Fingers Crossed...Brake Squeal Resolved

That almost sounds like the inner wheel is rubbing on the caliper or something. I had to add 1/4" spacers for clearance on my 20×12 Fuels.

I only get the squeal when braking from 55mph or so.

That is not the same sound my truck makes. On yours it does sound like something is rubbing. Mine sounds like the brakes are worn at only 5k miles after its been warmed up and I’ve been driving it. Been to the dealership multiple times, once they deglazed the breaks they said and the rest of the times they let the truck sit too long and say they can’t replixate it even tho I tell them they have to drive it immediately. The squealing is ridiculous for a truck with such low mileage. Will keep trying tho. Can anyone confirm the tsb has fixed the problem long term?

I've had my truck in FIVE times now for the squeal, and still no resolution. This latest visit was under the watchful eye of Ram Cares and they assisted with visiting a second dealership after a less than thrilling week of no truck and no resolution at my original dealership. This dealership ordered the latest and greatest rear pads/bolts per the TSB, refinished the rotors, and my truck was sounding like a school bus again by the time I got to the neighborhood (<20 miles). I guess I need to call my customer service rep back and let her know that the problem still hasn't been resolved. :-(

I'm throwing in the towel on this one until I hear that they've got a 100% solution. I have wasted too much time going to the dealership for this issue. If it gets too bad, I might for the first time ever trade in a vehicle in less than a year. As a life-long Dodge/Chrysler/Ram/Jeep driver and owner, this has been my most depressing ownership experience. They just cannot seem to fix what should be a simple problem that seems to be plaguing a large number of owners, and it is souring my opinion of what should be one of their best models to date.

Well that didn't last long. Now that I'm over the 12K miles wonder if I will get pushback?

Since I've had it "repaired" once it should still be, but you never know.

Will add it to the list of items for my service appointment coming up in a couple weeks.

Has anyone been able to find aftermarket pads for the 2019 Gen 5 yet?

I just found this sight. I've been battling this noise since around 5k miles. I had the rear brakes (adapter, calipers, shoes, etc) replaced in July, and just this last week I thought the other dealership was going to replace all of them, and turned around and did exactly what the last dealership did. Like many others, depending on who is riding in the cab everyone thinks it is coming from the back. I'm not so sure. This has to be one of the most annoying sounds in driving a car, and is completely unacceptable in a $53k new vehicle. I started looking at Fords, because I'm so tired of it. It really should be covered by the lemon law. Not sure how that works. I just had to have the power side passenger mirror replaced, because it wasn't working properly and supposedly they replaced the amplifier which is supposed to fix the audio from cutting out, or the loud beep that comes on intermittently and won't shut off.
I'm calling them back and telling them that they are still squealing. This will be my 5th visit to a dealership. Are they only doing the TSB? Do I need to be more forceful and say it is obviously not what is causing the problem.

So good news, my local dealer fixed my "squeal" with the updated pads. I have about 1500 miles on since and no squeal. Now that the temp is dropping I get what I call a morning droan from the breaks when I turn around in the driveway but usually only happens when cold and after its been sitting for a while. Def. not as annoying as the squeal but frustrating nonetheless in a $50k + vehicle.

I dropped it off last night at dealership on an incline so they had to back up first. Didn't realize all the ice was coming, so after I cleaned her off, grabbed the service writer to come with me.

Boy did the plan come together, my goodness it was the worst noise ever this time. Can't say they can't replicate the issue now. He was even saying it was BAD.

Will see what they do.

Mother nature brought ice and cold weather over night. Had taken it to dealership and parked so reverse was only option. Boy did they make gawd aweful noises and the service writer was right there to witness it.

Hopefully they remedy it along with the other issues to be looked at. If not I'll send you a PM.

Thank you very much for the update, J4U. I'm glad to hear mother nature helped you recreate the noises for the dealer tech! We're just a PM away should you need us to get involved.

They are actually repairing the rear brakes again no questions asked. Pleasant surprise and glad I switched dealers for service.

Mine still squeal, but I have gotten used to it. One year old tomorrow and it has 23k miles.

Backed out this morning and no gawd aweful Chewbacca sound. Hope this time it lasts more than 5K miles.

I took mine in for a few issues including brake squeal. Dealer said there was a TSB for brake pads. They replaced them and it was silent.... for about 1000 miles and now the brake squeal is back. I only hear it at freeway speeds with light brake pressures (scrubbing speed on offramps or slowing traffic ahead) but it is LOUD and annoying.

I'll have them look into it again at the next oil change.

I brought mine in for brake squealing for the third time in a year. As for the rear brakes, they didn't do anything on that area because they said they saw something on their system that Ram is planning on issuing a new bulletin pertaining to a new housing/parts that will change the way they have been trying to fix the squeal problem. But the dealership said they don't expect it to come out until early 2020.

Does anyone else know anything about this or can find out more of the particulars?
