Adding Passive Entry: How-to

Finally got my handles working, thanks Jimmy07 for the harnesses and everyone for the info! I used AlfaOBD on a windows laptop and the program definitely isn't user intuitive so it took me awhile to figure out what to do but I got all the settings updated. Even got the fog lights to stay on with the high beams.

The full kit that includes the rear antenna provision is $600. You can source the brand new parts and use my harnesses for about $250 cheaper to get the fully factory functioning feature.

Easier too, it'd be more work to replace the entire door harnesses instead of just add the two required wires.

Yes, that will work. Many have done it on the 4th gens.

What happens if you just hook up the rear bumper antenna without getting the door handles? I just want it to open when I walk up to the truck, without using the handle, is this possible?

I’d like to know if this is possible too. I have passive entry from the factory but this would help with unlocking the back doors if it would just unlock when I approach.

It won't auto unlock just by walking up to the truck. The rear antenna is for opening the tailgate without unlocking the truck first.

I was just wondering if there was a way to change the programming to unlock when near the truck using that antenna, but I guess that's not yet possible. It should be though. Would eliminate needing to replace the door handles

It’s not possible at all on these trucks. The antenna only senses the fob, but a physical switch must still be used to passively unlock the doors.

I added it this weekend, but I broke the little white plastic thing on the door to body connector so the boot doesn't sit flush. Anyone know what that part is called? Or a part number?

I did the same thing. Were you able to remedy the situation? did you have to buy a whole new harness?

I forgot all about that. Hasn't caused any issues.

Had an issue pop up intermittently (happened twice before) where the drivers side door latch wont catch, so the door just bounces open when shutting it. The latch rotates and locks with the button on the handle or inside when Im in the truck, just not when I try to close the door. I have to climb over the rear seat to open the door by the interior handle. Normally, it just goes away and closes as normal.

I went to the dealership to have them fix the latch (because I just moved and dont have all my tools) and they pulled a DTC of B1A75-01 and 13. The tech said the door wont latch because the rear antenna is missing (I broke the leads during install). I think he was talking about the FOBIK security feature but didnt really know what hes talking about. Like I said, was never an issue for the 6 months its been like that, except for those two instances where it worked itself out after an hour. If he is right, it seems to me that turning the rear antenna off in AlfaOBD would get rid of the error and allow my door to close again.

I tend to think that its more of a mechanical issue where the door handle latch slid off the catch inside the door. I know @Jimmy07 is the resident expert here for this project. If anyone has had similar issues or can clue me in about the ECU potentially causing this. Please let me know. I love having passive but the dealership tells me that I need to go back to stock and flash the ECU to be bale to close my door again.

The latch issue is 100% mechanical, and has zero to do with the passive entry system or rear antenna.

Does anyone know what the part number would be for actual front drivers door wiring harness with passive entry? 2021 BIG HORN. I have searched on many mopar part sites but I just can't get an exact number.

Another successful install. I did not do the hidden bolts method. I did the service manual way which was super easy, no issues at all doing it that way. The " how to " write up was incredible and the help from forum members was amazing. Jimmy's cables and service was awesome.....top notch!! Thanks to all
