--Expired-- DEAL ALERT - Hellwig Sway Bar

Installed Hellwig today, quite an impressive difference in handling. Great buy, Thanks OP!

So if I am stock 4x2 and plan to lower I won’t be able to use the links right?

you would benefit from the hellwig links threaded down all the way ... l would not use the jam nut to get it thread down even further ... your trying to get the sway bar as level as possible and your stock links will have your bar angled downward and not level ....

glad to hear everyone that installed the Hellwig bar is noticing an improvement over the stock bar.... can't wait to receive and install mine as well ... Ram should not of placed such an inferior bar on a truck that weighs over 5,000 lbs. ... wonder if the truck would benefit from a front bar replacement?? ...

Hellwig said they don’t make a front bar because the front bar performs as it should that’s why they don’t make one apparently.

lol...then lm glad Ram put in at least one good bar ... how about changing out the rubber bushing to urethane for a liitle more support and less roll ... would this help or hurt ... thx for the reply and update

I don't think it would be an improvement over stock, it's just a pivot point and the factory one does the job well.
Did anyone else have an issue with the washers not sitting flat on the D bracket on one side using the bolts and washers in the kit? I saw it mentioned in the 25page Hellwig thread, so I checked mine prior to installing and saw the issue, which is why I had to grind a flat on one side.

I used the stock bolts and washers and didn't have an issue. Not sure if the washers in the kit were the same size or not.

Just called again and they’re shipping directly from Keystone. She said I should see tracking by Thursday. Sounds like they’re following through with all orders

Ordered on 4/11 , just finally got shipping information. Should be here Wednesday. Thanks again OP.

Been driving to and from work for a couple days with my hellwig bar now. I like this upgrade. Makes me wish I should have done this upgrade sooner.

Same here z0n3, i drove for a few days in the middle hole and felt like it could still be improved so I tried the first hole and glad I did.
Couple good things about adding it now:
#1) The deal, pretty awesome.
#2) If you added it from the date of purchasing your truck, you probably wouldn't know just how well it works over stock. In a few thousand miles, we will probably forget it's there.

z0n3, do you have any rubbing on the top connection on the end link? I thought the body of the end link my come into contact with the frame there. So I flipped mine in comparison to your end links. I think that was you that also installed the end links.

I may eventually move mine to the stiffest setting as well to see what that’s all about. I didn’t see any possibility of rubbing at the top of the end links on my install. Do you have a picture showing where yours rubbed or you thought it would rub at?
Edit: also my truck is an off road package and I saw your picture of the end link. Interesting to see how much more thread is exposed on my link compared to yours.

I had the same washer problem, but after I put them on and torqued everything down they weren’t really conflicting with the bracket. Maybe a little bit but nothing I was too concerned about. If I had a grinder I probably would’ve done the same but I didn’t.

Yea, the ORP springs make your truck 1" taller I believe. Below is the top of my end link, I didn't use a washer on the inside against the frame between the hourglass bushing face and frame. On first install I did, but the stock bolt length had me a little concerned, not to mention the play that was there in relation to the steel bushing and the stock bolt. I opted to remove the washer, but when I did it brought the end link closer to the truck and hit, so I flipped it over and the problem was solved.

I measured the Hellwig end link bolts that fit the steel bushing I.D., they are nominal 7/6" bolts but measuring the shank with calipers, they are dead on 11mm, the stock bold shank O.D is 10mm, so 1/2mm (.0196") each side of bolt shank and bushing I.D. play. Not much, but I would rather it not be there. I'll come up with a solution if it becomes an issue. IMG_1574.jpg

I fixed it, added an oilite sleeve bearing into each top end link steel bushing that I had in stock and fit with a little persuasion.
