2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

Do the new 2025 Rams that have start /stop also have a 48v battery behind the passenger seat like the 2024 and earlier eTorque engines? Can S/S be disabled?
Not a 48v battery, but it has a smaller 12v motorcycle type auxiliary battery next to the standard 12v battery. Helps regulate consistent voltage for the electronics during the auto stop/starts.

eTorque motors, at least in the 3.6 variety in a Wrangler, do not have a secondary aux. battery for start/stop. Where as non-eTorque 3.6's in a Wrangler do have a secondary aux battery.
I think we’re kind of saying the same thing.

All the variants we’re talking about have 2 batteries.

Both have a regular truck battery.

For the eTorque, the secondary battery is 48v and used for starter/stop&start and torque. But there’s no third battery for electronics.

For the Hurricanes the secondary battery is 12v and used for electronics and seat memories while the engine is off.

Both have stop/start.

I think, also, it keeps memories and such while the thing is parked in the driveway. I could test the theory by unplugging the main, but that’s too much of PITA if I’m wrong 😂

I unplugged only my main on my SST and let it sit for an hour, nothing I noticed changed to my vehicle settings. Goal was to try and manually clear a code but I think I need to detach both batteries for something like that. Vehicle still had power/lights, console functioned too, remote lock and unlock with just the main disconnected.

Thanks for testing😂😂

I dropped my Rebel at the dealer on Dec 02. 11 days later it was "finished"

Concern 1. Rough running and excessive high idle on cold start, and high idle even when the engine is "warm" (196 coolant and oil temp) upon restarting. 18-071-24 is mentioned and flash # from 68643437AN to 68643437AO. I have not had a chance to test it yet as I just drove home from the dealer and parked it.

Concern 2. The radio just goes silent randomly. no codes found, software up to date, no issue found.

Concern 3. Passenger front window intermittently will not close fully. Window controller DTCB18BA-4B - window control over temp. dealer operated window "excessively" and triggered the condition. I was accused of "over operating" the window and causing the condition. It occurred after rolling down 1 time when it happened to me, I have never ran the window up and down fun.

Concern 4. When front suspension tops out (fully extends) loud clunk is heard, right side noticeably louder. I see it written up as CS going over speedbumps suspension making lots of noise.Dealer diagnosed right REAR shock faulty, leaking and worn. Right rear shock replaced. on my trip home, just crossing through intersections I now have a noise in the right rear under compression that was not there when I brought the truck in.

I was told over the phone that the front strut "pads" were the cause of noise, nothing noted in the work order.

I complained about a lack of power compared to my prior 2025 Rebel, this one is noticeably less powerful/slower under full throttle. I also complained about extremely poor MPG and I drive like a little old lady trying to improve it. It was showing MPG in the 11's around town. nothing at all from dealer on this.

I will be chewing the service managers ear today about the extremely poor wording by the service adviser. I listen and gave great detail on the issues I have been having, and the WO is written so poorly I can see why a tech doesn't solve the issues. I don't see how these people can keep their jobs when they do it so poorly.

I'll report back about the cold start after software after work today.

Hope they figure it out. Mine is back in the dealer as of Monday with Ram customer care saying they would call me on Tuesday to give me more information/question me and I have yet to receive a call. I also have the issue with the radio that it will cut off for a second or two randomly and the dealer couldn't figure it out. I haven't really brought that up anymore as I've been focused on the CEL though. On the windows, my truck does this weird thing that I pull the switch and it will close, so I release the switch and if I grab the switch again to make sure they are closed, it goes up a bit more. I find it odd, but not sure what it could be.

Here is my trucks service history:
In Sept 17th for CEL - misfire codes
Oct 11th - Truck was supposedly fixed and returned to me
Oct 19th - went for Excessive Oil Message - dealer did an oil change and light remained was told to schedule an appointment instead
Oct 22nd - Went in for excessive oil message and brake warning message on radio. Out the same day as they said it was software per RAM
Oct 26th - reset the oil level myself after an oil change and light has yet to come back on.
Nov 2nd - CEL again - misfire and also a fuel pressure sensor 2 circuit performance
Nov 5th - dealer trip and they told me to open up a star case with Ram as they did not have any new updates
Nov 12th - dropped off at the dealer, RAM to send an expert to fix the issue
Nov 26th - Truck was supposedly fixed and ready to go
Nov 29th - CEL again - fuel pressure sensor 2 circuit performance
Nov 30th - Dealer trip again - dealer told me to call RAM as they had no updates
Dec 1st thru Dec 6th - CEL light would come on and off during my drives all related to the fuel pressure sensor 2 circuit performance
Dec 9th - spoke to Ram about my CEL. They closed out my previous case as they said it was fixed. Opened a new case and was told I would have a call within 24 hours to talk to an expert about my issue as they wanted to figure out how I was driving the truck. Thursday Dec 12th and no call. Dealer called me today and said sorry we haven't heard from RAM, but we are asking for updates daily.

