e-Torque generator bad here. Dealer says that there is only one available in the entire U.S. already allocated to another VIN. Was told that they don't have any estimated date on another being available. Voltage has been a bit inconsistent but holds voltage when running. The whining from the bearing is progressively getting worse and has begun to inherit a bit of a chatter. Hopefully it'll hold out until they get it resolved. Absurd that they don't have replacements readily available, being we're now into 2020's. Nobody was able to answer whether the e-Torque system will fall under powertrain coverage either. Being that I'm at 33k, I certainly hope that this won't be a re-occurrence at or around these intervals.

Seems like every part is constrained. They're likely putting everything into new builds since they're selling so many of these trucks.

When I bought my limited back in Sept of 2019 - the system went out after 60 miles. The literally took the parts off a truck on the line and fed-ex'd them to the dealer. I had to make quite the ruckus though
I believe it's spelled out clearly in the warranty documentation. It's covered under emissions device federal warranty requirements for I believe 8 yr/80K.

IMHO it's a crap system. My gas mileage is still laughable (14 ish) and it's gone out twice. Even if they fix it for free it's a hassle. The funniest part of this option is that the adaptive cruise would work flawlessly in stop and go traffic - but - when the truck stops the engine turns off and resets the cruise control 
No, that’s a safety feature. You have to tap the gas pedal or hit resume to get the truck moving again, and it will pick up the adaptive cruise where it left off.IMHO it's a crap system. Hard to know who is messing it up, the supplier, RAM ordering enough for stock or what. Yes they are selling perhaps more than anticipated however whenever you make it a required component (2020) then you should be planning for the demand and the potential parts need. Not a good thing for you owners with problems. Doesn't lend confidence for a 2020 buyer who has no choice in the drivetrain.

When you have to wait a month to get your front sway bar end links or sunroof shade parts, this goes way beyond just being a drivetrain issue.
I paid for eTorque as an option and I like the system. YMMV.

This is correct. The entire system including battery pack is 8y/80k, making it one of the longest standard warrantied parts.
Also correct. The adaptive cruise in the Ram is excellent and quite a bit more refined than the system in our 2016 Subaru Forester.

Ah - haven't tried that! That is not how my MDX or M4 behave they just stop and continue without me having to do anything.

The RAM works the same way. You just have to wait until the car in front of you has moved a ways off (my son's Tesla works the same way) or you can touch the gas to get started earlier. If no car in front of you and you have to use the brake to stop, then you will have to resume the cruise control.

16,750 miles on my eTorque, not a single problem... very happy with the system and the 18.5MPG i get.
One more thing: I only have the truck for 7 months now (Yes! i drive allooottt), so you can take my word as someone who don't have his car in the garage all day.

Every adaptive cruise is a bit different. Our Subaru with beep loudly and flash that the ACC is off once the car comes to a complete stop. The fact the RAM comes to a complete stop, engages the start/stop automatically, and restarts just with a button or gas tap is a nice improvement.

The thing that frustrates me about adaptive cruise control with stop and go? Other drivers.
Some drivers think it's OK to move over in front of you without leaving adequate spacing. Even when there's no need to make such an aggressive move. Then the truck responds abruptly by engaging the brakes. I guess waiting an extra few seconds until you can see the vehicle in the rear view before moving over in front of them is asking too much these days.

My thoughts as well. I totally get sales are higher than expected, but you need to meet the demands of current owners. If it's on the line it should be available to the consumer, whether it be under warranty or out of pocket. Pretty necessary component (which cost more) we're talking about here, and not an isolated case. It should be available on demand IMO.
Definitely not dissatisfied with my purchase, its an outstanding pickup in every way. Aside from a couple of nit picky things that I think were missed, but certainly the best in it's class. Just making everyone aware of the current situation. However, I was truly baffled by the fact that an absolute necessary part isn't made readily available. So far it's holding it's own though. Squealing like a wild banshee, but still trucking. It certainly doesn't make for good advertisement going down the road. It's the loudest thing on the truck! I'm sure it'll all work out, just a bit discouraging.

At about 4,000 miles my 2020 Limited started making a "whining" noise under the hood. The noise increased as the RPMs increased. Sounded like a bad power steering pump. Took it to the dealer at 4,500 miles and they said bad e-torque generator. Within 3 days they had a new one at the shop and installed. I just picked it up yesterday and it sounds worse now than it did before. The whiling is so bad at idle that others walking by look at the truck what a "What the heck is wrong with that" look on their face. I haven't called the dealer back yet, but will Monday. Someone said idler pully....maybe that's the key???
