The debate was to let "engineers" feel important.Neither ratio is “better” than the other. There’s two options. Get the one you prefer and be happy with your vehicle. Not sure what all the debate is about.

Just me, but in real world city driving I don‘t think there is much difference. 6th gear is 1:1, 7th and 8th are overdrive. Stands to reason that the 3.92 will spend more time in the higher gears.
So you’re paying more for a lower octane? Why would you do that? When all said and done it all comes down to the price of gas, I'm paying in Western, Massachusetts 2.79 a gallon for 89 Octane, however I use 87 which is 2.89
think it was a mistypeSo you’re paying more for a lower octane? Why would you do that?
Weird, my order was accepted with the 3.21 and ORGI was just playing around on the Ram Build site and it would NOT allow me to get the off road group with a a 3.21 rear end. I was seeing what mine would cost if you built it without the BTS Edition.
I have a Built to Serve with the ORG and a 3.21. It is one of my only peeves. I wanted a 3.92 and could not figure out why mine with the trailer package tow mirrors and the off road group would be ordered without the 95 buck 3.92. I see they fixed that so no one can do it again... Doesn't help me. But, I'm finding that the 3.21 is still pretty good overall including pulling a 6500 lb trailer, but...still.
I corrected my typo. busy day here at work, surfing the internet on my breaksSo you’re paying more for a lower octane? Why would you do that?
Might have been the way I did it, don't know. It did allow me to do it a week ago, but it is a bit different this week.Weird, my order was accepted with the 3.21 and ORG
Nope. Manhood is full and bold. No compensation needed other than counterbalance for its heft as it can get unwieldy at times.Gee Whiskey, you sure are worried about your uh, "manhood" Compensating perhaps?
A tip for you, grab the 3.21 to save hundreds each year on gas and extend the life of your hemi.... and for your manhood problem, just roll with the mirrors flipped out.
Yep. Especially on this thread. Really all the real information is in the first page or two of posts. It is just a giant pissing match after that. Might as well keep stirrng to see how far it goes. Funny how worked up some get over super technical nuances. Mostly, it's the whiskey....Based on a lot of MountainWhiskey's other posts, he often posts things tongue in cheek. The kind of joking that doesn't translate well to the internet since you can't see a grin--without using the smilies.
Don't quit your day job...As long as we chose 3:92. I'm a poet and didn't knowit

The 3:21 adding additional drag to the motor when pushing larger tires and a fine aerodynamic truck certainly does nothing to extend the life. In most vehicles the extra drag will equate to lower milage. We can pretend that it gets an extra mile per gallon to help compensate for the feeling of inferiority you might be suffering from with the anemic 3:21 gears. I can easily swing the $200 for the difference.
I would help you out with a few manhood tips but I doubt it would do you much good . Maybe see a specialist or something.
I don’t get what the fuss is about. I’ve had trucks with 4.11’s and it was fine. My last truck had 3.08’s which were fine. And my current 3.21s are fine as well. As long as it does what you need it to do you’re good
