I know this thread is in the 1500 forum but its the most frequented thread about passive entry so Im looking for some help. Ive got a 2500 and I installed the front and rear setup from @Jimmy07 today. I cant figure out where to tie in the extra rear harnesses for the rear doors. I know its supposed to be in the bottom of the (front, I think)door sill but there are multiple wires that are the same color thats supposed to be tapped. How do I know which wire to tap? If anyone has done the rear doors on a 2500 and could point me to the right place it would be greatly appreciated. Here are some pics of what Im working with.

Im supposed to tie these loose ends into green/white and green/yellow wires but in the bundle of wires in the door sill there are multiples of these color combos. How do I know which ones to tap?

I had same problem with my 1500.
I ended up using a multimeter to trace the wires from the front doors …
Unless you can find someone with super detailed photos…

Alright I solved my own problem. 2024 Ram 2500 Tradesman Power Wagon.

For the driver side rear passive entry door handle wiring harness from @Jimmy07 it calls for tapping into "green/yellow" and "green/white" in the front door sill. These wires are hard to find since the bundle of wires is so large and there are multiple "green/white" wires. If you look in the rear door sill where the wires are coming directly from the proximity sensor, which is located in the rear bottom corner behind the trim piece(about where your left hip is located when sitting in the back seat) you can see a twisted pair of wires that are "solid green" and "green/white" so you know these are the two you are looking for. If you look through the bundle in the REAR door sill there are a lot less wires so its easier to identify which "green/white" is the correct wire and its also easier to find the "green/yellow." Run the harness from Jimmy07 through the B pillar and rearward to the rear door sill and tap into the wires there.

Here you can see the proximity sensor and the "green" and "green/white" wires.


Trace that "green/white" wire down to the bottom of the door sill (it actually stays as a twisted pair through the whole bundle of wires in the harness) and tap into it with the wire from Jimmy07's harness that has the "green/white" label. (mine was solid green)


Then search in that same smaller rear door sill bundle of wires for the "green/yellow" and you will find it more easily. Tap that one with the other end of Jimmy07's harness that is labeled "green/yellow" (mine was red) and you are good to go for the passenger side.


Now for the passenger side. This one was even more tricky because neither of the wires coming out of the proximity sensor match what the harness from Jimmy07 says they should be. You actually need to go into the larger bundle of wires in the FRONT door sill to find the matches. I must have counted 5 different times before I actually found a "green/orange" wire that was called for by Jimmy07. I didnt take any pictures of my harness from Jimmy07 tapped into the bundle of wires but they matched up once I actually found the two correct wires.

Here is a picture of the passenger rear proximity sensor with "white/green" and "blue" wires. I initially tapped these in the rear door sill and it did not work. I had to run the Jimmy07 harness up to the front door sill and tap into the wires called for on Jimmy07's harness to get everything to work. Im not sure why mine wouldnt work when tapped into these wires. Its possible that my tap job was done poorly and you could tap these two but for now I will say DONT tap these two wires. Go into the front passenger door sill and tap the wires that Jimmy07's harness calls for.

Just now seeing this. I don’t believe you tapped the correct wires. What you are referring to as “proximity sensors” in the doors are actually the impact sensors, so their wires are not what you are looking for.
What you need to do is essentially tap into the front door handle wires, and you’ll find them in the front door sills in the blue circled areas in the pic below.
A rule of thumb when looking for the wires:
- if there is a twisted pair of wires, and they are both not the colors on the labels of my pair of wires, then neither of those twisted wires are it.
(example: driver side is to tap green/white and green/yellow. If you find a twisted pair with a green and a green/white, then that green/white is not it).

Just now seeing this. I don’t believe you tapped the correct wires. What you are referring to as “proximity sensors” in the doors are actually the impact sensors, so their wires are not what you are looking for.

Thanks for the info, ill update my post so I dont spread false info. Whats crazy is, on the driver side, Im tapped into the green/white from that twisted pair coming off the impact sensor and my door handles are all functioning correctly!

Pretty much lucky, because that green/white wire just happens to be the impact sensor ground/return wire, and any sensor ground wire works for the door handle return wire.
