Fingers Crossed...Brake Squeal Resolved

Hi everyone,
Recently there was a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that appears to address concerns similar to the symptoms that you are having with your vehicle. TSB 05-001-19. To ensure this TSB applies, we would like to get you into the dealer to have a qualified technician review the details of the TSB and specifics of your vehicle. Once reviewed, the technician can then perform the repair procedure that best matches the symptoms and diagnosis of your vehicle. Please send us a private message if you would like any assistance with this. We're happy to help!

I sure hope so! When backing out of my garage yesterday and gently applying the brakes as I'm going into my 'turn-around', the noise was embarrassingly louder than usual. I was expecting my neighbors to come running out of their house to see what could possibly make that sound (and not be followed by a crash or explosion).

Mine started the exact same thing last week during the extreme colds, it seems to be the back left brake on mine. Howled/squealed so loud my fiance called me from inside and asked if everything was alright.. goes away after driving for a bit, only does it overnight and in deep colds. hoping to get this fixed when i go in for my oil change and recalls.

Sounds like you hit the side of the garage and scraped all the way down the side of the truck! I didn't know what had happened the first time I heard it.

I called my dealer to ask about the squealing brakes problem. I told the service writer that the squealing brakes were not normal sounding and extremely loud. He said he had never heard of this problem before on the Ram. He looked up my truck build date by VIN number and then checked on the brake pads and said there have been two part number changes on the brake pads since my truck was built in May 2018. I am scheduled to take it in and they will cover then new brake pads under warranty since I am under 12K miles. I am hoping this will fix it.

Are the front pads in stock? My dealer says they are on back order with no ETA

I noticed the last few days that the sound starts as soon as I start going in reverse, even before hitting the brake. It is much more mild, but still there. Then when I hit the brake, it goes full chewbaca on me.

My dealer claims they just got something from FCA this morning on the squealing issue, although he claims it is for the rear brakes and I swear mine currently sounds like the front. He is checking on parts and will call back this afternoon. I'm going to have to have my wife record from outside, because I still think it sounds like the front and not rear. He told me the parts they need are:
68412365AB #2 quantity brake disc caliper
68412366AA #2 quantity pin disc brake
68412364AB #1 quantity Shoe Kit Rear disc brake
6512429AA #4 bolt head hex flange

I don't know what part#s they ordered but they are replacing the back brakes on mine, and I'm almost certain all my noise comes from the back.

Good News! First my dealership I have been working with said no front pads in stock with no ETA. I passed by a dealer in Memphis TN while traveling for work and was told 140 sets of front brake pads were released on 2/11. Part number is 68412557AC.

I will have had both back brake pads replaced and now the front as my squeaking came from both areas. They also are replacing rosters.

Just looked at Rock Auto. They now have Cenric pads in their catalog but not yet in stock (I am sure they will be in stock soon though). It will be interesting to see if different manufacturer pads solve the problem

Lydia, can you please help me fix this problem on my 2019 Ram 1500 crew cab at the dealership where I got it.

So I have an appointment this morning to replace front pads. Two hours at dealer and they cannot locate the pads. Come back tomorrow. This will be trip 10 to get brakes resolved. RAM service is NO help. No has not called me back. Three messages left on different days. Not worth having this product when the service is as bad as it is across all channels.

I'm currently waiting on pads for both the rear and front. Dealership said the bulletin they got just had the star case for front pads but they'll call me when they get both pairs in. Who knows when that will be. I gave an early wake up call to my wife and child this weekend pulling out of the garage in the early morning. Wheels were howling and had a high pitched squeal at the same time. I wonder what my neighbors think considering they all know I just I got new truck. Not a good look for Ram.
