2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

I emailed Ram application support to complain about how silly it is that their app makes you input a pin every time you want to control your vehicle. It is even worse that if you enable faceid it "forgets" and you have to re-enable it every so often. In the same email I asked about when the Phone as a key feature was going to be enabled and they said it will be "very soon with an over the air update. Please be on the lookout for the next update to ensure you will be able to use this feature."

I hope their version of "very soon" isn't 6 months from now.
I've never heard them say"very soon " about anything... Must be less than 5 months at least 🤦

Anyone ram app have problems today. All alerts turned off and all trips are gone and gas milage oil life miles option gone and my app is paid up to date.

@RamTruckMan That's interesting because I received my truck just before Christmas and immediately checked to see if there were any updates but it said there weren't. Within a day or two I got a notice saying one was available and instructed me on installing it. I think the update is actually more going to do with the app since the truck will let you try and make a "phone as a key" but the app doesn't have that feature yet.
Yeah, weird. Maybe be it’s because I have a Big Horn and there aren’t any updates for my trim level currently. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Or maybe RAM updates are just like Fords. Even if the update applies to everyone and 10 people bought the exact same truck that was built in the same month and the same factory on the same day, they would get updates months apart from each other..

I’ve never received an OTA and I’ve had the truck since October. I will not be receiving phone as a key because it is a big horn, but I figured at least some update would come through by now.
so which vehicles come with phone as a key and how do you know if yours did ?

Laramie and Rebel withbthe level 2 package and Limited, limited longhorn and Tungsten. If your truck has the option there should be a key card in the center console (this is what I've heard on the forum as I don't have my truck yet).

Is your signature correct? You ordered your 2025 on 12/18/2023, but you do not have it yet? I'm concerned!! I just ordered mine on 12.10.2024.

Good catch - that wad a typo! I ordered on 12/18/24. Went into D1 on 12/19/24 and dealer told me estimated delivery was 1/23/25 but it hasn't moved since and doesn't appear to have started the build so who knows.

Bought a 2025 ram 1500 Laramie sport in mid September. Nice truck but has already had a ton of issues at 2,700 miles. Batteries have been replaced twice, presets change randomly, navigation came up on its own and I couldn't get out of it without resetting it, remote start sometimes works, stop start never has worked, check engine light on now. Had an appointment with a dealer this morning and truck is completely dead, waiting on a tow truck. I am really regretting buying this truck.

Well.... you're ahead of me! Mine is still sitting at Order Confirmed. I have a VIN! I guess that is something, but mine might be a bit of a special order because I got the red interior limited night edition with the off-road package, too, which is not common. I will call my dealer to see if I can get an update since yours is already scheduled for production.

I must be old school, the phone as a key and the credit card thingy don't interest me at all. I have them on my BMW X7 and never tried or used them with that car either.
The credit card thing, can it just stay in the wallet or do you need to tap something? I’m asking because if it can stay in the wallet, it seems like a no-brainer. If you have to tap, then I’m with Fred

From what others have said, and what the fine manual says.... the card must physically contact the door handle. And for starting, it also has to be in just the right spot. So for the card, I totally agree. Gimmick. Maybe it'd be nice to have in your wallet for some time when you forget your keys - it's a backup.
The phone as a key would be nice for those of us that are seldom without our phones. If you just need to have the phone in a pocket, then I think that would be nice.

Coming from a Ford, I would CONSTANTLY leave my keys in the truck. Just lock the doors with the keypad and be on my way. I CANNOT WAIT for the phone as a key feature. I hate carrying keys in my pocket. Especially when going mountain bike riding, golfing, to the gym, etc.

I had a Ford many years ago with the combo on the door. That was the greatest thing about that car, and I really miss it!

Yea, the combo was great. FYSA: the 2025, the door code is now a dealer install option ONLY🙁

Thanks! Good info. I also found that the pixel 8 pro charging coil is NOT vertically centered on the phone like the iPhone charging coil is. It's slightly lower. I'm going to try not fully seating my phone... Keeping it maybe 1/4" from bottom. I'll post findings.

Keywords for easy searching for those with a similar issue at some point: Google Pixel wireless charging charge coil magsafe case
Confirmed - the wireless charging works perfectly if I pull the phone upwards slightly and better align the charging coil.

For anyone with the same issue who stumbles on this post, do a search for your phone and the charging coil location. You'll see what I'm talking about vs. iPhone charging coil location.
