So you say LSD helps prevent a 1 where spin resulting in you losing... traction?AWD, by itself, does not reduce any power to the wheels unless combined with electronic traction control/stability control system. The transfer case can't tell the PCM to reduce power. And LSD isnt traction control in the same sense as the electronic traction control systems being discussed. And in the right conditions, with an inexperienced driver, LSD will cause a person to lose control easier. LSD isn't a safety feature, it's to help get power to the wheels to prevent one wheel spin. Once again, you are stretching trying to connect AWD and LSD to modern safety nannies.
Also you seem to misunderstand AWD. By design it does reduce power to wheels and transfers that power between front and back to hold traction. If a system is a 50/50 split it's not awd, it's 4wd.
Im not stretching anyone to connect AWD and LSD to "traction control" they are forms of traction control by definition.
Just traction control devices that you don't have a problem with and you don't consider are for "safety nannies".
Not everything that is considered safety control are for people who nannies. Have you ever tried to drive summer tires on snow? It's basicly not possible. Tires are a traction control device also, there are different flavors you can buy. No one forces you to use studded snow tires in the winter but they exist. If you live somewhere that is always covered in massive amounts of snow and ice you would need a winter tire, and possibly studs. Does that make that person a safety nanny too?
There are safety nannies that exist, but blanket statements saying modern technology and traction control is only for dumb people or safety nannies is just incorrect. Some of it sure, but not a blanket statement like that. SOME are improvements for existing technology that would of existed originally if the technology made it possible years ago.
