After waiting 5 months (with a 2-month delay due to issues at the Port of LA) I was finally able to take delivery of my new TuffStuff Overland Alpha RTT a few days ago. I had to move the SmartCap load bars back to the factory default location of approximately 2-1/4 inches from the end of the rails. I previously had them a little closer to mount our Yakima Skybox 16. The only problem I encountered during the install was that the Alpha mounting bracket was a little too tall for the RSI load bar thickness. I added spacers from some scrap wood cut to size to be sandwiched in between each of the brackets and load bar. I’m not sure how durable this will be in the long term but for now it will do and I’ll just need to inspect it periodically. As far as positioning of the RTT, it sits about 4 inches forward of center relative to the SmartCap. The passenger side window of the cap barely comes in contact with the bottom of the floor when the RTT is fully deployed.
