Order Tracking

According to other posters, you should be receiving the VON pretty much right away, I figured since it’s a 2021 and production hasn’t started that maybe we aren’t getting our VON until later but it seems other people are getting even more information at this point and I haven’t even received a VON 1.5 months later.

I received my VON relatively quickly once ordered but it was a pain to get it from them and to get them to actually order the truck. I stopped in 3 times and called several times before they actually placed the order. They were very passive about it. I was constantly calling and following up asking for an email copy. Truck was ordered 7/24, they emailed me the build sheet 7/27 and it was just a picture of the paper on a desk....
Here is how my experience went so far. Ordering from a Northern IL dealer.
7/7 - came in after calling the dealer to configure a truck and get a price. Received a great price within 10 minutes of being there and went home.
7/18 - came in to show a similar truck to my wife, re-configured a truck with minor changes and tried to order. Told me come back Monday, we cant order trucks on Saturday......okay.
7/20- came in to order. We did a credit app, then was told they would call first thing Thursday morning and we will order. Okay.....
7/23 - No call from them, so i called. Took my credit card info and said they will be ordering the truck right away and ill have my build sheet by the end of the day.
7/27 - Still no email or followup calls confirming order and card was not charged. So i called to follow up. Was told truck was order and not to worry. Told them to please send me the build sheet so i can confirm. Dealer," No problem, sorry it wasn't sent". Few hours go by...no build sheet so i call again. Then finally get the email. Card was never charged.
 
When was your window sticker finally available? I know you posted last week that it still wasn't available. I still don't have my window sticker but seems like that happens really close to shipment based on your timing.
I downloaded the window sticker on 7/23 which I think was after the truck shipped. - Paul G.
 
I checked in on ram chat Monday and it was a more depressing outlook than you guys have.. mine apparently made negative progress.

It went from “being built Monday” to “no scheduled build date yet, check back later”.

So I saw some of you had better luck calling FCA instead of using ram chat so I just tried that.. way better. So Monday when I called I was back to no scheduled build date, I called today and my truck is “on the ramp” and is scheduled to arrive at the dealership on August 8th. Not sure how anyone else’s experience has been but the woman I spoke to was awesome and actually seemed interested in helping. Moral of the story is I definitely recommend calling over using the chat.

I just called ramcare. Chat said it was in JB - guy on the phone when i called said there were no status updates on where the truck was at in production or when it is estimated to be built/shipped....
 
I really think it is hit or miss with who you get at FCA (via chat or phone). I definitely got a good person via chat, but more often what I got was a bad person.
I found it way easier to deal with Carl at Criswell and for him to review the status. I tried not to bother him too often (maybe ever 2 weeks), but he even sent me an update without me asking. You guys all might want to just try your sales person at the dealership. - Paul G.
 
Anyone have luck with calling and adding on a package? Wanted to add the protection package FYI it’s a 2021 so obviously production hasn’t started that why I’m curious.

You mean after you submitted the order form with initialed options and signed buyers worksheet? I imagine you would have to contact your salesperson and redo those two forms and resubmit.

I tried to make a change to my 2020 order, but the salesperson told me I couldn’t since a VIN had already been given. If it’s a 2021 and they say you can’t make a change, just tell them you want to submit a new order then and cancel the old one. I was too far in to do that.

I honestly would rather leave it, finally got the Von and vin and don’t wanna cancel and go through that again. I really just want the protection group so I’ll see if I can purchase it after take delivery and get it installed at a later time.

Talk to your sales person. I’m pretty sure I have read on here folks able to add/delete options on trucks when already ordered, depending on build status. Since yours is a 2021 and won’t start anything for 4 more weeks I’d be really surprised if the answer was just “no”.

If an ordered truck already has a VIN or is in D1 status, I believe the consensus is that an order can’t be modified at that point. Now 2021s shouldn’t already be in D1 status, but they can already have a VIN assigned which may be why some are getting the answer that it can’t be done.

I first ordered my Ram on February 19, 2020. Got VIN and VON a few days later. COVID-19 hit and stopped all builds. On 5.29.2020, I made a change to add the 33 gal tank. When my change was made, my Ram was in D1 Status (all parts present and waiting for gate line scheduling for build); therefore, I am positive you can make a change because I made a change when my Ram was in D1. Now, I will tell you that I believe making the change put my build to the end of the line again, but if a change is what you want, a change can be made.