Losing hope in this truck, which I love.. I finally have it setup how I wanted it, but it's frustrating they can't fix their issues. I've already found a lemon law lawyer and I've contacted them with all my info. I'm hoping for a call back today so I can decide what my next step is. :( These last two times I have not been given a loaner as my dealer said they do not have any available. RAM said they would cover my rental up to 55 dollars a day, but I would have to pay out of pocket. I don't trust them paying me back so I'm left having to take my wife to work and picking her up every day so I'm not left without a vehicle.

Also note, the dealer has been very helpful and has done a lot for me. I don't blame the dealer for anything, their service is great..

“Over operating” the window is an absolute insane accusation. The fact that that is even a thing blows my mind. What if you did have a kid who sits in the backseat and just likes to roll the window up and down? I’ve never heard of that ever being an issue. It would drive me insane but I’d never consider that an issue.

My driver side window recently started acting up. I (relatively) rarely use it, so excessive use can't be it, but when i pull the button to auto-close it, it gets to the fully closed position and then immediately lowers back down to being half open. It bumps the top, then re-opens. It stays closed if I manually hold the button for it to close.

my exact symptom, but sometimes it goes about 80% closed and reverses.

Isn’t there a reset procedure in this thread somewhere?
Press and hold the window switch while rolling the window down and continue holding the switch down for a few seconds after it’s all the way down. Roll the window up all the way holding the switch up, and continue holding switch for a few seconds after the window is all the way up.

My rear windows also do this. You have to hit the switch again to get them up all the way.

So I’m officially now an owner of a 2025 Limited! Took delivery tonight. First impressions are that I have a TON of new gadgets to learn, engine is nice and quiet, and the ride is very smooth. I had read earlier about people saying that the tow mirrors created quite a blind spot and I thought they were just being whiny. I am leaving a 2020 F150 with the tow mirrors and never had any real issues with the blind spots. First time I pulled out of my neighborhood I realized what everyone had been talking about. There’s going to be a real learning curve with these and making sure I don’t miss something behind them.

One of the biggest things I was looking forward to with this new truck is the “phone as a key” feature. I tried to set it up in the truck but it said I had to use the Ram app on my phone. For the life of me, I can’t find out where that is. The video for this on Ram’s website is missing. Has anyone else been able to turn this on? If so, any info is much appreciated .

I’ll be spending several hours over the next few days trying to learn all about this new toy. Looking forward to it.IMG_2661.jpeg

Update, the phone as a key feature is not available and there is no ETA. 😩
This was one of the features that I was looking forward to as well. Like you, I'm realizing how many features there are built into the software of the truck and it's going to be a few days(weeks) of playing with it to find them all. I did find the digital key section in the trucks system, it appears like it's ready to work but you have to use the RAM app on the phone to start the process. The app is missing what the truck tells you to turn on to program the phone as a key. Hoping it's just an update to the app.

I did have to go through the options for those mirrors on the truck and turn on the option to have them rotate down when in reverse. While that doesn't help with the blind spots, it's a nice feature that I've already found helpful.

Paying attention yesterday, I noticed at an intersection that those mirrors block a full size car from my view. Definitely need to lean forward and back to try and look around the mirrors.

I used the tilt feature for a while, but like others have reported, when returning from tilt to normal, they eventually return to a position that is not where they started (viewing the sky) and not where you had adjusted them to be.

I've been reading through the posts about the '25 issues. A couple of questions keep occupying my brainwaves.

1. Do most of the issues revolve around the electronic features and not the engine. Issues that would have tormented owners regardless of HEMI or Hurricane. The choice of engine is an entirely different topic as evident in the many debates. I was just focusing on the problems that keep vehicles in the shop.

2. On the topic of some owners are plagued with issues, and others being issue free. Is it related to the ordering process.? My '25 was in the showroom at the dealer, but would they have not ordered in the same fashion as owners? Owners are selecting their trims and features, so is that considered a "one of custom build"? Possibly rushed in the building process?

It's just a little vexing with the randomness of it all. What's the common denominator?

1. The only Engine issue I've read about is sometimes people are having an issue with oil levels. There is no dipstick and a few people were having an issue where the engine would say it is overfilled when it wasn't actually. I THINK the reason for that was people were parking on a sloped driveway and the truck didn't like that. I have a sloped driveway and just took delivery of mine so I'll keep an eye on it.

2.It seems to be MOST people don't have any issues but some people have a lot of issues. I'm not aware of a correlation from a custom build to truck bought off the lot. I will say this, custom builds don't get rushed. Mine was a custom build and it sat on a lot for almost 2-3 months. Other trucks just seem to breeze through with no issues. No one has any idea why that happens.
