Yeah, I think the tape application for leveling is the right way to go. Glad to hear spacing isn’t a problem (I already have the letters, just hadn’t opened the package yet).

Slow peel on the residual adhesive is the ticket....thanks for the tip!!!

Glad it worked for you as well. The 4x4 in back didn't come off as easy, but the ram head and ram lettering adhesive comes off great by slow peeling it.

With the tape leveling, I also just made the tape as long as the lettering so it was just matter of lining up the ends of the R and M with the ends of the tape.

Looking for opinions. What is the best quality method of taking all exterior chrome badges, trim and grill and making them black. I don't want the most cost effective, but want something done right, that looks good and will last and will hire a professional custom company to do it.

Thank you

too bad they front grill letters are molded in the shape of the letters. If it was just a solid backing i was going to flip the new black letters. The tabs would line right up. Would be awesome to read "WAR" on the front.

Maybe find a D that is similar size and just replace the R and have a "DAM" or get an exacto knife used for hobbies and modify the R and add bondo or similar to fill in. Be easy to modify R to a B and have a BAM...:ROFLMAO:

did you put the new letters on yet? I have not done mine yet. I would imagine you cant lose the metal lock washer or whatever it is that is on the letters that are being pulled off, it seems like that is what holds them in place.

That's awesome. Mind posting the parts you used to create it?
not much to it. Just bought a pack of 3mm red 12V leds off ebaY. wired them in parallel and connected them to the left tail parking light. Hard part is running the wires through the tail gate to the light

I ended up painting the sport hood badges. This is primed and flat black Rust-Oleum wheel paint.

Those emblems come off hard. Very sticky. And one going to need to reapply two sided adhesive. It got buggered.

What a great start to the weekend. Drove up to the delivery of black letters and body paint matching decals. Took about 15 mins to put the decals on the letters, remove chrome ones, and insert black/red ones. I think it looks so much better.

Just finished blacking out the last part of the *** end. Pulled the chrome “Laramie” and replaced with matte black.

I used blue painters tape to outline the area, dental floss and heat from the sun (which has been a rarity in SoCal lately). Used my fingers and Goof-off for the residual adhesive, and some adhesion promoter for reinstallation.

Now on to the doors.....does anyone have any recommendations for getting the new blacked out RAM letters for the doors, on straight and spaced appropriately?

Do you have a part number for the blacked out Laramie?

Where are the body paint matching decals from?

Ram head on the tailgate is clipped. Same with hood emblems (I believe) sport hood def is, cant speak to other hoods. All other letting (ram side, Laramie tailgate, 4x4 tailgate) all just adhesive. 20798

I just bought the black tailgate Ram Head emblem. Are you saying there is no adhesive, just clips? Also, how’d you pop it off?
