You are Selling it to the Dealer, Someone has to pay the Sales Tax!

Malodave
When I lived in states with sales tax, you paid your sales tax when you registered the vehicle. Since the dealer isn't registering the vehicle the sales tax would be paid by the person that buys the used car from the dealer when they register it in their state.

Does the dealer pay a sales tax when they buy the new vehicle from the factory? I'm pretty sure they don't, right?

I saw a Ram 1500 Limited tv ad for up to $8671 off MSRP plus an additional $1000 off for pickup conquest. I assume the latter is for those coming from a competitor pickup. Maybe the Ram incentive ice is beginning to thaw?

see if you can open these
@EGP wow. I don't get the numbers bug wow!
$69005 MSRP and your paperwork shows $58,170 price; so discount is $10,835. Is this the value of a trade-in?
Then you got another $2741 discount. What was this?
Then you got the $2500 in rebates.

Is that first $10,835 isn't from a trade-in you did very well. Enjoy the new truck! - Paul G.

In Nevada we pay no sales tax on Private Party sales from any state, it's hard to find any of these 5th gen Rams for sale by owner anywhere. Would save me 8.3% NV sales tax if I could.

Have them eat the doubled $1695 freight ( it's aready in the original MSRP) and that a pretty solid deal.

I'm going to say it's a good deal for a 2021.

Adding back the freight is the latest scam by the dealers to eke out as much profit as possible. They are all doing it here in Virginia. The dealers claim that they have to pay the freight to the manufacturer and thus MUST charge it back to the buyer. At the end of the day, you really have to factor in the additional freight charge to the negotiated price. So, when I do that, it means that I'm really paying $58,460 for the $71,405 truck.

That then amounts to an 18.13% discount from MSRP. From what I've been seeing, it does seem like it's a good deal for a 2021 model, as another dealer I was negotiating with said they couldn't come within $2K of that price on a 2021 model. That makes me feel like I'm getting a really good deal on the truck.

I've literally contacted over 10 dealerships, trying to get a remotely good deal.
It's impossible down here in South Florida.

Lakeland was the complete opposite of that. Extremely straight forward and easy to deal with.
They give you 7% off invoice, which was roughly 15ish % off MSRP on my build -
That's before rebates and incentives on delivery.

Entire deal was done over email, and extremely straight forward. No surprises.

If Lakeland Florida is too far for you. There's also Koons in VA, or Criswell in Maryland that do 6% off invoice.

In my opinion, if you're going to order a truck they're the only three true options unless you can get a local dealer to match them.
Which most won't, because lets face it - most are low volume, that would rather rip someone off that walks off of the street on the truck.
Was that 15% off a 2020 or 2021? What model since Ive noticed the lower trim models seem to have a higher % discount. I looked and they don't have what I want at the moment, but I have a 19 limited loaded 2WD and will probably upgrade to 4WD when the right deal can be found.

The same thing happened to me in Canada as well. Discount based off of MSRP which includes freight, but freight added in after the fact. I ended up at 24% off from Peel Chrysler + tax vs 27% that I was expecting. Oh well, something to look for next time, however I plan on keeping this truck for a long while. No other dealer was able to come close (5k different). I will be picking it up Thursday

You are getting a good deal, but don't not push a little on that just because. I drove to DC from NC (Dulles Ram) because inventory and pricing was better. They state that they add the 1695 back to all deals and my salesman said " since everyone in the area does, so do we"...but only after they forgot to add it to my deal sheet and I showed up with cashier's check in hand. They ate that fee with 0 fuss. Worth a try.

That's nearly identical to the truck I'm working a deal on. So far I'm at $69,009 - Trade OTD. I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Wish I could work that.
Where's that at?

2021 -
Ram Limited 4WD

That 15% is pre incentives and rebates.
But as you mentioned the lower trims have the better rebates/incentives.
So I'll probably get into the 17-18%

Looking at 9% off on an ordered laramie loaded. Will update here with final numbers about to go sit with finance. My out the door price is about the same as MSRP. Numbers aren't right infront of me.

From what everyone else says this seems horrible....

Hello- First post here. Hope it to be many in the future. I have wanted a Ram for 10 years and am finally pulling the trigger. While the Black Friday sales on the 1500's are attractive I am in the market for a 2500. I am in the Northeast and its slim pickings and plow season is approaching as well. Unfortunately, there are little incentives due to supply/demand issues so I will be negotiating purely on MSRP.

For a 2500 what % off MSRP should I be negotiating for?
