BDS, your example is why I didn't mind staying more local and paying more.
I got the truck she wanted (it was for her anyway, how many wives want 1500's) and "holding the nose" or whatever it's called is just fine when you (she) smiles every time you (she) is in it.
Low price is all fine but there's a saying about the price being forgotten long before the truck is...
No you are correct. The thing for me is they had nothing local that matched what I wanted so if I really wanted it I didn't have many options. But my wife was sitting right there and after some haggling she leaned over and whispered to me.. just go ahead and get it ;)

Well I finally did it! Picked up my truck last week from Lakeland Ram - awesome experience!! I live in Charlotte, NC and it was worth it for me to buy from them! If you are looking, consider them!!
Congrats! When I contacted Lakeland, I got a horrible experience. (They added $1,500 in dealer add-on fees (and mis-quoted my tax: had me paying $3,500 instead of $1,750). ) To their benefit, they quoted Employee Pricing to me (without telling me that). That was it: Employee Pricing, +1,500 in profit fees, +1,750 in "bad" tax math. No movement on that or discussion of my rebates or incentives.

Glad you had a good experience. I would've liked to have done business with them. Phillip Olson in Seattle (MUCH further away from me) earned my business instead.

Congrats! Was it a factory order or one on the lot? What kind of deal did you end up with?

Ok so I wanted the Rebel and I wanted the technology package. Based on current rebates I was going to wait until May and check back on the rebates kind of thing, but after doing some online searching I found the Rebel I wanted - with the color I wanted - Hydro Blue two tone with the black at the bottom. The truck I was building was coming out at an MSRP of 61k, but it looks like at some point last week you can no longer order the technology package on the rebel I guess due to this chip shortage. So the one I found had more stuff than I was going to order and had an MSRP of $66,845. Ourisman Dodge in Baltimore, MD had a crazy low advertised prize which I knew I would not get but that was the only truck that fit what I wanted within 500 miles. Anyway Saturday morning I messaged them and started talking to them. I am in SC so that is an 8 hour and 15 min drive for me with no stops. I talked about my trade which was a 2008 Ram 1500 with 265k miles on it and a dented rear bumper from backing in to a set of disc harrows one time. I told them to work me up a price. In 15 mins they came back and told me that my out the door price with the trade was 48,700 and that included 8k for my trade-in.

Ok so I know that trade in value was way high and I was fully expecting if I did the deal and drove up there it was going to get lowered once they did a final appraisal on it. It was like 11am Saturday at this point and they close at 7pm. Anyway, they wanted to know if I wanted to make the drive right then and I was like look the drive is gonna get me there after you close plus I need two stops - 1 for food and 1 for gas so I won't get there before 8pm. They confirmed they would wait and hold the truck for me so me and my wife flew out the door and hit the road.

Driving through the DC area was horrible but finally made it in to Baltimore at 8:10pm. Sit down at the desk, they take my keys to check out my trade in, I get my insurance on the phone to add the new vehicle and then they come back and the lady that I have been talking with all along looks a little flustered. At this point the entire dealership knows I just drove over 8 hours to get here as well. So she tells us she apparently mis-heard me when I said 265k miles and she wrote down 65k miles which is why they came back with an 8k trade in. Well I told her well thats fine, I already told my wife that we were not going to get anywhere near 8k on this trade once we got here to expect that. Then they come back with a trade in value of 2k. At that point I was ticked man. Look I do think the lady made an honest mistake and wrote down the wrong number and probably her or the GM who came up with the 8k trade in value maybe should have been a little surprised at how low those miles sounded for a vehicle that was 13 years old man. Perhaps they should have asked for a picture. Anyway it was a shock to me because I knew it was going to go down, but I figured I would get at least 4k for it.

I told them I just drove 8 hours to get here and this puts a bad feeling in my stomach. I know I can sell that truck all day long for 5k easy and here I drive all the way up there in good faith and you tell me 2k on the trade. I said you gotta do better on your dealer discount or something man. The GM would not budge and told me look I got no more skin in the game, since you are from SC I will never see you again then he pulled out the invoice and gave me the old we are selling it at a loss story and he just can't go any lower. So I hemmed and hawed for awhile and everyone was getting aggravated because they closed at 7pm and now its about 9:30 and I still haven't said yes I will take it.

