2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

Yeah the service advisor kept saying that removing the dipstick was the dumbest thing every. I'm like him, I like checking my oil level and color every few weeks. I like visual references and I'm old school!

Me too! And don’t forget to smell the dipstick too. Tells you a lot, and ironically would be useful for monitoring fuel dilution in a DI vehicle. I enjoy the looks I get sometimes at the gas station when doing so.

Different strokes for different folks, I don't think I've checked an oil dipstick in 20 years of changing oil on all my vehicles. I'm more concerned that dealers apparently don't know how much oil motors take.
I understand that, I know people that don't and it's not right or wrong, I was just brought up with checking the oil every so often to make sure it's not low or too dark. I drove a 91 Z28 Camaro for my junior and senior year of high school and it burned a bit of oil so I just got so use to checking it.

Yeah I'm shocked that the first service advisor that greeted me didn't know that the 2025 had the hurricane engine and didn't have a dipstick. When I told him about the message, he said pop the hood and we can check it out. I laughed and told him about the new engine and no dipstick, he just said oh it's one of those now and went and got another advisor to walk him through everything.

Oh yeah! Giving it the smell check to make sure it didn't have fuel or coolant leaking in haha. Then smelling the transmission fluid to make sure it didn't smell burnt.

So I should hold off I my 1000 miles oil change then

My rant for today!
So,

Based on a few snapshots from Google on the search criteria of “has xxxx car company outsourced software development?”, almost all car makers have done it.

However, all manufacturers except Stellantis still have in-house development groups for key functionality development and support.

GM is building an in-house competency for software development and has hired thousands of developers – (Super cruise). Not a GM fan, but my hat off to them to hire American/US based resources.

Stellantis is the only company that has outsourced a significant portion of its software development, particularly to lower-cost countries like India, Morocco and Mexico, as a cost-cutting measure, utilizing low-end body shop companies for various development and maintenance projects.

This is evident from the multiple debacles of the 2025 RAM and other Stellantis product software failures.

Yes – Mercedes and BMW and others don’t have dipsticks for checking oil, however, the implementation of this tech. is light years ahead of Stellantis.

Another major issue with changes for 25 are mostly uneducated dealer resources on the sub-basic tech on 2025 models (not necessarily their fault). A flailing corporation and cash starved dealer network have a challenge funding training.

I still like my 25, however next time around I will look at other options.

I happened to be installing a set of all-weather floor mats today.
Thanks a lot! Well - they really changed the metall underbody to add that feature.
Obviously not a "part" I could add, so I have to do some DIY.

It’s called a dead pedal in the US

Weird question For anyone with a 2025 with RamBoxes: Did your bed divider come with a truck keyed lock cylinder installed? Mine doesn’t and it’s weird. Thanks!
No mine is also missing a lock cylinder. My other Limited's with Ram boxes always had the lock and the vehicle key unlocked it. Since they stopped giving valet keys with the 25s I think they just removed the lock.

I have three major issues with my 2025 Tungsten.

1.) My keys work about 1/2 of the time. When I approach the vehicle the running boards drop and lights come on (most of the time) but when I put my hand in the handle it will unlock about 50/50. Same thing with locking the truck and even sometimes starting it. I have had several late model Rams and never had this issue. I have tried both keys with the same results. I am not carrying the key by my phone or anything. If I hold the key in my hand it always works.

2.) For the 3rd time in 3 weeks the truck will not start and the screen says service shifter. The PNDL rights are all flashing by the dial. If I wait about 10 minutes it will stop flashing and start like normal. This always seems to happen when I am in a hurry to get somewhere and I have to wait the 10 minutes to leave.

3.) This may be normal but its weird. When I park the truck the front two wheel wells have a very loud hissing sound. It sounds like an air hose on a compressor. It makes this sound for several minutes. No suspension warnings and the truck goes up and down and rides normally. Service guy said maybe the 25s empty the air bags on purpose so they are no under pressure while parked. It is so loud that strangers walking but assume I have a major gash in my tire or something.

Other that those issues I love the Tungsten. I am dreading taking it in because I assume they will keep it for 3 days while I drive a crummy rental only to tell me they cannot reproduce. I have an appoint to take it in next week.

Do you have your phone near your keys? I noticed that sometimes if my phone is in the same hand as my key, the ignition will not start. But when I put my phone about 1' away, it is fine.

As for the hissing sound, is it the electric pumps cooling the turbos? Those will run for a bit sometime.

I took the truck into service for the "max engine oil level exceeded warning" that I got. They performed a new oil change on it and reset the oil life and the light stayed on. The tech took me out back and they performed another oil change and this time changed the oil filter while I was there and measured the 7.5 quarts. He then proceeded to do the oil level display refresh and after this was done the light came back on. They told me to call back in the morning and schedule it in for service again. :(

When they hooked it to the scanner it also gave them a service brake warning as well, but he nothing else appeared for them to do. They mentioned it felt like this was a software issue but wasn't sure. I'll give them a call tomorrow to schedule it to be looked at. Not sure how long this one is going to take now..
What ever came of the oil light?

What ever came of the oil light?
Forgot to update on this and my findings.

So this weekend, I went to the dealer and had them document that I was getting a this light. While I was there talking to them, they told me there was no loaner available. I asked if I should still be driving it, they said since they knew that the oil was the right amount and correct weight that I should be good. The dealer told me they would update me if anything came up about this as well. Well I took the truck home with me. On the way home I went and bought a new oil catch can so I could try something out. Sunday morning I went through and dumped the oil out and did the oil level refresh and it marked that it was low (this was with no oil in the engine, so of course). I went back and added the 7.5 liters of oil, started the truck and let it run for a bit. I then performed another oil level refresh and it showed it was correct. I'm confused and worried about what the system is reading or what could have caused it.

I've only ran it about 50 miles since Sunday morning and I did perform another oil level refresh this morning and it still said it was good. It took nearly two weeks for the light to come on from when the dealer changed the oil. The only thing I can think of is, the day the light came on I had the rear of the truck on ramps since I was changing my rear swaybar settings. I also had it in the run position so maybe in that angle it performed an oil level refresh and it showed high since it was slanted. It shouldn't have done it though since the manual says it will only perform when parked on reasonably level ground. Does anybody know where this oil level sensor is located?

Thank you for your feedback. Some of the processes you went through make sense; however, for you and us, they still do not explain the root cause of this issue.

Yeah I'm not happy or satisfied with any of this. It has me more worried as I just can't check it with a good o'fashion dipstick.

I can see how raising the rear can screw with a sensor, it does with a gas gage also if it’s angled long enough and on when it’s angled. There’s programming to prevent that when, say, driving on a hill. Sometimes if parked on a slope, the gas gage will be inaccurate for a time, but you generally only see that in older cars.
Did someone else say that this exceeded max oil level was also an issue for them? Or that it happened twice in a row?

I disabled the approach lighting/running boards on my 25 Limited as I noticed it made the truck act kind of weird. Disabling that makes it act like prior Limiteds where the boards come down quickly on each side separately as the doors are opened on that side. Much preferred.

My 2023 Limited and 2025 Limited have never made a “hissing” sound with the air suspension. It’s more of a rough sound as it pumps air…I’m guessing you have a slight leak that the system is trying to compensate for?

Oh that makes sense

I'm going to have to look at where this sensor is located at. So far it hasn't come back on. I'll report back if it does.
