Performance Pages on 2022 Limited 12 inch UC5

Got around to taking apart the telematics box/module I bought used on eBay...it came out of a 2022 RAM 1500 Bighorn. Lots of clips around the perimeter and somewhat of a pain to open up. The two main components of interest were the cell modem and the cellular antenna. The cell modem is a Sierra Wireless 4G LTE...part # AR7582...and the antenna is a ethertronics 4G LTE...part # P822601. I was hoping to find an easily removable antenna...that is not the case...it is flush mounted on the circuit board...and looking a the spec sheet on the ethertronics web page it has 7 connection points to a circuit board...and all 7 are on the bottom side of the antenna, flush against a circuit board. The resistive load on the spec sheet said 50 ohms. Had there been only 2 solder connection points a 50 ohm resistor across those 2 points might have been enough to fool the cellular modem into thinking there was no problem with electrical connectivity.
Encasing/covering/wrapping the cellular antenna in a RF shield looks doable...not a lot of electronic components in close proximity to the antenna to risk shorting something out. Not sure if that would sufficiently block any RF communications. FYI the TBM2 (telematics box module #2) is about 7"x3.5"x0.75"
Looks like I was limited to 10 pictures per replay...here are the others:
There is no SIM card that I could see...it looks to be a cell modem on a chip.

How did you determine that you were still being spied on via the fuel tank level value?
There is an Ram app on the Android Playstore.
I tested prior and every time I turn my truck off (gas not electric) it updates in the app in a few moments.
Every few settings I did I tested and confirmed it still updated.

Ironically changing connected services from yes to no doesn't disable it (shocking [ironic])

I think getting to the box is likely good enough to disable it just by using bypass cables for the GPS or anything else you want to pass through.

Did you open what appears to be a cover on the modem? It's possible it's a slotable Sierra. It should lift right up if so from the edges, might need to use a metal toothpick to get under it

I did not notice any SIM slots...didn't think about lifting up the cover of the cell modem chip...I'll take a look tomorrow.

Hope you crack the telematic tattle tailing/snooping. Looking forward to hearing about your glove box(s) removal attempt and TBM cable bypassing. I only have about 10K miles on my truck and it's still under warranty...with an extended warranty on top of that...so I'm kinda worried about warranty claims...or possibly a dealer service tech hooking up their diagnostic equipment and discovering a modified, bypassed or removed TBM box.

Regarding the Performance Pages disappearing...I use to loose mine after exactly 24 hrs...I was stubborn and I would reactivate them immediately after loosing them for 4 days in a row...starting on the 5th day...they remained on my 12" Uconnect 5 radio/screen for 4 days straight...and functioned properly...lost them yesterday...and added them again this morning. So not sure if RAM Connect was down for a few days and didn't get a chance to zap my radio/screen...or maybe they saw I was not giving up about getting and keeping functional Performance pages.

Whats the trick you use to get them back?
A factory reset?

Whats the trick you use to get them back?
A factory reset?
All of the parameter changes are still there...12 changes if I remember correctly...I get a Performance Page, a Drive Mode page, a Race Option page, and a Off Road page. I only have to issue 2 more AlfaOBD commands to get all the pages back and functioning after I loose them...I have to issue a VehConfig 1: Vehicle Line: LD-Charger then wait about 5 mins...my dash and Uconnect 5 screen lights up with a few error message, then get out of AlfaOBD. After the 5 mins then I go to the Vehicle page option at the bottom of the Uconnect 5 screen...and scroll down to the bottom and look for the Reset option...I click on Factory Reset of the Uconnect 5 screen...then wait a few mins...this appears to enable the Uconnect 5 screen to allow the adding of new Apps (the 4 Performance pages mentioned above). Then it is time to issue the final AlfaOBD command...to tell the truck it is once again a RAM 1500 and not a Charger. Issue another parameter change, VehConfig 1: Vehicle Line: DT RAM 1500. Then get out of AlfaOBD and wait another 5 mins or so. For me the first of the 4 Performance pages to appear in the Apps list is Off Road, then a little while later the Performance Page, the Drive Mode page and Race Option page all start appearing in the Apps list. A few weeks back I posted over on the AlfaOBD thread with pictures of the pages and new menus that I get. When I get time I will do a better write up and post it.

