FitCamX dashcam

My card gets pretty warm. I'm sure things like whether it's in the shade or sun, if it's hot and sunny or not, etc. will contribute. After all, it's against the windshield in a dark, contained area.

That said, I pulled out the USB drive with all my music from below the radio the other day and it was screaming hot! That was a surprise to me.

Did not see this issue mentioned but my camera stopped recording when the card was full. Should have rewritten over the oldest files. Put in a new card but not luck.
Will not take picture, shows "capture Failed". Wont record loops says " Loading failed". Will see what Fitcamx says.

Just wrapped the install on mine.... Not impressed.

It's a very compact, sleek, OEM looking design - That the 'wow' factor stops there for me.

1) It's a pain to access the camera as you need to connect to it by WiFi which means you need to disconnect from your Uconnect (but the Wifi and Bluetooth connection) in order to access it.
2) You are not able to connect it to your local WiFI so everything needs to be done with your phone
3) Very basic, no speed or GPS tracking
4) Parking Guard I find is useless (yes it is hardwired). I've been trying to get it to go off and it won't. I've gone as far as taking it off the windshield and hit it a few times to get it to trigger - Nothing.

IMO - In the end it's a freakin' awesome idea but the camera and functionally are extremely basic. They could have blown the doors off the competition.

Parking guard only works if it’s hard wired to constant 12v, otherwise it does not if the truck is off.

I can see if you're constantly trying to download the clips it may be a bit of a pain but for occasional downloads I don't see it as a problem. After having installed mine several months ago and playing around with it because it's a new device I haven't had the need to download any clips so I haven't messed with it at all since. I did however get to wondering if it was still functioning as normal so today at a stop light on my way to work I decided to get into the app to check it out. Literally at a stop light I managed to connect and see the live view and confirm its still recording clips. I didn't download anything because I didn't need to but I got in within a matter of about 20 seconds at a traffic light which I thought is pretty good. I don't have the park mode so I can't comment on that. All in all I think for the price point and it looking pretty much like it came with the truck from the factory its a great camera.

Seriously though, I've wanted a simple dash cam for decades but I didn't want wires and suction cups stuck to the windshields of my vehicle's. When I found out about the fitcamx I just about jumped out of my shoe's with excitement. This is exactly what I've been waiting/looking for. It's simple, easy to install, records video and literally looks like it came with the truck. Nobody knows it's there until I point it out to them. Yeah it might take a couple minutes to download a clip but for the amount of times you will need to it's not a big deal. To be honest, I even forgot I had the camera because it looks like it belongs there

Update on mine:
I was finally able to get my camera to "factory reset" after 3 attempts and it is recording now.

My issue was the camera stopped recording when the memory disk (original 64mb) was full instead of rewriting over the oldest file.
I replaced the card with a 256mb disk and will see what happens when this one gets full.

PSA: Check to see that you camera is recording especially as you reach the capacity of your SD card.

I found Fitcamx customer service to be lacking in my case. They told me to buy a new card which I though was interesting as they supplied the card on a unit I bought 28 days ago.
A google search found that this has been a problem in the past and is usually rectified with a software update.

Will ha e to check mine when I get home
It's a good idea to check. I saw the post about it stopping the recording when the card was full so I decided to check the other day because i havent touch it in a couple of months. Mine is still working properly with the supplied SD card

I have replaced the original SD card with a 128gb one that I had in my old dash cam that was only a few months old.

I bought a 5 something gig SD card but I'm still using the one that came with the camera. Mine seems to be functioning like it's supposed to

I've never had to disconnect Bluetooth to connect to the camera. Only connection to camera is wifi

So it's still showing I have 1gb of space left on my 128gb card that was installed in July. So can't say if it will actually loop record or not.

I didn't check to see how many gigs I had left but I know it's still recording. Not sure if it makes a difference but I have mine set to record 3 minute loops. I figure it's the middle of the settings and it should be able to pick up an incident no problem at 3 minutes

Mine is set to 1 min and I have the rear camera so get two videos for each recording, which should technically fill card up faster
