FitCamX dashcam

How difficult was it to get the small center trim piece cover off? One of the YT vids on it seemed to be a PITA. Also, so what if you break the OEM cover, the whole thing (cover) is getting replaced anyway correct?
I found 1 video but can't find it again. The guy in there used a thin flat screwdriver on the center piece and it was super easy.
I follow its advised and it was real easy, nothing got broken

The absolute hardest part, is getting off that piece. The rest of the install, took less time. It's super easy. Pop off the old cover, disconnect one connector, plug new harness to old connector, install cover. Then program, per instructions. Just remember to remove protective film from camera. I'm one idiot who didn't notice, and had to remove again.:ROFLMAO:

Has anyone run the back window FitCamX camera in 2025 yet? If so, any advice? If so, did you purchase the additional lens, etc.?

Why are they getting deleted
It was just a little spat between members...like two years ago. No moderation on the actual topic at hand.

You realize you are asking about a 2 year old post?
And your point?

You do realize I can’t go back and read where I left off to see the lovers quarrel

How else would one find out why it was deleted not like I can continue reading where I left off as I do remember and have commented in that thread. One always has to wonder why a dashcam thread gets nuked consider the topic is fairly harmless and straight forward

I’m sure it was between a few on my block list lol. Sad cause it was informative

Yeah, it seems like they use the same power source at the mirror. I’m a comma3 guy as well and absolutely love it. I have thought about doing a dash cam too, simply because the comma leaves a lot to be desired in that department. The FitCam looks super cool, but I also mount my comma off the bottom of the mirror surround using a 3d printed mount, so that’s another incompatibility for me.
Can you show me the mount you speak of? I'm in the market to get a Comma ai 3x too and also have the fitcamx installed. I saw someone on Facebook had a 3d printed mount that mounted to the fitcamx housing.

I'd be interested in seeing your setup for the fitcamx and the comma. I saw this a on Facebook thread hut can't seem to find where to get it.

I don’t have a RAM anymore, but I never found a solution for having both installed. There may be one now.

Not sure what they are comparing to. Most dash cams all use the same hardware and lenses. The only difference is the package.

Well, sort of. A lot of the higher end dashcams come with better hardware than FitCamX. I have a Vantrue N4 Pro in my Subaru Crosstrek and the video quality is better than the FitCamX in my other two vehicles.

FitCamX top, Vantrue bottom....

That said, I'd rather have the FitCamX in my Subaru, just for the clean form factor. I was working with FitCamX to develop a camera for the Crosstrek, but it was getting to be too much work, just for a free camera.

Not sure if quality got reduced when you posted the pictures here, but to my eye, and zooming in, the Fitcamx has more detail, if it is the top picture.

I agree, and the greens are greener on the FitCamX. Look at the grass in the yard. Beautiful!

Both pics are the same quality as my original. The bottom image is sharper and the colors are true. The grass is bright green in the Vantrue image. The FitCamX pic on top is washed out and the details aren't as sharp. If you zoom in on each pic, you can see the difference in clarity. Also, the Vantrue video was filmed on a cloudy day and the FitCamX on a sunny day. Video quality is normally better when it's sunny.

I dunno, I did zoom in, and tommy eyes the Fitcamx has the better image, with more details when you look at the leaves on the trees especially

Look at house on the left. In the FitCamX image, the stonework around the front door looks like one color, the steps/hand rails are not defined, and the 3 shrubs against the house looks like one big shrub. It's really not close...the Vantrue screenshot is much clearer.
