--Expired-- DEAL ALERT - Hellwig Sway Bar

Hellwig has nothing to do with it, RealTruck is the ones selling it (probably at a loss). If anything, I will look at them first for now on for anything I need in the future. To error is human, how you handle that error defines your character and integrity as a business. You can't win them all, and when you fugg up, own that $h!t and do what it takes to make sure your customers are happy because without them, you don't have a business. Do everything right, and a customer may tell a few others, do ONE thing wrong, and they will tell EVERYONE. I've handled my business like this for 30 years, has served me well.

Got shipping order last night and will arrive today, seems like a good place to do business with

I ordered Saturday morning,
I received order confirmation but no shipping info yet.
I reached out yesterday and today and they're looking into the actual company that it ships from.
They opened a ticket and supposed to reach out to see what the hold up is. I didn't mention anything about price mistake. They said it's usually 2 to 3 business days, so hoping to hear something by tomorrow at the latest.
Here's what they sent me

"Thank you for contacting our Tracking Department. Your case has been assigned to one of our World Class Customer Loyalty Specialists. They are doing a little research and will be in contact soon! If you have any questions in the meantime you can respond back to this email and your agent will be notified"

Ok so after a long week battle of calling real truck, sitting on hold, being transferred, being told it was on backorder, etc.... I might've got somewhere.

I asked for a manager today, after telling him my whole fiasco he said he would call the distributor and call me back.
He said they had the wrong part number entered and that theres plenty in stock. It will ship out Monday and I should get tracking info by then. He was super helpful. We will see, I will give an update then.

Let me know if you get shipping confirmation Monday. I’ve sent emails etc and no luck still either.

Tracking # issued yesterday the 16th w/ delivery estimated for Monday 20th ... kept an eye on the tracking info for update letting me know it was rec'd by fedex and in the system, and finally as of late tonight ... package was finally picked up and is in the system and moving along w/ a new estimated delivery showing Tuesday 21st. ... so now l know its moving and l will see it hopefully Tuesday ...

sorry for the long winded story of my escapade .... here's the play by play ....

purchased late Saturday night the 11th ... rec'd order confirmation on Sunday 12th. ... no shipping or tracking as of Monday 13th. hear others with orders placed after mine get shipping and tracking info ... so no update on Tuesday 14th morning either and placed a call in the afternoon. first rep just said it should ship out tomorrow the 15th and l will get an update with tracking number ... again all day the 15th no update ... so l call again in the afternoon and get another rep and they issue a ticket and say l should hear back from another rep with more updated info ... about an hour later get an email with from a new rep JR. ... this time stating that there on national back order and if no stock comes in order will be cancelled in about 5 days ... so Thursday morning 16th. l call Hellwig just prior to calling real trucks and Hellwig says we never have a back order... stock can be replenished within 3-5 days and can dropship if needed if distributors are low in stock ... so now l call JR at Realtrucks and he goes on about this national backorder ... when l procede to him that l just got off the phone with Hellwig and there is no backorder and they can dropship if needed ... he fumbles a bit and then goes on to tell the truth that there website had a pricing error and the correct price should of been $305 and due to pricing agreements with vendors they couldn't sell the sway bar for the $125 which was way below the allowed price and offered to sell it to me at $289 ... l said sorry, not happy with that and you had my money since Saturday night and it takes almost a week for you to tell me this ... l want this sale honored for my purchase price .. .he continued to try to get me to cancel my order or pay the new price ... l insisted l wanted to speak with a manager and he tried to deal with it himself. l finally said l wanted a manager and that was it. then goes on to say they are working from home and no supervisor was available immediately and l politely said no worries have them call me when there available ... all day no call or update so l call back and speak with JR again, and he says he will try to get a supervisor to call me soon ... within an hour l got a call from Danielle a supervisor and she politely said immediately she would honor my original purchase price of $125 and that she would forward the info to there vendor to get it shipped out and that l would receive a tracking number shortly...

low and behold about 30 minutes later got an email showing a tracking number and that it was to ship out ...

so persistance paid off ... should be here Tuesday afternoon ..... :)

Still waiting on shipping confirmation but they said the same as a other guy did that they sourced it from another warehouse and I should have shipping confirmation soon. They did this with no pushing, called got a ticket opened, ticket holder e-mailed me the next day, a few hours later got a closed ticket with the explanation that the order is being filled from a 3rd party warehouse and that I should have a shipping confirmation within 48 hrs which would be by the end of today but being a weekend I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t come tell next week. Will update once I have said confirmation.

I haven't installed mine yet. I noticed in some photos that the end links are installed two ways. Jam nut up, and jam nut down. Does it make a difference which way?
Thx

I noticed the same, the instructions show the jam nut at the bottom. Most likely so you can adjust bar a little easier to be parallel to ground as stated.

I have not installed or read the directions yet, but from the looks of it, the jam nut should be down as the opposite side is likely to gather water (inside the tube steel) that would not be able to drain out when positioned the other way.

I did mine up because I liked the way it looked and had some concern the body may hit the frame, versus the instructions way. Down, and the nut is more accessible, but it doesn't matter to the truck which way it is, personal preference. Not concerned about water at all. When I installed mine I let the end link hang from the top bolt and snugged it, then took a look at it from a distance and it was pretty square to the truck and ground (eyeballing it) so I tightened up and attached the sway bar.
Looks good z0n3...Moved mine to the first (closest to the front) hole today, it is improved over the second. My truck is a Laramie level 2 with a lot of add ons (heavy) so the firmest setting works best for my truck and my liking. Your results may vary.

the stock end links are just fine ... you won't notice any difference in performance between the two ... many have ordered the 7709 which is just the sway bar with no end links and all is well after 2 years that its been listed on this forum as an upgrade ...

They are fine but when you get upgraded ones with the sway bar for $125 there’s no reason not to install them.

those of us running lifts will benefit from installing the adjustable links

I’ll second z0n3’s sentiment. Don’t know why you would not install the beefed up links if you have them in hand. Not to mention, those of us who are running lifts that will benefit from the ability to adjust the position of the sway bar.

yes,....
the only valid reason's would be because you have a lift and it came with your setup...

Trying to understand your logic on this one, you purchase a beefed up sway bar with less flex... why would you not replace the links to the sway bar with links that have less flex...especially when you have them in hand at no additional cost?

Yeah I fail to see the point there. A kit for half the price of the normal sway bar with upgraded links. No reason you don’t use them..

just saying, simple logic, you dont fix what isn't broken ... looking for beefier links on a leveled or stock truck is a waste of money ... and as l stated ... yes,. if you are lifted you will benefit from the links since they are height adjustable ...
