Price negotiated from MSRP

Looking for some input on a possible 2025 Laramie purchase. MSRP is at $70,405, consumer cash and truck month $6,500 off, dealer discount was initially around $8,900, additional charges for some coatings put the truck to around $56k. I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 with 83k miles on it they offered me $22,750. After some negotiating, they told me they'd get me out the door for $33.5k after trade in. They offered $32k if I signed right there, but needed to talk through everything with the wife tonight.... Am I crazy that there's on way I could do better than this? The only thing it's really missing is a bed liner.
Very similar msrp to a truck I recently purchased (70,750 for mine) I was getting down to around 61-62 pre incentives ended at 53k after all incentives applied, get rid of the 2k in coatings and your in the same area.

DFW metroplex, plenty of options to work through.
walk away, cross the east state line, and go to Mark Dodge in Lake Charles.
no bs, no add-ons, great customer services.

and if you go, shake Aaron and Anthony's hands for me even though it's 2 years too late lol

No reason to put yourself through this when I'm pretty sure Mark Dodge will deliver as far as Houston. Or have it shipped. You might find a comparable deal around you, but what is your time worth?

That sounds like somewhere north of 2K for "coatings" paint protection blah blah. Thats just extra dealer profit. Theres probably a $600-900 doc fee in there as well.

In the past I've paid $1,600 for door edge, tint and stuff like that because the dealer discount was higher than anywhere else. You don't like paying for markups but get that issue out of your head, it's the net out the door cost that matters. I don't care if the truck is $1 and there's $55K in markups, it's the net cost vs what another dealer(s) offer you.
You have a trade and they play games with that value as well.

If you are open to traveling, then get quotes from regional big dealers. Several big names are listed in this thread.
You have a valid point, but I'd rather not give my business to those who take advantage of the grandparent or 20 something buying their first new vehicle. I personally prefer the business model that everyone gets the same deal, regardless of their wits. This is largely a matter of opinion and preference, I know.

Carmax dealers are the one price no negotiation place yet their prices seem high on everything. I agree that the 20 something shouldnt get screwed on their first new car. I had my son use a car buying service to help him out as dear old dad isn’t much of a negotiator.

For example, in 1982 I paid $1K over msrp to get the one Jeep Grand Wagoneer out of fifty on the lot that had a 4 speed. They where probably doing backflips when they sold that one! 😮🤔🤣

Well after working with 5 dealers (including Mark Dodge) over the last few days, the dealer that originally tried to screw me came out the winner. $70.4k MSRP, $53.4k after dealer discounts and savings, trade in up to $24.8k, out the door at $30.9k. I don’t love the game dealers play but I did take a lot of pleasure watching them get frustrated as I told them the # they had to beat or I walked, felt like a win. Happy to join the Ram family, nicest truck I’ve ever owned.
