Having the same problem. What did that cost you? Did warranty cover any of it?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it was covered by the warrantee and no cost to me.

Dusty

Having ambient lighting issues but not there. The entire rear passenger door has no lights working. The driver door has the light at the door handle not working. And no dome lights or anything when I open the door. So far this is my only issue in 1000 miles.

Just picked up my Truck yesterday and am having the same issue, upper glove box light staying on all the time.
I’ll keep checking back to see if the replacement of the entire box is the answer.

What the heck FCA?
I would understand not catching a faulty part in the engine or bad electronic component, but a light that stays on is minor thing that could be caught at the factory during final inspection. In my case it was dead ambient lighting... again, anyone with eyesight would have seen this, had they checked.

Also, I would even accept this on the first few weeks of production, while all the kinks are identified and processes implemented, but not nine months in.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to spot these. Just basic QC. Step it up!

Can anyone confirm that all Laramie trims have the ambient light strip above the glove box? I went to the dealer yesterday and I don't have one at all in my truck, so not just 'not working' 'not there at all'. Wouldn't surprise me much if it's just missing from the build but I'd like to know for certain before I press the issue with the service adviser.

Thanks.

If you have ambient lighting everywhere else on the dash, than yes, you should have it above the glovebox as well. Otherwise, you only get the single "ambient" LED above the overhead center console (on the headliner).

The Ambient Light Package is standard on Laramie and all trims above, and yes, that includes the light bar at the top of the Upper Glove Box.

Best regards,
Dusty

My Big Horn has the ambient lighting switch, but no ambient lighting.
You have one light that should be working. Right above the center console in the overhead housing between the two map lights. No idea why it's there.

I think the purpose is to switch off the interior lights when you open the doors.

Yours is perfect. Mine suffers from the issue where its uneven across the top and too much light coming through the right side top of the box. It looks crappy.
Mine, too. More light coming from the left side. It seems the early ones were not adjusted correctly.

Dusty

Dusty, do you plan to get it fixed? I'm concerned about having the dealer replace the box because according to the All Data site it's a lot of dash disassembly. I'd do it myself it I could get the part from them and had the time. I fear toolmarks and scratches on dash and can't decide if it's worth it.

Good morning.

Actually, I've already had the original upper glove box replaced because the interior lamp would not switch off when the door was closed. Other than the lamp across the top is unbalanced, there were no apparent repair quality issues with the replacement. There were no tool marks or any evidence of the replacement at all.

Of course, that could be dependent on the competency of the technician. Mine, apparent, was good.

As an aside, I talked to the technician a few weeks ago and he said mine was the first one he had to replace, but he's done four others.

Best regards,
Dusty

I have a Limited and have no lighting over the glove box.. Not even sure there is a light even on that corner from what I can see. I should have one correct?

Yes. All Limiteds have this. Time to take it to the dealer.

This is what mine looks like:
