Adding Passive Entry: How-to

Can i have the dealership permanently program it to my truck versus using Alfaobd? I rather not keep having to reprogram after dealer visits.
The only way is to convince the dealer to add the sales code to your VIN. And I highly doubt they will do that.

Bummer. Thanks.
The only time a dealer visit could possibly revert your settings is if they restore your vehicle configuration. The only time this is ever done is if there is a recall or TSB that has to do with the BCM, which is extremely rare.
Even in the rare instance this would ever happen, you don’t even need to manually go in and change the settings again. You just create a backup file of your BCM, and just go to restore configuration from backup if the settings get reverted.

@wradar What did you end up doing for the handles?
Yup, and they turned out great! I purchased the Diamond Black Crystal handles and lock covers, sanded them down (just enough to scuff them up all over), and then spray painted them with Rust-Oleum textured black spray paint, which is a "close enough that you can't tell the difference" match to the other handles. Two coats did the trick.

Tips:
  • Remove both of the rubber gaskets from the handle before painting it.
  • Use masking tape to tape off the parts of the handle you don't want to paint (e.g. the unlock button, the "grip" area on the back side of the handle, etc.) Use a razor blade or other precision cutting implement to cut the masking tape around the areas you don't want to paint.
  • When you're trying to get the giant two-plug harness from the door to the body re-installed in the body:
    • install the rubber cover back onto the harness before putting the harness back into the door. Ensure it's fully seated on the harness.
    • don't hold the door all of the way open. Instead, close the door a couple of inches, then fit the harness into the body. Closing the door just a smidge from full-open will create more room to maneuver the harness into the body hole.
  • It took me about two hours for the first door (I was also replacing the interior door handle release cable, which was an unrelated repair that may have added 30 minutes to the passive entry install). The second door took a bit over an hour, if I remember correctly. The tail gate also took about an hour. It's very likely someone less anal about checking their work every two minutes would get this done a lot faster than I did.

That doesn’t sound too bad then. I’ve been piecing parts together and been debating as of late.

Does anyone know the part numbers for trucks with delmonico red paint. I didn't see it listed in the column with all the part numbers. Does anybody know how to get in touch with Jimmy so that he can make me a harness for it. Thanks nicholas

I have a 2019 delmonico red big horn and used these:

6CV361RVAD x2 (handles)

6CV50NRVAC x1 (passenger cap)

6CV52NRVAB x1 (driver cap)

Quick question……So how much does it cost in parts and software to switch over to passive entry?

I’m sure the answer is in here somewhere but don’t have the time to search.

About $450 if you are buying everything.

Just used all this great info to add passive entry to my 1500. Thank you everyone that put all this information together, and thank you Jimmy for the harnesses! It was a pain in the butt, though the outcome is worth it!

If you are going to use the numbers below to order parts, double check them as things can change over time, so it's going to be up to you to verify you're getting the correct part when ordering. If you find a mistake please let me know so I can correct it.

5th Gen 1500 Handle and Cap Part Numbers
These should work on any of the 2019 and newer 5th gen 1500 trucks. Harnesses are going to be more specific based on your options, or you can just add the 2 wires and plugs to your existing stuff and save a good bit of money.

The following is a breakdown of the parts you will need to assemble your own 2-wire harnesses for the doors, as well as the rear antenna. All of the connectors and terminals can be found at Mouser or Digikey, except for the Yazaki stuff.

Rear Antenna Wiring Parts

Heat shrink tubing (recommended)
Braided wire sleeve (recommended)
Rear PE Antenna: 52112204AA or 56046957AA should work in this location
2019 & 2020 Rear Fascia Connector Terminals: TE Connectivity 1241380-1
2019 & 2020 Rear Fascia Connector Wire Seals: TE Connectivity 828904-1
2021 Rear Fascia Connector Terminals:
2021 Rear Fascia Connector Wire Seals:
2019+ Rear Antenna Connector Shell: TE Connectivity 1-1438608-5
2019+ Rear Antenna Connector Shell Terminals: TE Connectivity 1355717-1
2019+ Wire Seals for Antenna Terminals: TE Connectivity 963530-1

Door Handle Wiring Parts

Door Connector Terminals: Aptiv 10762775
Door Handle Connector Shell: Yazaki 7283-6079-30
Door Handle Connector Shell Terminals: Yazaki 7116-4720-02

Yazaki parts are hard to find without ordering minimum quantities. One option is to call SMD Inc, and see if they’ll send you free samples (2 connectors, 4 terminals).
For anyone that orders the OEM parts and can confirm they work, if you PM me the part numbers, year and color of your truck, and any additional options you have from the factory in the doors, I will make one of the posts I have reserved dedicated to a list of confirmed part numbers for each color there is. This will help a lot of people out having a short list specific to each color rather than having to search it all.
Do you know what the part number for the handles are for the built to serve edition? I have the gator one and my handles are black like a matte color
If you are going to use the numbers below to order parts, double check them as things can change over time, so it's going to be up to you to verify you're getting the correct part when ordering. If you find a mistake please let me know so I can correct it.

I ended up ordering the 56046957AA from bamwholesaleparts.com and got it in about a week. I havent installed so cant confirm it works but others have and said it works with minor adjustments to the mounting position but functions fine otherwise.
56046957AA looks to be backordered. Earlier in the thread it showed 52112204AA worked as well for about $5 and in stock. Any confirmation that works for sure? The other part number seems to be the most common.

Installed on my 22 Ram 1500 this weekend. Great instructions from MayhemMoore, very easy to follow, Passive Entry option is now in my settings menu. Used Jimmy07's cables, professionally made (labeled, etc.) - I would highly recommend getting these cables from him. Passive entry is working all around.

I used 52112204AA for a 2019 big horn and can confirm it works fine.

I'm 95% of the way done adding PE to my 2022 2500. I have broken two pin connectors on Jimmy's door harnesses(one on each side) being a little carless and made a mistake. He has been kind enough to send me a few replacements, but I'm inexperienced in crimping these types of pins.

I've ruined one replacement trying to crimp it with some needle nose pliers. I don't want to ruin any more, so can someone explain or point me to a resource that shows the proper way? I'm not opposed to buying a crimping tool if needed as I plan to add PE to the rear door in the future. Thanks.

I have been trying to locate the part number for the cheaper antenna for 21 ram 1500 thanks in advance
