Price negotiated from MSRP

New user here, looking for advice:

MSRP: 54500
Dealer Discount: 8000 including a 1000 dealer trade in allowance
With 0%/84 mo. financing.
Plus taxes, fees, etc.

This is for a Laramie crew cab, level 1.
Looks like the dealer discount is almost 15% off MSRP.

A good dealer, or keep waiting?

That’s a solid dealer discount. You should weigh the benefit of the 0% for 84mo vs the additional rebates if you take normal financing. In my area, Laramie Rebates could be an additional $5-6k on top of the $8k dealer discount you’re being offered.

I am also lurking on my local dealership in PA, but holding out for better deals/everything is closed now. the 0% for 84 is killer, but hoping the dealer with either discount it more than already doing OR Ram does 0 for 84 WITH incentives once this is over. What I am looking at on their lot is:

-Laramie maximum steel
-Hemi MDS
-Level 1 group
-bed utility package
-sport appearance package
-multi-function tailgate
-Uconnect $c with Nav
-Rear wheelhouse liners

MSRP 57510
Current dealer discount is 4500 plus 5k in incentives

I want that deal with discounts and incentives AND 0%. That's what I am holding out for.

remember to check that Bonus Drive rebate. Google it or go onto the new members threads, usually Patsy 1099 has posted the info and link.
I did see that and need to look into it. Thanks for the reminder!
That includes tax?
Yes, OTD=out the door...tax, title, license, dealer fees, etc.

I purchased Monday, the last vehicle sold before they shut down sales. 2020 Limited EcoDiesel. MSRP $72,020 price after discount and rebates.... $56,050

It's not the 25% others have talked about before, but it's not far off. Overall, very pleased and have a new relationship with my local dealer and I am now a first time Ram owner :)

Really appreciate everyone posting their experiences; your info allowed me to be much more informed during my search for a new truck.

I've been lurking for a while and watching prices; finally decided to pull the trigger. Interestingly enough, it's very similar to the deal above for a 2020 Limited with the Black Appearance Package and some other options:

MSRP: $71,215
Before Rebate Price: $60,533 (15% off of MSRP)
Rebates Applied: $4500 - National Rebates; $1000 - USAA
Final Price: $55,033 (22.7% off of MSRP)

For what it's worth, I was talking to three dealerships with similar trucks/options and without working too hard, they were all coming in around 20-22% off of MSRP.

Good luck to those that are looking for a new truck.

Nice deal. Which part of the country?

Dealers here in MD were just told that they are essential and are opening back up for sales and service. That makes sense why they are all texting and calling me again. They are still playing hard ball saying that prices aren't going to get better and it wont be anything like previously where there were massive deals because of what was said on here, the inventory. I just flat out told them that I was willing to take the risk of seeing what was going to happen.
I wouldn't expect dealers to say anything different either. The nation could be locked down and they'd still claim there's tons of interest on their vehicles, these deals won't last long, and the prices won't get any better, etc. I would definitely hold out a little bit longer.

Thanks; this is in Maryland. Will share dealer info once I sign paperwork later this morning and can say whether or not I recommend them. So far it’s been fine.

Looking at pulling the trigger on a diesel Rebel with an msrp of $65385. Cant get the dealer to budge off $54070 before title. He is also saying that they have inside info that some of the rebates will go away April 1. Don't know if I quite believe that at this point. Any thoughts on this?

Well with the problems in the economy, if FCA dropped rebates then how the heck will they sell anything? I'd guess that's bs to get you to buy now. Check around and see if that appears to be a good price. Is that before TTL? What equipment?
My local dealer only has 5 2020's and none MSRP above 62, with the lower MSRP's in the mid- 50's and priced at about $43K. (Basic white 4x4 quad level 1 diesel).

54k before or after rebates? Or are you giving up rebates for 84 month 0%? If that is the price after rebates and you are not getting 0%, that price is a slap in the face.

I don’t think they get any visibility to upcoming promos, good or bad.

I’m personally on the fence for whether I believe deals will improve. FCA has closed production, so they aren’t replenishing stock at the moment. That said, I don’t know how much demand actually exists right now. Still even with low sales volume, no replenishment of stock could be a recipe for reduction in rebates. I’m curious to see how it plays out.

I’m still reading people at 25% discount in some cases, but a Diesel Rebel certainly won’t be on the high end of available discount percentage.

Of course the F rebates are going away in April, they’re only good until 3/31. Rebates change monthly. He’s just blowing smoke, he does not know what ram is going to do with incentives until it happens. I’d call BS on anything they say in terms of future sales. PLUS, you saw how GM dropped the 0% for 84 months and ram was like OH SNAP now we gotta do that too and fired it up randomly in the middle of the month. If the competition offers something better, the other two will step it up

the only thing they might know is if ram has said they will stop incentives on the 2019s after this month. Which doesn’t apply to anyone looking at 2020s.

never forget these people are always trying to close you at any cost and don’t care about you.

Thanks for the quick responses! Its after rebates. Its a pretty fully optioned Rebel at 65k msrp. Not financing thru FCA so .. I am concerned with an upcoming lack of product in the pipeline though.
Hate dealing with these guys! Hands are dirty even before COVID! Don't want to touch anything when you drive away.

So true... Diesel Rebel would be about the highest consumer (specialty trim) demand, like gas Rebels were a year ago... that has to be in the mix as well.

I think you guys are putting way too much thought into this. They NEED sales. They make money on operations, stopping The manufacturing Of trucks is not saving them money or building up any “2020 trucks are collector items” scenarios.

I guess we will all see come April, eh?

If I’m selling a product that I can’t replenish, I’m not selling it for minimal profit. I’m going to try maximize profit of my last remaining stock. They NEED sales, yes, but they don’t NEED to give them away. They’re already well short of monthly quota this month. There’s no need to take hits when the FCA quota kickbacks aren’t achievable.

JMO of course. Curious to see what April brings.

I’m also of the opinion the deals this month are already pretty solid. I was able to match discounts from last year June timeframe, which apparently was some of the best pricing anyone had seen.

Via Reuters:

Auto retail sales through the week of March 22 declined 22% nationwide on a yearly basis and as much as 40% in some cities on the U.S. West Coast, according to an analysis by research firm J.D. Power, based on data from dealership stores around the country.

Last week’s data did not yet fully account for various U.S. states passing shelter-in-place orders at the end of last week.

“We expect to see a much broader and wider impact from these restrictions next week with sales declining 80% or more,” said Tyson Jominy, the firm’s vice president of data and analytics.

I agree, if I had a product in minimal supply I wouldn't sell it for less either. However, if no one was buying my product like they had before, I would certainly sell them for less then so I could have some money to survive.

Add me to the list that will be watching prices over the next few months, I was planning on keeping my current truck until I could pick up a lightly used 21 (for uconnect 5 mostly) in a year or two, but if I can get what I consider a deal I couldn't refuse, I'll "settle" for a 19 or 20. That being said most people I mention this to think I'm crazy, which only reassures me that not many people will be car shopping anytime soon.

Time will tell, either way it will be interesting to see what happens. Great place to be in as a consumer looking to buy, but not needing to at all. It won't hurt my feelings if it doesn't happen as I love my current truck and will be happy to drive it a little while longer.
