AlfaOBD

I’ve done some searching and a ton of reading but can’t figure out if there is a way to completely turn off all lights with the headlight knob while the truck is in gear. Would setting the drl up like a USA truck do the trick or is it not possible? I don’t plan on using this on public roads, just mainly old forest roads and private land etc.
If your truck is Canadian, these settings will put the radio menu item to toggle DRLs on and off:
CBC Features: DRL Configuration- Optional
CustSetMenu 1: Daytime running lights CSM Present- YES
Then, to turn the separate signature lighting feature off (upper and lower strip that are on anytime the truck is on):
CBC Extern.Light Calibr.: Signature Light Present- NO

Can you send me your original BCM log, and your current? Also, what faults are in the BCM?
So for some reason the 2nd time I started the truck today after making the changes (and changing nothing beyween) I did not get the forward collision error and since it was dark on my drive home from work I can confirm the auto high beam works. The second time was a remote start, doubt that would make a diff. Here is my BCM log before any changes were made. I’ll have to get the current log tomorrow when its light and warmer.

I notice a lot of guys recommend a security bypass cable. Is there any advantage to those vs a security bypass module like this one I bought?

No, they both plug into the same security gateway connectors and do the same thing. There is a difference between what interface you get, though. If you get any interface besides the OBDLink MX+ or EX, then it won’t be able to connect to any modules that are on the IHS bus without using another adapter. Some of these would be the radio, hvac module, CVPM, door modules. They’ll connect to the BCM and make changes, which is what most people with AlfaOBD do, but they are limited if you want to diagnose any issues with the IHS bus modules.

I don't think so, the cable is a bit cheaper usually. I have seen some do the bypass harness that they leave in all the time such as this https://www.kaodtech.com/product-page/security-module-bypass its benefit is you leave it hooked up then you can just use OBD port, but it is more expensive. I just went with cheapest option at the time which was the cable.

That’s another option too. With that type of bypass, the gateway is still in place, meaning the radio is still secure. The only drawback is, you can’t connect to the radio module with that bypass, even if you have the MX+.

Hi jimmy,

I modified the following
CBC Features: DRL Configuration- Optional
CustSetMenu 1: Daytime running lights CSM Present- YES

The day time lights are still present. I have the switch to auto and in uconnect I can see the option which is not enabled. Am I missing something else? All i want on is the signature lights during the day and I thought this would do it.

thanks

Check the setting CBC Features: Tunnel Detection, and make sure it is set to NO.

I looked that up and saw a post where someone else has the same issue and thier intereior is dimmed during the day. (you're part of that thread) Thats my issue too. Oddly enough, this started happening after I set the fog drop out and DRL setting with alfobd. Maybe Alfa is doing this setting ? I never had all my lights on at the time when using the auto settings.

As you suggested and sure enough, it was set to yes. Thanks for the tip. lets see how things go from here ! You rock sir !

cheers

Just got the OBD link MX+ and programmed my fog lamps to stay on with the high beams. Next is to get the global windows down and up to work with the key fob, sweet!. The diagnostics are so far awesome as well. Love the graphing features!

Global up/down windows doesn't work on 5th gens unless you have a TazerDT.

Do I need the bypass cable if I only want to use a bluetooth scan tool and a phone app to check/clear codes? I do not plan on using AlfaOBD.
