Gotcha, do you remember which booklet you saw that, I'm curious to know.
Mopar site for warranty on page 6.
F. When It Ends The Basic Limited Warranty lasts for 36 months from the date it begins or for 36,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first. But the following items are covered only for 12 months or for 12,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first: • Brakes (rotors, pads, linings, and drums); • Wiper Blades; • Clutch Discs or Modular Clutch Assembly (as equipped); • Windshield and Rear Window; and • Wheel Alignment and Wheel Balancing.

I would read that as window glass not the frame.

Just saw this comment on a YouTube video. Can anyone confirm if the replacement windows are slightly different than the original windows (or if the 2019 windows are indeed different than the 2020 windows)?

I have close to 14k on mine and it was covered. I assume because the frame was cracked but, interestingly the work order had no mention of the cracked frame, only that the window leaked.

I finally took a good look at it today. There is something different about it, although I can't put my finger on it. Hopefully it is a revision due to the crack/leak issues.

Thanks for posting, I double checked with my service adviser, the glass is covered like a wear item, even though it's in the rear, similar to the windshield. However, as others have mentioned, the frame is covered by the 3 year warranty, but also any leaks, even if the frame wasn't the cause of the leak, such as the gasket/sealant between the glass and frame.

I don't recall if my 2019 original window frame had a taper to it or not, I don't think it did, but not certain. The new replacement definitely does.

Mine is getting replaced this week...
Got a Call Yesterday..They are waiting on a Screw to arrive from Memphis.

I told My Service Advisor,,,And RAM Cares,,,That I did not want tint film on a clear glass,That I wanted them to order the correct SMOKED GLASS window..

Just checked mine and I have 1 crack in the frame, December 2018 build. I don't have any leaks. In a way I'd rather the truck get swallowed by the ocean than deal with any of the service departments in my area.

I have a Sept 2018 Build - I had a very good experience with the repair, as the dealer contracted a glass specialist to come on site and perform.

After following the issue at length, my theory is an assembly line machine (or FCA workers) over torquing something during the glass installation at the factory. I trust the expertise of the glass specialist who replaced mine over the OEM installation. Should it fail again, a bad rear glass design is the likely cause.

Would love to see comparison pics of 2019-2020 rear glass, and to know if any 2020's have had a failure yet.

Here's an ebay listing for a used 2019 rear slider. You can clearly see 2 cracks, 1 on each side. Also, it appears the frame goes underneath the black seal/caulk. This would explain the leak associated with the crack. If the crack goes completely under the seal, that would indicate that the crack is exposed to the outside elements. Water could find the crack, follow it, and bypass the black seal.

yes if you look they crack right at the tabs. if you take your 3rd brake light out and look at the top of the window you can see there are 2 metal tabs right above the those plastic channels. i bet with the body flexing and the freeze thaw weather it breaking that plastic frame.

I was responding to this post...See at the top where the slider top section tapers while going away from the center of the glass. I had my 2019 build glass replaced and am not certain the original glass had/has this taper or is just straight across. According to below (take it for what its worth, a youtube post), if reads as if FCA changed it to the taper.

Someone mentioned a post on youtube that said the new replacement windows have a taper to the

Just looked at my replacement window and if you look at the top of the slider from the inside, you can see the window manufacture date printed in yellow ink. My replacement window has a date of January 2019, so we’ll see if it holds out.