When it comes down to it, they were 2k off of what I would have been content with and they were not budging or willing to make any more concessions even after I drove that far up there. I finally held my nose and did the deal. The truck was exactly what I wanted and then some and I really didn't want to drive 2 trucks home. Also, it was probably the only truck within 500 miles that matched everything I wanted in my truck down to the color scheme.

In the end this how the numbers came out:

MSRP: $66,845
Dealer Discount was $8,451
Dealer added processing fee $500
Additional Rebates: $3000

Price before trade in, tax, title registration was $55,894

So I just ordered a Bighorn Crew, I already have tread lightly from purchasing my wife’s Jeep. What is the time frame for getting a mailer or other extra rebates?

I’m in Columbia, SC. My last 3 trucks were purchased out of state. I seem to save thousands out of state. These dealerships around me just won’t negotiate. I ordered my 2021 down in LA at Mark Dodge. I’m not sure if I’ll make that trip though, thinking about shipping

Yea I looked at that too and contemplated that and then I realized it was at least a 12 hour drive. I think my 8 hour trip was long enough!

I’m looking forward to the fly & drive. It’s not for everyone though. If having it shipped to NH was sub-$500, I’d do it but anything more, I’ll just use some airline miles and enjoy the drive home with a quick stop on the Bourbon trail and maybe some BBQ in Nasheville.

I spent considerable time down there at Jackson. I do wonder if the base has anything to do with the lack of negotiations because every dealership is making money hand-over-fist from the new privates. Seemed like half the people I went through basic with, immediately bought a Mustang or a Charger. And we're talking fully loaded rides. I'm guessing $60k+ machines. If you have a car lot around and American military base (especially one with recruits going through it or that houses some kind of technical school) you are good to go.

You aren't kidding, especially if they happened to get an enlistment bonus.

My story:
Wanted a "Built To Serve" edition Ram for about a year, but when I was finally able to get into a financial situation to facilitate it, my choices were existing dealer stock in either Tank (olive green) or Flame Red, or order one in Orange or White (neither of which my wife and I wanted). So I emailed all the dealers within driving range (each email separate so there wouldn't be any "reply all" issues) telling them I will buy from whoever gives me the best out-the-door value for what I wanted with the 0% APR. The dealer responses ran the range you'd expect. Some wanted to know my payment budget, others wanted to know if I was doing a trade-in. Others told me I'd be missing out on $1,250 in incentives by going with 0% (I can do math; 0% is far better). I stood by my guns, insisting on email negotiation and to talk price (not monthly payment), and to not factor trade-in. One dealer (outside my state) was going to charge me double-digit sales tax, and even gave me a monthly payment breakdown that, when totaled, far exceeded the quoted price ($950/month for 72 months, for instance; truck MSRP was $55K).

To make a long story a bit shorter, all the BTS options kept getting sold before my dealer could get it transferred. So I went to look at a used Rebel. It was not a great color, plus it was 3 years old with nearly 70K on the odometer. The bed made it look like the surface of the moon (no bedliner). The dealer quoted me nearly $40K for it. At this point, I was bummed. No BTS truck, plus the available truck at the time was a put-to-bed-wet Rebel. I told the sales rep my wife and I were going to walk the lot and think about it.

My wife saw a Laramie that she like the color, then looked at the sticker--over $61K and more than we wanted to pay. We sat in it and it was a great truck. I told the sales rep, if he could get the price to $55 we could do it. Then it was just a matter of time.

In the end, I think it's a win for both me and the dealer. I got a great truck (with far more bells and whistles than I originally wanted) and saved a significant amount of money (10% off MSRP) with very little effort, stress, or playing games. The dealer probably made more than they could have had I decided to negotiate more aggressively. Plus the dealer is local to me (semi-rural area so supporting businesses here is important). Win all around.

Gents,

Is anyone aware of the current incentives for Rebels? I ordered a Rebel back in January that should arrive any day now. When I search for the current incentives, it seems like most apply to the Big Horn edition... Interested in hearing what you guys are getting before I close the deal. Thanks!

Enter your zip up top then I’ll show current incentives for your region. Click 1500 and show all offers then select rebel trim. For me it’s showing the 0% apr for 72 months or $1500 cash allowance

Same as @PurpleRT it’s showing $1500 cash allowance OR (not and) 0% APR for 72 months with $500 cash allowance in my neck of the woods.

Rebels typically don’t see the large cash allowance deals like the a Big Horns get. Rebels are typically more in line with the Laramies and Limiteds as far as cash allowance deals go from Ram.
