After waiting 5 months (with a 2-month delay due to issues at the Port of LA) I was finally able to take delivery of my new TuffStuff Overland Alpha RTT a few days ago. I had to move the SmartCap load bars back to the factory default location of approximately 2-1/4 inches from the end of the rails. I previously had them a little closer to mount our Yakima Skybox 16. The only problem I encountered during the install was that the Alpha mounting bracket was a little too tall for the RSI load bar thickness. I added spacers from some scrap wood cut to size to be sandwiched in between each of the brackets and load bar. I’m not sure how durable this will be in the long term but for now it will do and I’ll just need to inspect it periodically. As far as positioning of the RTT, it sits about 4 inches forward of center relative to the SmartCap. The passenger side window of the cap barely comes in contact with the bottom of the floor when the RTT is fully deployed.

Anyone sleeping in these? If so how do you close the tailgate or back window while inside?
I don't have the RSI cap but I sleep under my ARE cap all the time - I have to reach over the tailgate and pull it closed and then grab the latch mechanism on the inside of the window to pull the cap closed and twist it to lock. Not sure if you get a headliner in the RSI but they are a nice feature for camping as they reduce condensation from breath and you can use velcro to attach shades over windows etc.

Did anyone use anything different than the weather strip provided for the front panel? It looks like the gap may not be filled by what's provided.

Update: ended up using some additional weather stripping to get the proper seal.

I installed the commercial version couple weeks ago and I like it. I don’t have side windows and my back window is smaller but it matches my truck and works great. I installed a bed rug to make it easier on my knees and to protect the wheelchairs I transport.
it will be nice when they come up with electric locks that can be remotely operated though as it’s a bit of a hassle to lock and unlock each door as I access throughout the day.

Can anyone with a cap manufactured in 2021 comment on the leak situation with the cap vent and side windows? It’s a lot of money for a cap that leaks. But I love the look.
Anyone with pics of it on a limited? Hard ti picture how a limited chrome trim would look with an all black top.

Although I purchased one in August 2020, I have never noticed a leak in mine. I keep all my golf clubs and battery powered cart in it all the time. If it leaked I would not keep them in there.

I did talk to someone who had the white commercial version (no side windows) he took it through a car wash and water got in it cap vent.

Has anyone been able to figure out a way to open the latches from the inside? I'd like to sleep in the back and close it up, but don't want to get stuck in there and need a rescue.

Anyone know of a kit to move the camera for the Digital Rearview Mirror to the rear top of the Smartcap? Can't get an answer from Ram service/parts and google searches are unproductive. My installer recommends finding a kit rather than wiring it from scratch due to interference from splicing

@outdoorco75, why did you elevate your bike fork mount. I've seen others do this but don't understand the advantage. Wouldn't mounting it closer to the deck give you more clearance with the cap roof?
