To those that have had the rear window replaced , does it appear or do you know if the frame has been changed to avoid the cracks ?
It is a complete assembly...look further up in this thread for the "backlite". There are various part numbers, depending on model and trim package...from my own experience I saw water intrusion along the cracks...see various pictures in this threadTo those that have had the rear window replaced , does it appear or do you know if the frame has been changed to avoid the cracks ?
Well it's official my July 2018 build date Limited has a rear window trim crack and water leak so it's time to let the dealer do their own water test and see what they say they're offering to do about it. I wasn't even aware so many folks were experiencing this until I read about it here. I know there's some that claim the leak has nothing to do with the crack which I can actually see the logic in but in my truck the water is definitely exiting right where the crack is located which might just be the path of least resistance but both the crack and the leak are totally unacceptable for so many very new trucks to be experiencing. Might have to rethink the RAM ownership idea!
That’s utter BS. The dealership is responsible to take care of it 100% then go after the glass company. You didn’t get a choice of who would do the glass work. The dealer chose them and it’s on them. They are almost like a general contractor in this instance. Don’t accept no as an answer.Love how they have to use these third party glass companies. I just had the headliner replaced and they used the third party bunch to pull the windshield. The glass shop destroyed my windshield tint.
Dealer and Ram customer service both say it's not their responsibility, the glass company did it. Yeah, a glass company the dealer picked and I even told them that company has a bad reputation around here. Now I'm waiting on the back glass to come it so the same company can destroy something else back there.
They replaced my headliner too. I told them to not touch the windshield. When they replaced the rear window they took the headliner out through the rear. They did reimburse me for my Ceramic tint on my rear window too.Love how they have to use these third party glass companies. Mine has been replaced but the original one wasn’t cracked and this one hasn’t cracked either. Mine was replaced in like June of 19.For those that have had their window replaced with a new one, has your new one cracked? Curious if they are slapping in the same part or installing an updated one.
What dealer do you use?All the stars must be in alignment, my replacement rear window arrived. Scheduled replacement for next Tuesday, I’ll let ya all know how it goes
Good call, I forgot that I have tinted the glass. Will have to inquire about that. They replaced my headliner too. I told them to not touch the windshield. Definitely had them reimburse me for re-tinting my rear windowGood call, I forgot that I have tinted the glass. Will have to inquire about that.
Mine is at the dealer today for the same issue. They told me there are two others with the same problem being looked at. Depending on what they say, I am tempted to have a non slider installed, if they'd be willing to do so.
thats what im thinking to. this way i know i wont ever have a leak.Mine is at the dealer today for the same issue. They told me there are two others with the same problem being looked at. Depending on what they say, I am tempted to have a non slider installed, if they'd be willing to do so.
FWIW...My replacement came in today when I dropped it off and got the loner, spoke to another service writer there and they have had 3 others plus me with this issue and all were 2019's. They are bringing it to an off site location that does all their glasswork and has done the other 3 already, so I'm glad they at least have some experiences prior to mine.
