eTorque @ local dealer

Based off what I can see there is simply no way for the compressor to continue running with the engine off.
Exactly right. The blower can continue to run, for a time, but the compressor cannot. For a short duration (e.g. at a stoplight), the air in the system may remain cold enough to remain in tolerance so as not to trip the thermostat and require the compressor, but (like all stop/start systems) I would expect it to restart if you're sitting very long. Thanks for putting the time into this response!

Hey guys... My question is ... Is it worth the extra money? I can't wait for some long term reviews. I am surprised Ram has not released a few of these to the media fist. Strange a dealer is the first to get one and its a unsold unit.

Until we can get our hands on system schematics, my guess is the AC heater runs off residual coolant heat and or DC from the hybrid pack.
My bad.

I was trying to understand how my upcoming Model 3 and or the e-torque did AC without an ICE running, and came across this article:
http://overdrive.in/news-cars-auto/...conditioning-system-in-an-electric-car-works/

I misread the article had switched from AC system to heating system midstream, and now realize the misinfo I posted above . Apologies.

Hard to answer that prior to owning one for a bit, but even at my low miles (<7,500/year), it'll pay for itself in mileage alone in 5-6 years. Then there's the potential benefits for off-the-line performance to consider, especially if/when towing. So I'm glad to have ordered it.

Incredibly frustrating this is literally the only review I've read on the etorque. Why is this not a bigger thing? Really surprised Ram didn't loan out some trucks to be properly reviewed by the press...

On some random 1500 review from June I read a couple weeks ago, the reviewer said Ram was sending them a etorque tester in August. Absolutely no idea why Ram started mass production before doing the press review models.

Customers come first?

Does the etorque system eliminate space under the rear seats of the truck?

I believe it is behind the rear seatback

So does that mean the seat doesn't recline as much or anything? Basically I'm thinking the etorque (and the 3.92) is the way to go, but since I can't find one around me, I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks to the system from a storage or rear seat comfort point of view.

I may be wrong on this...but I believe all the cabs have the location for it...so it shouldn't be an issue...if I am correct

As far as the sales rep and I could tell, it had no impact. It's behind the same panel that covers the rest of the back of the cab (probably used for sound deadening, structural bracing, wiring harness, etc.).

I can't see the eTorque battery interfering with the slide and recline feature.

Dang it, they figured it out. The search feature of the ram website has been neutered, now you can’t search for ETorque or rambox option. That proves the do monitor this site
:mad:

Ram and Dodge have really embraced social media. Heck the Hellcat and Demon actually rewarded users of social media.

They are watching. And although I know a few don't feel the love, they are doing things to move forward with issues...just doesn't seem like it when you are awaiting something you really want.

Now, @RamCares, please do something with the communication. That seems to be the only real complaint.

A couple of tidbits that I don't remember seeing spelled out before:
  • In the Hemi eTorque application, the cylinder shut-off technology increases fuel economy from 5-20%;
  • Fuel savings are also realized through an Interactive Deceleration Fuel Shut Off feature (IDFSO), which expands opportunities for turning off fuel to the engine during deceleration;
  • The stop-start system with eTorque improves fuel economy by up to 3.3%, or about 1 mpg on the truck's city drive cycle;
  • The 8HP75 8-speed improves fuel economy by operating the engine at a lower RPM in both city and highway situations, which also reduces emissions by nearly 11% (4x2 application).
And regarding the new 850RE 8-speed transmission implemented in the Pentastar V6 (eTorque) trucks:
  • Unique electronic controls plus a new hydraulic impulse oil storage element better support the start-stop system;
  • The truck is ready to move 350 milliseconds after starting the engine, which is less than half the time required without the system.

Do I remember hearing somewhere that all Limited models are going to have to be ordered with eTorque going forward? I feel like I heard something like that somewhere.

That's something new I haven't heard for the Pentastar.
