Have you guys looked at how much the 48V battery pack would cost out of warranty? My dealer said the MGU under the hood was a $1,400 list price item alone, and they seem to fail after warranty coverage. Imagine that.

How long are they warranted for? Personally, I never thought the ET was worth it and never gave it a thought when purchasing. The HEMI itself is pretty bullet-proof. The ET is new unproven technology.

The E-torque components are warrantied for 8 years/80,000 miles.

Since they are covered under the 8 year / 80K emissions warranty, and these trucks have been out for just over 2 years, I’d like to know what other future predictions your dealer can make.

I was wondering the same thing. I imagine there's a few people out there that put 40k/year on their truck, but not many.

I’d venture to say that there won’t be many problems, if any.
Battery technology has come a long way, and if FCA warranties them for 8/80k, you can bet they will be fine at least that long.

8/80 is good but etorque is not covered under the "lifetime warranty". That was a bit of a controversy when the "lifetime" was still available.

I’m not worried about it. If I have the truck for 8+ years, and a part fails that my lifetime warranty doesn’t cover (both big “ifs” at this point), I’ll have long paid off the truck by then and (presumably) will still like it enough to spend a little money on a repair that will likely cost less due to being “old” tech by that time.

I got the lifetime because of the AC. Appears all brands are having issues, wife's 2017 Honda Civic, sister's 2017 Subaru Forester. Have to expect some "repair"costs if you own the vehicles long enough. Just need to know when to cut your loses. I'm not good at that.

I've been having issues with electrical in my 2019 RAM e-Torque that has 3300 miles on it. I was driving to Fairbanks about 260 miles outside Anchorage when the problems started April 4th - truck died. Went black. They said towing was arranged would be back in town the following day. In truth, they let it sit on the side of the road for 3 days in the middle of nowhere - I only knew that because one of our haul drivers was taking a piece of heavy equipment up the highway, and he told me it was still there. It was finally towed back to Anchorage April 8th and they've had it since. They called me and narrowed it down to the 48v battery pack, and then told me the unit is on back order, and they had no idea when they would be getting one.

Is there any legal steps I can take here? This just seems completely unacceptable to me. $71,000 truck I bought in Feb, after the first one I bought in Nov. was totaled. This one hasn't been in my possession in almost 2 months.

Has anyone had experience with the battery being replaced? How long did it take?
The more advanced these batteries are getting the more unreliable, I’ve had to replace the battery for a recall recently in a Toyota of mine and my mom had a replacement on her first pacifica which were one of the first from the factory, I mean now she has no problem because they replaced the module but it’s always an electrical issue with these newer cars, I’m nervous about these electrified pickups too, like that new f-150 that’s a full hybrid.

Well.....
Had the truck for 2 weeks. And end result is “drum roll” .... failed again

So now waiting to hear this explanation. This will be 28 days starting at shop so going to be well over the 30 day lemonlaw

Well just got truck back for another 20+ days in the shop. Going to see how long this run will be I hope there is no other failures. I love the truck but it’s getting ridiculous; I’m afraid to even take it anywhere then be stranded with family on side of the road. Together truck has almost been in shop for 2 months so we will see.

Best of luck to you.

Same issues as others. My 19 Laramie Limited backfired a few times before the pretty lights came on and the charging voltage dropped to 11.4v. 5 days later, the dreaded battery pack diagnosis. Supposedly this Friday they will be done. I already have the spreadsheet open and am documenting everything. Lemon Law kicks in after 30 cumulative days of unavailability here in Washington. Sad that I have to even think like this but, seems like it has been a source of continued frustration for a few on this post. Appreciated the sharing of pain so that others may benefit from the wisdom!!!

I am deeply sorry for the frustration, @3putt4me. If it would be of interest, our team here is a private message away and we are more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support as you work with your dealer.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck!

To those that have an eTorque...would you do it again or has it been more of a headache than anything?
