2026 HEMI or Hurricane?

Agreed. I didn't dispute the fact that there are likely hundreds of thousands of etorque trucks that haven't had issues with that system. But that is little comfort to anyone who has had a failure with the system and they're waiting for weeks for a replacement part, even if it's only one or two percent of etorque owners. When you're the one with the issue, it's 100% failure rate for you.

I suspect there would be a lot fewer people who have issues with the system if Ram hadn't been offering the Hemi with and without for so many years. Just my opinion. If all 5th gens with the hemi would have been etorque from the start, I suspect we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I completely get that and I've stated as such to the few that have had to have a new HEMI at less than 10K miles and waited months. Everything is an obscure stat until you become part of that stat, happened to me when an indian ran a flashing yellow hitting me and 2 other doing 20K damage to my then pristine no issue limited. I said it then when I became part of that statistic (long shop times) and my truck is still in the shop for the 3rd month. It sucks but that's life

Adaptive headlights aren't a gimmick?
Overdrive (8 speed) trans isnt a gimmick? That was specifically built for epa
8 million way seats aren't a gimmick?
Power windows aren't a gimmick?
I could go on but 90% of what's on modern trucks aren't necessary for them to do truck stuff. The "gimmicks" add to the comfort, utility, mpg and overall usability of a truck. Thats not a reach, just fact
Keep reaching because that's all you're doing! The gimmick is attempting to save MPG that just isn't happening and that's posted by MANY!! 🤣🤣🤣

Those things are only a gimmick if they are not useful to you. Etorque is useless to me so I would agree with @CHeYeNNe71 in saying it's a gimmick.

Ha yeah I'd say you definitely get that. Our 2020 Limited was down for three months waiting for an RF hub which the water coming in the leaking rear window caused to fail. Happened with about two months of warranty left. They weren't even going to replace the rear window until I made a stink and RamCares stepped in to help with that. I hope you get your truck back soon.

Nah, etorque or auto start/stop saved me fuel, I drove my truck with it and without it in the city and it made a difference that could be measured. It was worth about 1.5 - 2.0 mpg in the city for me or 14 w/o it and a little over 16 mpg with it. It may not have worked out for everyone but it worked out for me so not a gimmick. Many others have said the same

Would be interested if they post sales at the end of next year (or even each quarter) with a subset based on engine types, Hemi and Hurricane.

Still a gimmick! As many have said otherwise and get same MPG as without.(y)

And many have stated otherwise and saw an mpg improvement. You having a different opinion of it doesn't negate others experiences.

I had etorque on a jeep rubicon and it made the start experience almost undetectable (from a auto stop at light situation). My buddy did not have the etorque in his rubicon and it felt clunky and slow when starting from an auto stop. I know it’s something else that could potentially break but I liked it for the year and a half I had that vehicle. Wonder if it makes it smoother on the hemi?

The Hemi without etorque does not have stop/start so there's no way to compare that on a Ram 1500. I will say that on the two trucks I owned with etorque, the stop/start operation was very smooth. With the stock exhaust I often couldn't tell when it shut the engine off unless I looked at the tachometer.

I had a 2012 Grand Cherokee with a Hemi with start/stop. I hated that.

My '19 RAM with Hemi/eTorque was so quiet/smooth (for restarts) that I really didn't mind it at all.

My '25 RAM SST HO has start/stop and I have been turning it off every time I drive. The delay on the restart when I take my foot off the brake is *just* long enough to annoy me.

Question...if the rho twin turbo 540hp is sooo much better than the 395hp hemi...why does it tow 3000 pounds less? Shouldnt it tow more with all that power? Or does it overheat when loaded like all the other turbos?

Suspension, my friend.

The Baja super trucks are all neutered when it comes to towing.
I believe the RHO is even rated to tow a couple hundred more pounds than the Raptor.

In Limited trim the HO is rated closer to 10k, but even then that number is payload limited.

Besides, Pulling power has long since been the limiting factor in towing ratings.
