2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

I know someone who bought a 2025 big horn. In fact, he's the only person I know outside of this forum who's purchased a 2025. At 2,000 miles, he's had the following issues:

-After the truck sits for 2 days, the engine would knock until it heated up. He took it to the dealer and the oil looked cloudy and green. He also noticed that, prior to taking it in, the oil gauge was in the red part of MAX. After an oil/filter change, the oil pressure is approx 25-26 and the gauge is reading 3/4 to MAX. It's still doing the knock after sitting for 2 days.

-The locks intermittently do not engage/disengage (sometimes both, sometimes just one), the navigation screen intermittently blacks. Sometimes it's the top half, other times it's the bottom half. Technician said the Body Control Module (?) had a bunch of errors and likely needs to be replaced.

I reached out to my local RAM dealership and the earliest they can get me in is Monday. Unfortunately the dealer I bought from is over an hour away but if they can get me in sooner I may have to bite the bullet and go there. I might try going to a parts store to see if they can get it on their scanner but not sure if their Software will be updated.

It seems like everything is running fine though and I wouldn't even think anything is wrong with it. Hopefully that continues.

Well, on my way home tonight the CEL magically disappeared. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts. I'm going to keep my Monday appointment for now in case it happens again.

As much as it sucks going to the dealer its worth getting the issue documented and them reading the codes. But I’m not sure I would be willing to leave the truck with them.

What was the code? Did you scan it before the CEL disappeared?

I went to O'Reillys and tried using their scanner but the truck is too new and it couldn't read it so I then took it to the mechanic that does some work for me and his scanner couldn't read it either.

As a last ditch effort I took it to the RAM dealer in town, the one I have the Monday appointment with, asking them if they could just do the scan really quick to get the code and they wouldn't. They said since it is a steady orange light instead of the flashing red it wasn't urgent and it would need to wait until Monday. I really dislike this dealer and wish I didn't have to deal with them but I'm stuck unfortunately.

The dealer I bought the truck from said they would get me in to check it but they are over an hour away. That dealership absolutely rocks.

I'm more than willing to bet the car detected a misfire. They're going to need to give you a software update, but last I heard it's not been rolled out yet.

I feel you on the dealership. I bought my truck from a dealer about 1 hour away. But I've been doing my maintenance service at a dealer 5 mins away. I just got an email a few days ago that the dealer near me is closing down.

Probably the consequence of not getting local support. Now, you get the privilege of driving to the dealer you supported.

Yup 😢

Which dealer do you go for service? The next closest dealer with a decent review is Nielsen CDJR, East Hanover. 45mins depending on traffic.
Salerno Duane CDJR, Summit is also about 30mins away.

More evidence of what I predicted. These overly sophisticated engines are going to be nightmares at high mileage.

Hemi is also complex... two more cylinders (vs hurricane), MDS, VVT, active intake the list goes on. I will never understand the hate against a new motor that runs on 87 octane, gets the same or better fuel economy and makes way more usable power. The whole don't make em like they used to attitude doesn't really hold any water when you are buying a new vehicle. They are filled with complex systems.

Indeed, if we follow that argument to the end of the path we find that EVs are massively less complex than any ICE engine.

So complexity isn’t the issue, is it?

Just say “I don’t like the Hurricane” and that’s fine.

Did they remove the feature that would auto park the vehicle when a door is opened?

No - on mine it works!
Well it does not work on mine and I love it haha. I'm able to open the doors while reversing or even open a door and put it in reverse to make sure I get in my parking spot perfectly!

I doubt it, unless you can get the dealer to switch the sales code to the LED option. I got bulbs from Headlight Revolution. It was about $225 for 4 tail light bulbs, and 2 reverse light bulbs. They're 100% no error, but the OBD port will tattle on you when they plug into it. A big banner will flash across the page "Non-Factory Bulbs Installed". They work fine, and they're a LOT brighter than any OEM setup. You have to get the Limited or Tungsten to get the LED tail lights. Dodge really cheaped out on the Laramie. Other than leather seats and a few bobbles, there's really not much difference between the Laramie and Bighorn. You can skin the Bighorn seats with leather, and still come out cheaper. It's ridiculous.
Which ones did you go with? The morimoto or GTR bulbs?
