well I guess the 4.56's i put in my OLD truck just ain't worth talking about....lol

What transmission do you have? Because if you have a 65rfe with a 4.56, the zf 8 speed + 3.21 still has a much deeper first gear for off the line grunt, while offering a taller overdrive for better MPG, and more gears to choose from all around.

There is 0 benefit from your setup over and above a 5th gen with 3.21's. Even if you ran 4.89's you'd still well behind a 3.21 5th gen in every area.

The math:

I had a 2005 power wagon with 4.56.

It did not like cruising fast. Replaced the driveshaft to try to eliminate the vibrations at speed.
Helped a little, thinking the original was out of balance. Still, it or me didn’t like much over 65 mph.

Maybe why now they are 4.10.

It was my previous truck an 02 F-150 on 36"s that died a horrific death that's how I ended up in my NTM 21 RAM BH. The 4rw70 with a .70 OD was plenty comfortable...still cruised 85 mph...topped out at 136 (yes I had a programmer) and would "skeet" 2nd gear if I wanted to ( a pr of 36" coopers sound weird...skeeting 2 nd gear...yeah I built the tranny too)

I was talking to this guy a few minutes ago. He's taking his dryer in for repairs. He could have used his 2020 Ram 1500 with 3.21 gears, but didn't want to risk smoking his transmission, so he loaded it up on this tandem trailer and hauled it in with his bike.

Smart man. 🤣

At least the guy knows something about hooking up trailers that exceed the payload capacity. Look at the Trailer Toad he’s using.

A bike with 3.92s. Go figure!

He knows his trucks limitations. He'll get there faster too.

Funny...but I pay the neighbor's kid to help me get my truck (3.21 gears, natch) out of my driveway. He's got a nice 10 speed bike, better than the one pictured above. When I'm ready to go, he grabs my door handle and starts peddling. Once I'm up to speed (about 5-10 mph) he lets me go. He goes off to play, I go to work.

It's not a pain once you get used to it.

I -do- get great mileage though.