I am not sure if a Factory Reset command alone will bring the pages back...but when and if I loose the pages again I will try that instead of the steps I mentioned above.

Was not able to gain access to what's inside the cell modem cover.

Rats.
Sometimes you get lucky under the cover and it's a socket'd chip.

This is what I set to get the pages
VehConfig 1-Performance Pages Present - Yes
VehConfig 5-Off-Road Pages Present - Yes
It's been so long since I had it I recall disabling them and re-enabling them sometimes gets it back but this time did not work. I couldn't get pages to show up at all (I didn't factory reset yet)

Doesn't bypassing the telematics box work. In the other thread, it seems like that's enough to sustain the same screens without resetting often.

Bypassing that box should work. I don't see a single person that did it yet.
It's also behind the top glovebox, so it doesn't appear like it's very easy to get at.

On a side note I also tried these settings, as they are set on a Laramie GT model but it didn't work.

Special Package: DT Base/Sport/SLT+/Laramie
Special Package: Premium (Default), or SXT or R/T, or Laramie

It just changes the splash screen to say Laramire.

Bypassing it does work. Everyone that has retrofitted a UC5 has a bypassed TBM because they don’t bother to install it, including myself. I have off road pages full time. I can’t get performance pages because my truck is a HD, so the vehicle line and chassis type communicated from the BCM does not allow for performance pages.
Here’s an instance of someone that started off with a factory TBM and successfully removed it:

I have the bypass cable, so this is my next trick.
I'm done with the OTA updates after the last mess. My UC5 works well now and I see no benefits with additional, untested updates. And I'll be able to keep the special members-only pages too.

Here is how I managed to get 4 new Performance pages...see the link below to the post I made showing screen shots of the new pages/apps I was able to get...and keep for a short while...till RAM Connect remotely removed them via a connection to the telematics box. I have a 2022 RAM 1500 Lone Star 5.7 Hemi, with a 12" Uconnect 5 radio/screen.

Using AlfaOBD, all of the following Car Configuration Changes need to be set to Yes: (there is no need to back any of these changes out at any point...they do not cause any alarms, electrical or mechanical issues if left with a value of Yes)
(I issued all of the AlfaOBD changes with the vehicle in the RUN ignition switch...not the truck running...just in the RUN position...it is actually not necessary to have the truck in the RUN position but doing so allows you to see some of the alarms that will pop up on the EVIC and Uconnect 5 screen)

VehConfig 1: Performance Pages Present : Yes
VehConfig 3: Vehicle is an SRT: Yes
VehConfig 3: Sport Mode Present: Yes
VehConfig 2; Drive mode feature configuration: Yes
VehConfig 2: Memory Drive Mode Sub-Feature Configuration: Yes
VehConfig 2: ESC Drive Mode Sub-Feature Configuration: Yes
VehConfig 2: ECM Drive Mode Sub-Feature Configuration: Yes
VehConfig 2: Configuration For Performance & Gear Shift Indication : (set this one to: Performance and gear shift indication)
VehConfig 5; Off-Road Pages Present: Yes
VehConfig 8 Off-road Mode Present: Yes
ECUConfig 3: Radio Apps Present: Yes
VehConfig 2: Off road Capable: Yes

1) Now here is where the magic happens:
Issue the following change after all of the above have been changed:
VehConfig 1: Vehicle Line: (set the value to) LD-Charger
Then get out of AlfOBD and wait about 5-10 mins

2) After the 5-10 min wait...place the truck back in the RUN position and you'll probably see the following alarms displayed in the EVIC (dash cluster screen): Service Air Bag System, Service Anti Lock Brake System, Service Electronic Stability System and Service Trailer Brake System (if you have the trailer brake option)...and on the Uconnect 5 screen you will get a message that says: SOS Call Unavailable.

3) From here go over to your Uconnect 5 screen...at the bottom right you will see the soft switch for the: Vehicle, then Settings at the top right. Press it...scroll down the menu at the bottom till you find: Reset...press it...then look for the: Factory Reset...press it. This will reset your Uconnect 5 screen...you will lose your music presets, and any driver profile icons you might have set up. Wait for the Uconnect 5 screen to completely reset...takes about 1 minute...then turn the ignition switch off and go do something for about 5-10 mins. While you are waiting the 4 new Performance apps are being created and loaded onto the apps page.

