--Expired-- DEAL ALERT - Hellwig Sway Bar

Tracking # issued yesterday the 16th w/ delivery estimated for Monday 20th ... kept an eye on the tracking info for update letting me know it was rec'd by fedex and in the system, and finally as of late tonight ... package was finally picked up and is in the system and moving along w/ a new estimated delivery showing Tuesday 21st. ... so now l know its moving and l will see it hopefully Tuesday ...

sorry for the long winded story of my escapade .... here's the play by play ....

purchased late Saturday night the 11th ... rec'd order confirmation on Sunday 12th. ... no shipping or tracking as of Monday 13th. hear others with orders placed after mine get shipping and tracking info ... so no update on Tuesday 14th morning either and placed a call in the afternoon. first rep just said it should ship out tomorrow the 15th and l will get an update with tracking number ... again all day the 15th no update ... so l call again in the afternoon and get another rep and they issue a ticket and say l should hear back from another rep with more updated info ... about an hour later get an email with from a new rep JR. ... this time stating that there on national back order and if no stock comes in order will be cancelled in about 5 days ... so Thursday morning 16th. l call Hellwig just prior to calling real trucks and Hellwig says we never have a back order... stock can be replenished within 3-5 days and can dropship if needed if distributors are low in stock ... so now l call JR at Realtrucks and he goes on about this national backorder ... when l procede to him that l just got off the phone with Hellwig and there is no backorder and they can dropship if needed ... he fumbles a bit and then goes on to tell the truth that there website had a pricing error and the correct price should of been $305 and due to pricing agreements with vendors they couldn't sell the sway bar for the $125 which was way below the allowed price and offered to sell it to me at $289 ... l said sorry, not happy with that and you had my money since Saturday night and it takes almost a week for you to tell me this ... l want this sale honored for my purchase price .. .he continued to try to get me to cancel my order or pay the new price ... l insisted l wanted to speak with a manager and he tried to deal with it himself. l finally said l wanted a manager and that was it. then goes on to say they are working from home and no supervisor was available immediately and l politely said no worries have them call me when there available ... all day no call or update so l call back and speak with JR again, and he says he will try to get a supervisor to call me soon ... within an hour l got a call from Danielle a supervisor and she politely said immediately she would honor my original purchase price of $125 and that she would forward the info to there vendor to get it shipped out and that l would receive a tracking number shortly...

low and behold about 30 minutes later got an email showing a tracking number and that it was to ship out ...

so persistance paid off ... should be here Tuesday afternoon ..... :)
Thanks for posting, your info definitely helped my situation. Went through similar scenario but no owing up to pricing problem on their part or mine. I ordered the 12th and I am glad to get a resolution, but still waiting for shipping info.

Got my tracking yesterday arrived today

Rec'd mine finally today and installed ... used middle hole ... noticed the bushings on the hellwig are urethane, stock bushings are rubber ... urethane bushing are stiffer and help with reducing sway ...
THANK YOU OP for posting this awesome find ...

Just received my shipping confirmation be here in 2 days! Out of the 3 or 4 people I dealt with, Norma was the most helpful without a doubt. If you ordered and haven’t received it yet best bet is to get with her

Unfortunately she was the one saying they were canceling my order. I just told her nope. You need to get me in touch with a manager and all worked out.

WOWZA,... didnt expect such a noticable difference as forum members mentioned but, YES for sure ... immediately noticed ... someone here on the forum said coming out of there driveway was their first sign and yes, it does not rock or sway as it did before with stock bar ... going around turns and roundabouts it is a much better handling truck ... so happy with the price and upgraded handling ... :)

Ordered on the 13th when the price was going back and forth on their website and finally got my shipping confirmation for the $125 price. Took quite a few emails and talking to Norma to work it out. Thanks again OP can't wait to get it installed.

Had to flatten 2 of the washers with the bench grinder to get them to lay flat and marked that side of the D bracket with a paint pen so when installed I would know and put that side on the bottom. Pregreased both sides of the end links and rubber hourglass bushing and pressed them in the end links with a shop press, then pregreased the O.D. of the steel bushings and pressed them into the I.D. of the rubber hourglass bushings with a shop press.
The only thing that I wish would be different in the kit would be the bushings in the top of the end links, you have to use the stock bolt there, no choice and the steel bushing for the rubber hourglass bushing is for the bolts they send with the kit and there is play there with the stock bolts. May have to look at that area later, may become an issue, maybe not. When I installed, I let the end links hang from the top bolt hand tight not attached at all on the sway bar, then tightened them to the frame of the truck with the stock bolt pretty damn tight, I put a lot of a$$ into it because I knew there was potential play there. Should have taken a pic of that area, but with the elephant snot grease all over my hands, I opted not to get that on my phone.

TIP: The best way to get the elephant snot off your hands is to spray your hands with a penetrating lube, I use Aerokroil, but WD40 or whatever you have would work. After spraying, rub hands together to break that snot up, then wash with fast orange or dish soap.

Test drive home is about 6-7 miles, took the long way over a couple of tracks and some big curves, much improved over stock and I was thinking that with the Air Lift spring bags, this would be negligible, but they cannot compensate for what this sway bar does, a very nice addition to my modified truck, ride quality is better than it was when completely stock.

Stock D bracket bolts are 15mm socket head
Hellwig D bracket bolts are 8mm allen head
Stock top end link bolt is 16mm socket head
Hellwig bottom end link bolt socket head is 9/16" (or 16mm) and nut is 11/16" (or 18mm)
End link jam nut is 7/8"
@Dookie just curious why you have to use the stock bolt on the top side of the end links and not the one hellwig supplies. I will be installing shortly and was just curious.

I fixed it, added an oilite sleeve bearing into each top end link steel bushing that I had in stock and fit with a little persuasion.
Any idea of size you used, would like to try to pick a couple of before installing.

Ordered 4/12, couple of phone calls, back and forth with emails, received it today. Thanks OP and all other posters with their "negotiations stories". It helped knowing the "procurement process".

Ordered from Real Truck the WeatherTech TechLiner Tailgate Mat, give them some business as they eventually stood behind their price.

I’ll have to look Monday, took off tomorrow to fish, I have more in stock. The O.D fits the steel bushing and the I.D is about a 1/2 mm to small for the stock bolt to slide through. I put the bushing/bearing in my vise lightly held ( enough so it wouldn’t spin) with some foam padding and just threaded the bolt in and let the bolt cut its own threads. Threaded it all the way to the bolt head then reinstalled it into the end link/frame.

Anyone missing the collar clamps? I don’t have them in the box, do you think it will be ok or do I need to put the old one on tell I can get them from hellwig

Shouldn't be an issue since the standard bar(without lift) from hellwig doesn't come with collar clamps.

Mine came in a few weeks back but finally came home today and had the chance to install it.
I set it at the stiffest setting and WOW what a big difference in ride, I love it, money well spent.

Does it make a drastic difference with a lifted truck?
My handling seems sloppy after my lift & 305/50/20 Ridge Grappler tires.