4) Now because your RAM truck is not a Charger...place the truck back in the RUN position and issue the one final AlfaOBD parameter change: VehConfig 1: Vehicle Line: set the value back to: DT-RAM 1500. After the Vehicle Line command is issued back to a DT-RAM 1500, all of the alarms mentioned in the EVIC and the Uconnect 5 screen will clear.

For my truck the Off Road app is always the first to appear in the Apps list...and followed a little later by the other 3 Performance apps...keep checking the Apps page...they will eventually show up shortly after the Off Road app.

Until the telematics work around...bypass...is resolved/solved you will most likely lose the 4 new Performance apps when RAM Connect services detects and deletes them from your Uconnect 5 Apps page....if you are stubborn like me all you have to do is repeat steps 1), 2), 3) and 4) and the apps will come back again.
Below is a link to a post I made over on the AlfaOBD thread a few weeks back showing screen shots of the new Performance page menus...and screen shots from some of the actual apps themselves.

Thanks, that's great information.
Have you bypassed your telematics?

No. The Sirius/gps, LTE diversity, and cell antennas input to the telematics box, and one cable outputs from the TBM to the radio.
I'm finally putting this on my radar and going to order some parts as taking the radio out is another mod.

Just to confirm I only need 1 Fakra Z Male to Male for GPS AND XM? I figure to allow XM to connect in case I ever sell my truck or want XM.

It's safe to assume your offroad pages aren't getting zapped via wifi, as you said you are getting OTA updates on your truck so I assume that would attempt to transmit (but maybe not to the same place).

Have you bypassed your telematics?
I have not...trying to get the courage to dig into my dash...I've pulled out my screen assembly before, to do some external video camera mods (AUX 1 & AUX 2)...so I'm over the trauma of that procedure. In a couple other posts, members have posted some how-to's, pictures and procedures. I'm still studying the how-to stuff to get to the TBM2 box.

Just ordered my NK-91020-18 to do at the same time as this.
I've been in regular contact with NAVIKS...waiting for them to iron out the few remaining bugs for their NK-91020-21 - they have the 8.4 inch screen working and available, but not the 12 inch screen version. Going to do a aftermarket 360 system once NAVIKS makes their device available

2022 - 2023 RAM 1500 UCONNECT 5 (12" SCREEN) HDMI VIDEO INTERFACE + 4 CAMERA INPUTS (LEFT, RIGHT, FRONT, TRAILER)

Ah.
I already have 360 cameras and I messed they before to make sure it would work as their video shows an older car (with UC5)

This was their response
2022 - 2023 RAM 1500 Uconnect 5 (12" Screen) 360 Surround-View
Camera System In Motion + Motion Lockout Bypass Lockpick
(NK-91020-18)
Our unit will allow you to access all the cameras at any speed, and input address into the car while the car is moving. To activate the cameras at any speed you will press the right middle button on the back of the steering for 7 seconds and same procedure to turn camera image off. The rear left middle button on the steering wheel is used to activate the address input in motion function. The unit connects to the radio unit behind screen. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank You

I had to make an account to see the picutres, it's kind of a lot. I think I am just going to start taking things apart that are easy don't feel like they are going to snap and go from there.
Haven't taken a radio out for almost 10 years, and the cars I had weren't as aggressively fit together back then.

That’s correct. Once you unplug the brown and blue connectors from the TBM, you’ll link them together with that cable, and then you’ll have gps/SDARS to the radio module.

Off road pages stick for me.
I can’t get OTA updates. Updates come over cellular. No TBM = no cellular connectivity = no WiFi connectivity.

I removed the telematics box. I don't think it was meant to be easily removed. It was difficult accessing one of the bracket bolts towards the center of the dash. All of the connectors are opposite the work side, so you can't see them to unplug them. I found the grey one to be the most difficult. It's tied back so that you can't pull the box out much even after you remove the bracket bolts.
Knowing how to release the latch is a benefit. Cutting its wire tie to give just a little more working room was necessary for me, then I could see how to push the latch to the side and unplug it. Then you can pull the box out more and disconnect the rest.

After all that fuss, I installed my bypass and put the truck back together again.

So far, my performance, off road and trailer tow screens are all sticking!
And GPS and SXM still work.
